Advantages And Disadvantages Of Education
Education is undeniably vital and essential for people from all walks of life. Education is the key to success, and as we all know it, there are too many reason why education is important in our lives but none on the disadvantages of it because education only brings benefits towards us. According to Oxford Dictionary, the word 'education' is derived from Latin, Д“ducДЃtiЕЌ in the mid–16th century and is defined as "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university." The origin of education began as story–telling passed knowledge and now it has taken up to 3 forms of education which is; formal education, informal education and non–formal education. Formal education is a planned education system in a...show more content...
Students are often heard whining to their parents about school and finding a thousand and one excuses not to go to school but as little as we realize, schools actually help build our character and leads us to our career progression. An educated individual is capable of planning for the future, choosing the right decisions in life and behaving appropriately. Education is not only a pathway to our career but also paves the path to disillusionment. It gives us the insight on what is right and wrong, making clear judgements and shapes our personalities. The nation's growth depends on the literacy of the people. "Education is much more than an entry to the job market. It has the power to shape a sustainable future and better world." (Unknown, 2012) With the help of education, one can easily get an entry of a job while at the same time help develop the nation. Most countries realized that in this competitive world, education is important for the social progress and economic growth of a nation. As John F. Kennedy quotes, "our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. The human mind is our fundamental resource." In simple words, brain beats brawn, which is used to define a country. A country with no education cannot win over a country with enhanced technology and strategic

Why does society consider education such an important quest? Should there be a purpose for education or should education simply be an intrinsic pursuit (Marples, 2010), where individuals just want to learn and become more knowledgeable. Education should be accessible for all young people to obtain skills required to become meaningful members of society, whether it is simply to acquire knowledge or to acquire more purposeful skills for a meaningful profession. How that occurs is determined by stakeholders commissioned to realise the aims for education devised by governments, who ultimately decide what is best for society. Education can be applied to any number of programmes that teach and encourage learning (Hand, 2010). The argument...show more content...
The purpose of this view of education is to prepare individuals for the real world, where employment enables them to earn a living which in turn benefits society. The vocational view requires a curriculum that has theoretical inquiry as its base. Students undertake practical activities (Hand, 2010) specific for their chosen career path. Richard Pring (2004) argues that the liberal and vocational views can be combined – resolved view, where theory and practice can be blended into meaningful activities that have a holistic approach to student's education. An integrated curriculum that shifts learning from knowledge–oriented to virtue–oriented and moves away from discrete subject (Hand, 2010) areas. Integrated curriculums teach values based ideals that will educate students into the type of people society want children to be (Hand, 2010). Everyone has an equal right to an education (Warnock, 1975), what each individual chooses to do with their education is up to them. Education should be liberating, having the capacity to involve students in the pure joy of learning and increasing their capacity to think. Why get educated if education does not serve any instrumental purpose (Marples, 2010). Society would suffer without individuals trained in the required skills to undertake work that maintains humanity. The most obvious function of

About 20 years ago, education was something that a person did only if he/she wanted to. Unfortunately, as the years went by, the idea of "Education is the key to success" got more, and more enforced. People eventually started to believe that education was the single way to succeed, and the only thing needed for success. Despite the fact, many Americans believe a college degree will lead them to be successful, in reality, education is not the solitary way to succeed. Not everybody can receive an education, or even an excellent education from a "decent academic" college/university. "There are many students who have no desire to attend college and who would be much better off if they...show more content... Education or book learning had nothing to do with the success of those people that chose to take another path rather than the typical one (education). People can be successful in any field with the right skills. Book learning has a lot to do with the knowledge a person has, but not with the skills a person has. There are many A+ graduates out there that cannot get a job, or are stuck working at a place that had nothing to do with their degree. A numerous amount of students in college care more about grades than knowledge; some graduate having forgotten everything they ever learned. So there goes a college graduate with little knowledge and no skills. Can a person like that succeed? No. That's why education is not the key to success. People cannot just go to college and expect that passing classes will get them to succeed. The main thing a person needs in order to succeed is drive, motivation and passion. He/she has to know what their end goal is and what they need to do to get it. "Commit to the achievement of the elusive goal in your life" (Arcement, 101). The person has to go about learning what skills will take her or him to be successful. One of the main skills a person should have is persistence. A person must always keep going after his or her goal even if it takes

A high–quality and accessible education is important for all children. Through education, children gain knowledge and skills that can lead to greater opportunities and upward mobility later in life. Education has [Passive] long enabled people to go further than they ever thought possible; to explore new ideas and to achieve new goals. Fostering knowledge and creativity enables children to forge their own paths in life. As an educator, it is my greatest desire to guide children on their educational journeys in a meaningful way. I hope to provide the children in my classroom an accessible, inclusive and resource rich learning environment.

