Again this year we are using LiveAuctions.TV , assisted by Katie Colyer and Craig Flewelling, to make the process smooth and secure. Live online close-out biddng begins at 7:00 p.m. PDST Sunday, September 25th, 2016. A sale order will be posted 9:00 AM on September 20.

If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the three numbers listed below. Due to some folks computers and their marginal internet connection I would stress that you use the maximum proxy bid feature if you really want a lot. If your computer takes time to refresh the screen when you are making a crucial bid you may be disappointed and lose the animal to a lessor bid.

AUCTION GUIDELINES HOW TO PARTICIPATE In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number. To do this go to the LiveAuctions website, www.liveauctions.tv, and select Richardson Ranch 6h Annual Online Auction. After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up automatically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number”. This form requires you to fill out your bank’s name, city, province, phone number and a contact. You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not instantaneous so please plan ahead.

HOW THE AUCTION WORKS Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid. You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID. There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”.

No one else will be able to see your bid, that data is not accessible to the public. Each time you login, the auction screen will display your personal bidding information. Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you. Remember that you must have the lot that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy (automatic) bid settings as applicable.

WHAT IS A PROXY BID With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay. This means that you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding.

Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other registered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”. But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid.

Mother Nature was somewhat harsh on the Haida Gwaii islands this summer. There was a lack of moisture so the grass is short and brown, but the Richardson Ranch cow herd has never looked better. The cows are in great shape and calves are shiny.

It’s time to focus on adding the next piece to your herd. The herd bull prospects on offer are not only the best of the calf crop, they are from breed leading sires, and these guys have fantastic documentation. Their mothers are currently in the show string or have been in the past.

City Boy 1C was the best calf in last year’s crop and was used this summer on the yearling heifers.

He has developed into a moderate, thick young herd sire that has a lot of eye appeal.

The yearling heifers are strong. They are good because they are bred that way. Don’t miss the Carla or the Jade heifers. They are front pasture.

If you want a big time show heifer, 10D or 16D will fill the bill. These kinds don’t come for sale very often, and remember the Junior Bonanza is in Abbotsford in 2017. They are of the quality to make you proud.

Here is a flashy heifer calf ! We purchased her Mr Hereford dam from the 2014 WLB Online Sale and she has developed into a lovely uddered cow. This calf is dark red with big goggles on both eyes and she is red necked and red to her toes. She likely has the most hair of all the 2016 Tlell calves. . No doubts here. This heifer, from the Roo Cow Family, is the number one indexing heifer calf at Tlell this year. She is thick and stout and both she and her dam are on our show team. 3 EMBRYOS The Tanya cow was a favorite of many of the international visitors who travelled to see our herd while attending the 2012 World Hereford Conference in Canada. She was calf at the side of her Batavia dam when the pair was named Senior Cow Champion of the 2008 Farmfair International’s Western National Hereford Show. The pedigree of our Tanya cow family traces back via the Saddle Valley Tanya 125E cow to a good Klondike donor cow, Klondike Beauty 789C.

2 EMBRYOS 257S is a great grand-daughter of our 550C Jade cow. We purchased this feature daughter from the Remitall Dispersal Sale and her heifer calf at side sold that day to Wooden Shoe Farms. The first 257S daughter born at Tlell, Jade 32X, topped our 2012 Online Sale when she and her bull calf, AI sire Red Zulu 1Z, sold for a combined $17,100.00. We have two daughters in our cow herd and two ET sons in our yearling bull pen.

Delivery: Purchase price includes delivery of all livestock along Yellowhead Hwy from Prince Rupert, BC to Lloydminster , AB at no extra charge.

We will deliver, free of charge, all livestock purchased, east along Hwy 16 as far as Lloydminister, AB. There are also several commercial options available to ship cattle from the BC Livestock Co-op auction market in Vanderhoof to all parts of Canada. We will make every effort to assist you in arranging delivery to your Ranch.

We will work with all buyers to make sure your wishes re delivery are respected and fully meet your expectations within the limits as noted here on this page..

Show Rights Reserved: We plan to attend the 2016 Farmfair International in Edmonton, AB We may ask your permission to show your purchase at Farmfair. If you agree we will retain show rights until after the show and there will be no cost to you.

We will arrange to deliver your purchase from Edmonton after Farmfair.

Arrangements can be made for Bull calves purchased in this sale to be fed at Tlell for $750 and delivered to Vanderhoof after semen testing in April 2017. You must insure your bull calf and the feed bill must be paid prior to delivery next spring.

We will give a cash discount of $100 a head for cattle picked up at our Ranch in Tlell.

Payment is expected in Canadian dollars before cattle are shipped off the island. Each animal purchased becomes the property of the buyer 24 hours after we have notified you of your winning bid and we advise you to acquire insurance on your purchases.

Delivery of cattle: We will be selling all the cattle FOB Vanderhoof and we will be giving a cash discount of $100 a head for cattle picked up at our Ranch in Tlell. FOB Vanderhoof means we will trailer, at our cost, all the cattle sold, to Vanderhoof where there are several commercial options available for you to move your new purchase to all parts of Canada. We will have all animals brand inspected and provide shipping manifests issued at our expense prior to delivery of your purchases to trucking companies in Vanderhoof and we will make every effort to assist you in arranging delivery from Vanderhoof to your Ranch.

Females in the sale: All females in the sale are being sold with the term “Selling 100% Possession, Retaining one flush”. This means that should you buy one of these females she will be yours to possess and breed at your ranch without any restrictions. However, should you use the female in question in a donor program and you have her permitted as a donor dam by the CHA then we will retain the right to one flush of this cow to the bull of our choice, at our costs, at a time which is mutually agreeable to both parties.

Bulls in the sale: All bulls are being sold “100% possession, retaining 50% Semen Interest”. This means should you buy this bull he will be yours to possess and use at your ranch without any restrictions.

However, should you elect to collect semen from this bull for resale outside your own herd, we would be equal partners in both the costs involved and the profits generated from this sale of semen.

Genetic Defects: All the cattle in this sale have been DNA tested for Idiopathic Epilepsy, Diluter and Hypotrichosis and found to be negative or are negative by pedigree .

Guarantee: All cattle are guaranteed to meet the “Terms and Conditions” as mandated by the Canadian Hereford Association on their “Agreement of Sale” as posted on the hereford.ca web page.

Herd health: All cattle have been vaccinated with both a seven way and a four way vaccine, and all will be treated with Ivermectin pour-on within the last 30 days before the sale.

Certificate of Registration: All cattle purchased, will be transferred to the new owner and a registration paper from the Canadian Hereford Association will be supplied.

CJHA Heifer Lottery Sale: All female animals in this sale qualify to be purchased with CJHA Heifer lottery funds.
