The Composite Collection provides you with an entrance door that not only looks exquisite but is also durable and robust. With such a wide choice of door styles, glazing designs, colours and hardware options to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect door for your home.
Our composite door is a breakthrough in door technology, combining proven levels of high security with stunning aesthetics. Quite simply, it’s a door with superior strength and style.
The high-impact Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) skin offers exceptional durability and will maintain its appearance against everyday knocks and scratches. Unlike other doors, they don’t split or twist.
To complement your home, every door is designed with symmetry and balance in mind. Using modern technology, the detailed embossed woodgrain finish, developed from oak tree grain, creates a beautifully authentic appearance.
Thanks to its waterresistant coating, there is no need to repaint or varnish your door; a quick and easy wipe with a damp and dust-free cloth will keep your door looking brand new. For further details see page 66.
Holding the highest accreditations for quality and security, you can have peace of mind that the door construction, with its rigid polymer subframe, high-density CFC-free polyurethane foam core, integral security board and high impact GRP skin, will keep your property safe and secure.
Manufactured to the Highest Standards
Hurst doors are CE marked and fully accredited to meet the criteria of BS:EN 6375, PAS 24:2022 for weather and security performance certification, Q-mark for enhanced security, as well as a Secured by Design option, a police initiative backed by the Home Office Crime Prevention Unit.
Excellent Weatherproofing
Designed with waterresistant polymer composite rails to protect the core, your Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) skin door won’t suffer from water ingress which can result in skin delamination and other functional problems of some lesser products.
Composite doors are made from a variety of different materials to ensure quality, strength and security of the highest standards. These materials are specifically selected for their properties, helping to keep your home safe and secure.
These materials include:
- A dedicated PVC-U reinforced outer frame; a composite PVC-U sub-frame and an inner-frame made from laminated veneered lumber
- A CFC-free polyurethane (PU) foam core
- A weather resistant, 4mm Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) grained surface

We all worry about how much energy our homes consume. The rising cost of our energy bills and our impact on the environment means we want to keep our consumption to a minimum. One of the best ways to do this is to choose thermally efficient products that keep the warmth in and cold out, thereby saving money and emissions.
The exact energy rating of your new door depends on various factors such as the door style and amount of glazing. However, all feature our high-density polyurethane foam core, which provides an insulating thermal barrier between warm air inside and the cold air outside.
This special core maximises the thermal efficiency of your new composite door, making it more energy-efficient than a traditional solid timber core door. You can be assured that this thermally insulated core is also environmentally friendly with a Global Warming Potential of less than five and an Ozone Depletion Score of zero.
Not only do Hurst doors feature a high performing insulating core with a high impact GRP skin, they also feature:
- a multi-chamber thermally efficient frame with high tech triple seal
- an external door gasket and adjustable hinges to deliver a firm and consistent compression between the door frame and sash to stop any drafts
- a weatherproof threshold, plus weatherseal and wool pile barriers to reduce the airflow under and around the door
- double or triple glazing to reduce heat loss
Protect your home from the threat of intrusion with a Hurst Composite door. Find out more about the superior strength, durability and security each of our doors provide.
- Hurst composite doors are also proven to the BS:EN 6375 classification for weather tightness, air, wind and water, providing peace of mind that you are protected from the elements.
The U-value measures the rate of transfer of heat through a structure (such as a wall, window or door). The higher the U-value, the less efficient the structure will be; a good U-value is a low one.
A Hurst composite door meets the requirements of the latest Approved Document L of the Building Regulations, which states that doors must have a U-value of 1.4 W/m2K or less. Whilst the U-Value will be determined by the amount of glazing, you can be reassured that Hurst composite doors are equal to or less than 1.4 W/m2K.
According to the UK Home Office, the front door is the most common point of entry in reported burglaries. Most of these entries are made by attacking the lock or forcing the door, which makes the installation of a strong and secure front door one of the most effective ways to protect your home.
Intruders will struggle to get past the superior strength, durability and security that a Hurst GRP composite door provides. Here’s why:
Hurst composite doors are manufactured to the highest standards. Our doors are BS:EN 6375, PAS 24:2022 accredited which is recognised by both the police and insurance companies as well as fulfilling building regulation requirements. Hurst Doors also carry the Q-mark for enhanced security.
In order to achieve all of these accreditations, our doors went through rigorous third-party testing, so you can be assured of a quality door and be confident that they will keep your home safe.
Our doors are supplied with the latest engineered multi-point locking systems which are PAS 24 accredited and meet the highest standards for enhanced security performance.
All our lever doors feature a multipoint locking system that is set up for smart technology which enables you to check on the status of your door via your smartphone.
The doors also provide one of the UK’s largest hooks and centre deadbolt, which makes for greater compression and security on your door.
Our multipoint Slam Locks, which are generally paired with pull handles, are also PAS 24 accredited.
The mechanical self-locking system ensures that the door is securely locked against uninvited entry when simply pulled shut.
We also use the latest anti-bump and anti-snap cylinder locks made from hardened steel to make your door even more secure.
Hurst composite doors are made with an insulating foam core which is both supported by a reinforced frame and high impact, 4mm glass reinforced polyester (GRP) skins on either side of the door. This construction provides exceptional durability and the GRP skin adds a layer of protection to your front door, helping to keep you and your property safe.
Recognised for their Security by a UK Police Initiative
Secured by Design is a flagship UK police initiative supporting the principles of ‘designing out crime’. All of our GRP composite doors are able to meet the requirements of this accreditation with the addition of a door viewer (spyhole), door chain, laminated glass if glazed and a letterplate with security cowl.
Most UK insurers recognise Secured by Design (SBD) as being the mark of a safe home. In order to meet the organisation’s strict standards and to carry the Secured by Design accreditation, Hurst composite doors have been rigorously tested against a variety of forced intrusion attempts.

