Wander Far I had the pleasure of returning to beach-front accommodations, ocean-view suites, a resort spa, and multiple fine dining experiences available at Viceroy Los Cabos. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed like family and are encouraged to explore the stunning architectural sanctuary from the suites to the sand. This property is one of several gems in the luxury hotel chain’s portfolio and Deluxe Version Magazine proudly recognizes Viceroy Los Cabos as a top luxury destination to visit in 2023. Just beyond the sand aboard Cabo Yacht Charters’ premium fleet of floating luxury is the adventure of a lifetime. I slipped away from the resort for a day aboard the 120-foot Neoprene, fully tailored with a crew, cocktails, music, whale watching, and water fun. The yacht’s private chef truly made this luxury charter a culinary experience at sea. I have yet to find a yacht more impressive than this in Baja. It’s simply a movie. From the sea to the sky, my international flights were made completely stress-free with the ease of Set Jet. WELLNESS

EXPLORE THE BEST OF MORPHEUS8 WITH

ENGINEERED AESTHETICS & MED SPA As we age, skin laxity can become an area of concern, no matter how many pull-ups, weights,

or crunches we do. Thanks to an incredibly exciting treatment now available at Engineered Aesthetics and Med Spa, though, those concerns can be a thing of the past! In addition to tightening, the non-surgical Morpheus8 treatment can address hyperpigmentation and small fat pockets. It also provides an overall rejuvenation of the skin, all while sculpting your features! The best part? This state-of-the-art technology delivers spectacular, big results while being minimally invasive as a treatment. FDA-approved Morpheus8 is designed to minimize skin imperfections while tightening and strengthening skin on the face and body. The process begins with microneedling, then boosts the production of collagen and elastin, which are your body’s building blocks for fresh and radiant skin.

“Morpheus8 has been a revolutionary option for my non-surgical patients. Paired with my team’s attention to detail and my professional experience , I recommend coming to Engineered Aesthetics for the optimal results with this treatment,” says Dr. Nitin Engineer. The beauty of Morpheus8 is that it combines traditional microneedling with RF energy, followed by more dramatically rejuvenating effects. RF energy is exerted via a handpiece, which heats underlying tissues of the skin and triggers dramatic collagen production. Another exciting component of the Morpheus8 is its ability to liquefy fat tissue, while sculpting and contouring, as well as refining.

MUSIC

RISING STAR: SOPHIE LOUISE “I found that my voice catered to an alternative, folky kind of sound. That style really speaks to me.”

21-year-old relocated to Nashville, Tennessee a year ago. When asked about the move she begins with a sigh.

When Sophie Louise Hansen – better known by her musical moniker, Sophie Louise – was a little girl, she loved to sing along to the Phantom of the Opera. While they may not have been her finest performances, Sophie’s renditions of “The Point of No Return” and “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” piqued the interest of her parents.

When she’s not working as a hostess or studying online for her University of Nevada-Reno Communications courses, Sophie enjoys writing and relaxing at home with her cats, Dolly and Cordelia. Occasionally she’ll drop by a local venue for a “writer’s round” and play a few of her original tunes.

“I didn’t sound great at first,” Sophie laughs, “but my parents knew that I was passionate about singing, so they eventually signed me up for lessons.” Growing up in Las Vegas, the ultimate show tune town, one would expect Sophie to gravitate toward the theater. As she grew older, however, Sophie’s taste in music would shift into the classic rock spectrum – Elton John, David Bowie, and Queen. In her mid-teens, Sophie would pick up piano and guitar and begin writing songs of her own, drawing inspiration from artists like Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Lana Del Rey.In search of more musical opportunity – and a change of scenery – the

34 | Deluxe Version Magazine

“It was a difficult transition, especially mid-pandemic, but I’m happy to be here. It’s an amazing city and I’m constantly motivated to become a better writer and musician.”

Sophie’s latest single, “Let the Phone Ring”, is a hauntingly beautiful ride inside the layered complexity of loneliness. Her dreamy vocals and delicate chords convey a genuine longing for more than just a message at the tone. Tastefully minimal bass and drums combined with lush synths and playful production make for a polished yet humble piece, worthy of a spot in the most popular of playlists. “‘Let the Phone Ring’ was triggered by a random call from someone in my past. I found myself asking, ‘Why am I answering?’. It’s about moving on and resisting the urge to fall back into old, unhealthy habits.”

While she has begun to visualize her path to success, the 21-year-old isn’t afraid to explore less familiar musical territory in the meantime. Aside from her solo gig, Sophie has been collaborating with young, up-andcoming producers in the Nashville scene, lending her velvety vocals to other pop and even EDM projects. “It’s been a great way to meet other artists and make connections. I love working with people who are as passionate about music as I am.” Sophie Louise plans to keep perfecting her craft – writing and putting out new music on the regular – and building a base of loyal fans along the way. Her dream: return home to Las Vegas and perform on stage at the Life Is Beautiful Music & Art Festival. With tunes like “Let the Phone Ring”, she’s destined to reach the top of the music charts.

EMBRACING THE LIFE-CHANGING IN JOURNALISM

Adventure

Matt Finn

is a FOX News national correspondent based in Los Angeles, California. While earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia, Finn worked several internships in television, print, radio and public relations. His first official job was as a producer with an NBC affiliate in Pennsylvania. His first full-time reporting gig was with a CBS affiliate in Washington state. “You have got to be willing to start very small in this industry,” says Finn. “I did just that for many years.”