Inclusion
A classroom where everyone has access, is not necessarily a classroom where everyone feels included. In order to create an inclusive environment, the teacher should assure that all students feel included and understood. Diversity should be valued in the classroom and this starts with the attitude of the teacher. When students come from a different backgrounds, the teacher should learn about their cultures and integrate that knowledge into the learning environment. The teacher should also strive to foster acceptance and value in classroom diversity among students.
Resources

Students shouldn't suffer because they are unable to afford basic resources needed for school. If a parent is unable to provide the student with what they need, I would have available extra supplies including, notebooks, binders, and pens on hand for student use. Additionally, I think it's important to acknowledge that sometimes the resources students are lacking stretch beyond the walls of the classroom. The problem might be as simple as not getting breakfast in the morning, or as complicated as not having a place to live. Obviously, as teachers we probably have the ability to fix the first one (free school breakfast application help), but not the later. We can, however, be empathetic to a student's situation and treat them with understanding instead of frustration.
Future Classroom
My goal is to make my classroom a learning environment where all students can be
The Importance of Education

Education has always been a crucial part of society for the past centuries. Some believe that our education is a privilege. Some believe that our education is a right. Some believe that our education is an obligation. The only obligation we might have towards education is to treat it as a privilege as well as a right, but certainly not an obligation to have an education. Education has been the basis for the success we see in our parents, our teachers, and more importantly, ourselves.
Over time, people have considered and concluded that education is a privilege. Education is a privilege because not many people can afford an education, and we should be grateful that we have this opportunity that...show more content...
This is true because you cannot be denied an education based on your nationality, skin color, hair color, or any physical features, even being handicapped. It is the right of the individual to seek an education, as long as the individual is fully capable financially and mentally. Let say ?Melissa,? a fictional fourteen–year–old African–American girl, wants to attend Hinsdale Central. A fairly goodschool, if I do say so myself, for a student to attend preceding college, as I have. Let?s say Hinsdale Central refuses to let Melissa attend their school for various reasons, such as her skin color. It?s Melissa?s constitutional right to contest this decision by the fact that the school denied her admittance based on her skin color, which is discrimination. However, the school does not have to admit Melissa, even though she is completely qualified. The individual does not have the right to an education, but rather has the right to seek and education. The individual can only have a right to an education if the school offering the education refuses them based on physical features.
What about obligations, is an education one of them? Education can be an obligation in a personal way, but education is certainly not an obligation to receive in the general aspect. If a person feels obligated about their education, they are most likely not going to be motivated. Motivation comes from the parents, the teachers, and the
The Function of Education Education is an aspect of socialisation which involves the acquisition of knowledge and learning of skills. It shapes our beliefs and moral values through a systematic formal transmission. Education is said be an integral function of society, as it provides a contributory characteristic which helps to maintain and adapt society and it's values. Before the 1960's, education was taught through a system known as the 'Tripartite' system. This involved all children at the age of eleven undertaking an exam in order to ascertain individual ability in order to separate the children into streams of ability and assign them to what was believed to be the most appropriate...show more content... The Comprehensive was intended to reduce class differences in educational attainment. It allowed children to mix from all social backgrounds and therefore provided equal opportunity. Although this system has been highly criticised since it was first introduced there are a number of factors which imply and suggest that although the comprehensive system is less divisive than the tripartite, it still does little to engender social equality if anything, serves to reinforce class inequality. According to the Marxist Sociologists, Bowles and Gintis (Schooling in Capitalist America, 1976), education will always reinforce and legitimate social inequality. As a consequence of the elite owning the means, they decide what the curriculum entails and therefore continuously reinforce and reproduce their class status as the system is designed by themselves for themselves, leaving the working class powerless. In any industrial capitalist society there is a rigid hierarchy of authority, this is evident in the workplace, in society and in its values which are instilled in members of society at any early age – at school. For example in the workplace; Shareholders, Directors, Managers, professionals, technical staff, white collar workers down to

