Dobson Ranch Retirees’ Club

The Dobson Ranch Retirees will continue to meet throughout the summer at our regular time of 9:30 am, on the first Monday of the month for “Fun, Food, and Fellowship!”

Members will be asked to contribute pot luck food and bring their own beverages for the meetings. This gives our hospitality team a much needed break from the food preparation and clean up that each meeting requires.

Our summertime activities have been reduced due to the heat and we will not be hiking, biking, walking or picnicking until cooler temperatures return. We will continue to enjoy our other events including Men’s Breakfasts, Ladies Luncheons, Happy Hour and Dinner Night Out. Line Dancing and Games will continue indoors at La Casita. See page 22 for Line Dancing information!

In June, The Day Trippers planned an outing to the Arizona Museum of Natural History which included an immersive walk through prehistoric Arizona with full size dinosaurs and panning for gold. Thanks to Betsy Hertzler for organizing this outing. Future programs will include a video trip of Indonesia, Bali, Bangkok and beyond recently visited by one of our members. In the fall we will have a Waymo demonstration and explanation.

I want to recognize and thank Susie and Gerry Payne who have been chairpersons for the monthly picnics for the last five years. They are stepping down as leaders of this group and Elaine and Mike Nester are stepping into leadership. We are happy that this popular event will continue once weather permits.

I personally want to thank my Vice President, Donna Fox, for stepping up to fill in for me these last months as I recovered from surgery and enjoyed vacation time away from Presidential duties. She and the Board kept the Retirees’ Club running smoothly. An additional Thank you to Susan Davis who wrote the Retirees’ articles for me these last months as well!

Our club is full of wonderful people who have many gifts and talents. Come join us for the fun, food and fellowship!
