Flowers hold unique meanings and can convey messages that words may not. Each type and colour of flower has a specific significance, allowing for effective communication through floral choices.

Have you ever found yourself in a flower shop, unsure of which flowers to choose? Maybe you've had to send flowers as a message in your absence. Roses have unique meanings based on colour, extending beyond love and romance. They can convey emotions such as joy, friendship, and sadness. In this edition, we will be focusing on the rose flower and we'll provide you with the meanings behind the different colours and the best times to give them.
1. Red Roses
This colour is undoubtedly familiar, and it's possible that we've misused it! While a deep red rose is traditionally linked to romantic love and passion, it also carries additional connotations. Specifically, it can indicate that one is ready for commitment and suggest a deeper bond, and it could be used to propose to or gift the person you are trying to woo. The lighter shades of red communicate passion and desire and can be gifted to a person you are intimately craving.
3. White Roses

This is the colour you get when you want to express untainted love, or make peace. It symbolizes purity, loyalty, and new beginnings; it does not carry any romantic meanings. It is not a wonder that it is very famous during weddings, as it represents the start of a new life together. Aside from weddings, this can be given to a friend after a quarrel to communicate a fresh start and also pledge loyalty.
This colour represents pure joy, gratitude, admiration, and recognition. This is the colour that symbolizes elegance, femininity, and gentility. You can gift this to someone you have admiration for or respect for like your female sibling, friend, or even a mentor. These are appropriate for bridal showers, baby showers, engagement parties, and even high school graduation nights.
4. Black Roses
We understand that this colour might communicate a bad omen, black roses, by default, have come to symbolize death and passing away. However, in recent times, it has come to carry a new meaning, which means death to the old and the birth of the new. When mixed with green roses, it speaks of hope for a better future, so when next you want to gift a black rose to someone in mourning, be sure to mix it with green and speak positivity into their future.