"I do not want to go to school today!" "I hate my teacher, and she hates us!" "She's boring and we do not even learn anything!" "Ugh, why do I even have to go?" At one point or another in our lives, we have all been in this situation. Whether it was watching a friend or sibling throw the tantrum, or if it was you yourself, we have heard the excuses above plenty of times. Ironically, these are not always excuses used in hoped of enjoying a day off from school, as sadly, these "boring" and "hateful" teachers do exist. But what causes teachers to act this way and treat their students in a way that they feel under–appreciated or as if they are a nuisance? Many teachers go to work everyday to do just that, work. All throughout my schooling, I have also been lucky enough to have had tremendous and inspirational teachers who have shown me the power in being on the other end of the learning by being an educator. That power that I was shown, by my teachers who were engaged, had infectiously positive attitudes and simply loved what they did, is one of the main reasons that I want to become and educator, so that I may too spread that same love and thirst for knowledge. Another, more personal reason that I want to become an educator is due to my grandparents. Growing up, I have seen both ends of what an education can provide, and what not having one can do to your whole life. One on side, I have grandparents who themselves were teachers and were always willing to share their stories, both good and bad, their lessons and have provided me with knowledge and words of wisdom that only someone who has been in the classroom can give. One the other side, I have grandparents who have shown me what a lack of opportunities and an education can do to your life. As they both migrated to the United States as young teenagers, they did not receive the chance to properly finish their education, which causes them to lack basic skills such as reading and writing fluently. Seeing them struggle with these basic tasks on a daily has shown me that an education is not something that should ever be taken for granted. For me, I believe education is something that everyone should
Education is extremely important for the development of a nation. It is the process of instruction aimed at all round development of youth. It is the only wealth that cannot be robbed. Learning includes the moral values and the improvement of character and the methods to increase the strength of mind. Education enables people to cause and to contribute to societal development. Education has the responsibility for transferring human being into human resources (Gopalan, 2001). Development of human resources is the main function of education. In a modern society education is a very important sector. Education, at the individual level helps in the process of socialization. At the level of society, it ensures that the traditional wisdom passes from one generation to the other and the new and modern knowledge is imbibed by the present generation.
Higher education is a powerful tool to build knowledge– based society. It is considered one of the important instruments for the development of any country. Primary education is necessary for creating base while higher education is extremely important for providing cutting edge. The Importance of Teaching
Education should be a part of everyone's life. A good education offers something for everyone, whether it be on the simple level or a more complex one. Education should provide provide an opportunity for students to develop a strong sense of creativity, a high self esteem, and a life long respect for learning. Education should help students establish a strong sense of confidence in themselves. A teacher will be one factor that helps a student learn and progress along their way through life. Teachers combine their own ideas withother people's to be able to give a good education to their students.

I believe in the Pragmatists view that we learn best through experience. Progressiveness brings up the ideas that education should be tested by experiments and that learning is rooted in questions developed by the learners. Progressive style also emphasizes that the school should actively prepare students for change.
Essentialists bring up the point of the educational goal. They believe that a good education should transmit one's cultural heritage and develops them into good citizens. Humanism is concerned with enhancing the innate goodness of the individual, which is the mail qualities the teacher wants to bring out.
My philosophical view is based upon many things. When teaching, there should be hands on experience for the students. The curriculum should be the basics and whatever else interests the students should make out the rest of their schedule. Teaching should not be student centered or teacher centered. I believe it should be a combination of both. There should be a median somewhere. The highest thing on my list is what the humanists have to say. They believe every teacher should be a positive. A positive teacher is one that can be a role model for the students. They

There is no doubt that the importance of education and schooling in the lives of our youth today. It serves many purposes such as attainment of knowledge, the opportunity to reach goals and the learning of norms in our society. It also provides other latent functions such as child care and a safe place to be when parents are working. School also allows for other functions to occur such as patriotism, innovation, competition and establishing peer friendships. Education and schooling is a necessity in any society and at its core helps establish and teach the norms and laws of a society. But we are imperfect people and in any imperfection there is conflict. Due to social placement, students at an early age are put on a certain track that undermines many students their ability to succeed. Students, as soon as they reach elementary school, are placed in certain categories labeling or tracking them in a certain way. If a child does not catch on or takes more attention to get to answers or attain knowledge, teachers may put them on a slower pace easier track and pass that information on to the next teacher. If students are at a higher pace they might be put in the gifted or advance track. This becomes a self–fulfilling prophecy where both the teacher and the student believe in what they have been told or what they have assessed. A child's self–esteem is formed in the years that they are enrolled in school. I am a parent of two differently abled children. My oldest always had trouble in school and I knew right away that something was not right, I asked teacher after to teacher to get her tested and instead they labeled my child as inept. They just kept piling homework on her that would last hours instead of really helping my child. Finally, right before third grade I forced the issue and she was tested. She was diagnosed with dyslexia, short term memory loss and ADD. She was also was determined to have an above average IQ. My child was placed or tracked into the lower classes when what she really needed was help. I have never allowed my child ever to use these disabilities as a crutch or excuse. She

When an essay is completed in a Moo, it is out there for the world to see. In other words, anyone and everyone in the world who has access to the Internet can view it. This leaves an essay open for criticism, which can be used constructively to help the student develop his or her work. It also beneficial for the teachers. It allows the teacher to view the student's work with the click of a mouse. No longer does class have to be in session for work to be accomplished. Teachers can view an essay over the Internet, then email the student back his or her grade at any time they desire. Essays written on the Internet also free the teacher from carrying around stacks of papers.
Although Moos have many advantages, there are also certain drawbacks to creating an essay in this fashion. When writing an essay in the Moo, the Moo editor may be needed. This can be a stressful task to learn the commands, but once they are familiar, travel throughout the Moo rooms is much easier.