The majority of break-ins are through the front door. Our doors can be upgraded to meet the requirements of Secured by Design and all feature the best locking systems to keep your home and family fully protected.
Secured by Design is a flagship UK police initiative supporting the use of ‘designing out crime’ through the use of high-quality innovative products and processes.
In order to achieve Secured by Design status, the Hurst composite door collection has been rigorously tested and adheres to the organisation’s strict standards.
Statistics show that when it comes to burglaries in the UK, front doors are the main source of access. Therefore, they need to be made as secure as possible.
Our Secured by Design upgrade meets the national standard for safer homes and is also recognised by most insurance companies.
The Secured by Design standard upgrade includes:
A security cowl if a letterplate is required
A safety chain
A spyhole
Laminated glass if the door is glazed
A cyclinder with cylinder guard
Doors specified with a Lever/ lever and Lever/pad handle are commonly supplied with a Kubu enabled multi-point door lock as standard.
This high-performance, multi-point locking system is not only set for smart technology, it also provides one of the UK’s largest hooks and centre deadbolt at 25mm, which makes for greater compression and security on a closed door.
For a smooth precise operation, the hooks are engaged when the handle lever (located halfway up the door) is lifted and then the door is simply locked/unlocked by using the key.
All of our engineered locking systems meet the highest standards for enhanced security performance.
This high-performance, multi-point slam lock is PAS 24 tested and generally used in conjunction with ‘Pull’ handles.
The mechanical self-locking system ensures that the door is securely locked against uninvited entry when simply pulled shut. As soon as the door is closed, the automatic latchbolts are secured to prevent them being forced back. From inside, the latchbolts are retracted and the door opened by using a thumbturn or key.
From outside, the latchbolts are retracted and the door opened by a simple turn of the key. The lock is positioned halfway up the door.
Ask your installer for further details on the Kubu Smart Kit.

Meeting the requirements of Secured by Design and PAS 24, all Composite Collection doors come as standard with a Kitemarked euro cylinder which is combined with a cylinder guard to provide a TS007 3 Star security solution.
Made from hardened steel, the cylinder teamed with a cylinder guard is designed to protect against drilling, picking, twisting and bump attacks.
The Heritage slam lock will help you achieve a classic door appearance which is both secure and functional.
The Heritage slam lock works in a similar way to the slam lock, although the lock is positioned twothirds of the way up the door. Simply by closing the door, the top and bottom latches strike the keep and fully engage to become secure deadbolts.
*Only available in Liniar profile
The ABS Ultimate 3 Star Diamond Cylinder upgrade option meets the requirements of the British Kitemark, TS007 3 star, Secured by Design and Sold Secure Diamond testing criteria.
Designed to combat against all known methods of attack on a euro cylinder, the ABS Ultimate has built-in “Active Cam” technology with an advanced internal locking system that prevents access to the inner workings of the door bolt if snapped on the outside. The ABS Ultimate by Avocet remains secure after forced entry snapping attacks and, in most cases, will still be operable with the key from the inside.
Given this unprecedented level of security on ABS locks, in the unfortunate event that a burglar was able to gain access to your property by snapping the ABS cylinder, then Avocet will pay £2000* in compensation to the homeowner.

With a little care and attention, your composite door should continue to look great for years to come!
Your new composite door is extremely low maintenance and is very easy to clean. How often will depend on where you live. For instance, a coastal or industrialised location, or near a busy road, may mean cleaning is required a little more often. We recommend the following to help you get the very best from your composite door:
- Wash the door and door frame with warm soapy water and a soft, lint-free cloth to remove grime and atmospheric deposits.
- Never use a pressure washer or steam cleaner.
- Stubborn marks on the door frame may need to be tackled with a specialised PVC cleaner but please ensure you read the cleaning guidelines carefully to ensure suitability.
- Under no circumstances should you use any solventbased or abrasive cleaners and avoid the use of any adhesives or tack for temporary fixing i.e. For seasonal or other decorations.
- Once every six months or so, apply a little light engineering oil (such as 3 in 1 oil) on all moving parts of the lock, cylinder and hinges.
- We also strongly recommend that you help protect your door from possible natural thermal distortion by engaging the locking points by simply pulling up the handle each time you shut the door.