Problems with Education
Education is a very important aspect of the lives of all people all over the world. What we learn, not just in the classroom, shapes who we are. We take our education everywhere we go. We use it when talking to our buddies about sports or music, we use it while solving a math problem, we use our education while debating with our family whether or not we should watch TV or go to the movies. Our education is the foundation of who we are, since every decision we make and every thought we think is dependent on what we know. Imagine how different the world would be if everyone craved learning to such a degree that at lunch tables all over the world the topic of conversation isn't who likes who, or how drunk ...show more content... School is also coercive, disciplinary and taught by many unmotivated teachers, so school being mandatory is just icing on the cake. Teachers and the school system completely control the way things are run and leave little room for students to do things their way. Teachers control what they teach, how to teach, how to discipline, what is assigned, etc. Students need to have more of a say in the way things are run since they are the majority. More freedom in decisions would create a more comfortable environment and students would thus have an easier time learning. There is also stress on a lack of communication since school is coercive. It is hard to reach a person if one doesn?t have a relationship with that person, and one way to deal with this is through addressing the students to hear their ideas and views on what direction should be taken. School is very similar to an oligarchy where the faculty is the monarch and students are the populous. It should be more of a democracy where all the students have a say in what happens, but how often is there a vote as to class and school decisions? The current curriculum is one in which a teacher says ?jump? and a student responds with ?how high.? And if a student responds with anything different, than they are reprimanded or punished. Three are many aspects of school that are unhealthy to a students life that many teachers don?t see and so these

Why Physical Education is Important
Education can be defined as the systematic development of the mind, capabilities, and/or character through instruction or study. This is also the purpose of education. This purpose is met through the curriculum taught, how the curriculum is taught, and the nature of the curriculum taught. Physical education is just one aspect that should be taught to students.
The purpose of education is for a student to develop character, mental abilities, and physical abilities. This is why school and education are so important, because without these skills one cannot live up to his/her full potential or even function in society. Another way this happens is by failure. If a student gets beat once, twice, or even three times the same way, that student will figure out a way to stop the action and he/she will not get beat that way again. Finally one's sense of self is developed through physical activity. This can be through team or individual sports. In a team sport one works with others. Through successes and failures one defines whom they are whether they know it or not. In an individual sport students are dependant entirely on themselves. If they push themselves then they will have a better opportunity to win. The amount of effort a student is capable of putting forth to win is also a defining characteristic.
The nature of knowledge in physical education can be absolute or relative depending on the topic. The absolute knowledge has to deal with anatomy, physiology, or even sports themselves. Most sports do not change. The way they are played can change but the basic principles stay the same. Relative knowledge in physical education involves training, methods of playing sports, and nutrition. Training is different for everyone, what works for someone might not work for somebody else. For instance, someone would never ask Barry Sanders to run through a defender while they would not ask Jerome Bettis to run around that same defender. The final way that knowledge can be relative is through nutrition. A good example of

The opportunities education gives to individuals is remarkable, many careers and life lessons come from having a great education and educators. In the education system, many are taught valuable attributes that will live on with them for life times to come. There is a fine line between which life and education teaches someone and which is more effective in the long term. Personally, when I reflect on my own life and education experiences, I truly found a greater teacher in my education. This is to say that the way I took learning is not the only way for many will say life experiences has much more to offer. It is all based off of personal opinions and experiences but there is a point where most can see the light at the end of the tunnel. "Education is very important in today's time. Everybody goes to school to extend their knowledge, but studying science helps kids understand the world. To emphasize, science can simply make you more intelligent. In addition to that, learning science can also inform children of all ages about what is going on in the world. This includes diseases such as AIDS, H1N1, and diabetes. It is important to get an education so that kids know what to be aware of in the outside world. Getting an education in science can benefit a student more than by alerting them of diseases in the world. Educational science can also tell kids about environmental topics such as global warming and recycling.. We all need to know about problems on the planet such as these, and what better place than school. "People everywhere should be aware of the fact that everyday we are corrupting the environment or spreading a disease. (www.grinningplanet.com/6001/environmental–quotes.htm, John Mckonnel)" It is for this reason that children need to have a good science education. Knowing we are in the 21st century, things get more complicated, including diseases, and finding a cure gets harder with it. Having children study science in schools can get them aware of what is happening. Lastly, studying science during a person's childhood years can inspire them to become real scientists themselves so they can deal with issues that are effecting the world. Becoming a scientist can help the