The award-winning investigative reporter and journalist began his career with FOX in 2013 on the streets of Las Vegas. Since then, he has covered some of the biggest stories of our time, including the Jussie Smollett trial in Chicago, the fiery George Floyd riots, and the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin.

“FOX has been a life-changing

adventure since day one. I enjoy working with so many of my colleagues and traveling to incredible places.”

Of all the places Finn has been to, including magnificent Maui (see his Instagram for pics), the one that has had the most profound effect on him is war-torn Ukraine. “I was in Lviv when it was struck by several missiles. I witnessed the suffering and anguish of war, and the experience has changed my worldview.” Throughout a career that has placed him all over the political and geological map, Matt Finn has consistently upheld a high standard of unbiased journalism. We look forward to his coverage of major stories for many years to come.

Female Entrepreneurs

LEADING IN BEAUTY:

SANDRA BLEDSOE Successful entrepreneur and beauty boss,

Sandra Bledsoe, is the proud founder of award-winning medspas. Revenge MD is celebrated for helping clients turn looking good and feeling great into a super power able to influence the energy of any room. With an extensive background in weight loss management, aesthetic adjustments, anti-aging, and even sexual health, Bledsoe has built a world class reputation in leading the wellness industry as it has evolved overtime by actualizing life-changing results for her patients. It is this very exchange that has coined Revenge MD as a Top Women-Owned Business Of The Year, where patients are empowered in their pursuit of becoming finer, happier, and healthier with age, which to Sandra and her team is the ultimate revenge! Sandra is acknowledged for her accolades as the most skilled cosmetic injector in Las Vegas. She is also the creator of a proprietary tested technique called “PTSP” (Placement Of Product, Technique, Strength of Product, Pricing), which is a method taught to practitioners to equip them to provide clients with the consistent and predictable results they expect every visit, no matter which Revenge MD location they frequent. Along with cosmetic injectables, Revenge MD offers various wellness therapies such as physician supervised medical weight loss, hormone replacement, IV replenishment, salt facials, PDO threads, and services that actively work to reduce wrinkles, plump lips, and balance one’s profile. While non-surgical face and body restoration are of focus, Sandra’s ultimate goal is to prepare and execute a roadmap for clients to meet a more advanced version of themselves through results-oriented transformation and mind-body-soul connection.

Bledsoe shares, “By connecting our services to meet emotional needs, our clients feel heard and appreciated, which are the building blocks to strong and long-lasting relationships. I personally care a lot about making people feel worthy and I realized that it’s not who people think they are that holds them back, it’s who they think they are not. That’s where Revenge MD shows up to redefine the status quo on how one experiences self worth and self love.” 38 | Deluxe Version Magazine

Bledsoe’s doctrine on wellness is anchored in her understanding that no system operates independent of one another and that the human body has an inevitable will to heal itself. She also advocates that internal wellness and physical beauty are interconnected to where proper nutrition, mental health, and practicing mindfulness are to be equally leveraged along with the treatments and services offered at Revenge MD in order to enjoy the full range of benefits. Not only is Sandra a depth of knowledge, but her passion for sharing education has organically grown into a viral personal brand making real impact rooted in human connection. She selflessly pours into her amazing staff that believes in her leadership, including other entrepreneurs, and each individual that she has the opportunity to uplift. Bledsoe elaborates, “Your legacy is every life you touch. When we wake up each morning and look in the mirror and instantaneously like what we see, we feel good! When we feel good, we treat others better, and when we treat others better, we create a very positive ripple effect throughout the universe. This is called thumbprinting and it is how we engineer a fulfilled future in life and business.” The practice of thumbprinting good energy has been a guiding principle to her rise to fame in the beauty industry, combined with sincerely caring about helping people love the life they lead.

When asked what Bledsoe’s remedy for success in business is, she shares, “Enthusiasm and confidence are two non-negotiables if looking to make it big in this business. Everyone who sets out to conquer their industry and attain long term success has to have passion for what they are doing. The more educated we are, the more passion we develop. Secondly, offerings have to benefit and help people. Last but not least, you have to be highly educated about everything in your field of expertise so you can continue to do it best and be the first to evolve with emerging technology.” Bledsoe also mentioned how she realized early on in her career that she is only going to be as good as her team and because of that, it has to be strong in order to scale. She further explains, “Building a supportive team that practices positive thumbprinting has made us incredibly resilient. We don’t give up or back down and fully support our goal to exceed expectations each and every appointment.” It is this level of mastery that keeps Revenge MD rated #1 medspa and always an extraordinary first class experience!

THE OC SELLS LUXURY WITH

One To Watch

NEWPORT

SEAN PALMIERI

The odyssey of life is experienced through

the excitement of exploring and learning. Wanting to expand beyond imaginable possibilities is the adrenaline of existence; every decision made through the journey reflects where you’re at in this very moment. That is why nothing is coincidental when talking about Sean Palmieri’s life. Palmieri is one of the luxury realtors on the hit Netflix series Selling The OC. However, he didn’t show up on the show out of nowhere with an impressive amount of luxury knowledge. While attending the University of Florida for advertising Palmieri also worked part-time as a Leasing Consultant and Marketing Assistant at a luxury condominium near the school’s campus. It was there that he would discover his passion for the luxury lifestyle. After graduating with an advertising degree but a love for luxury homes, he decided to hone in on his niche and find a way to market high-end real estate.

Palmieri became the Sales and Operations Leader in the Development Division at One Sotheby’s Reality in Miami. Soon after, he began working on projects with the brilliant architect, artist, and designer Zaha Hadid. The connections he built working alongside her would eventually open doors on the opposite side of the country in California. Palmieri followed his intuition and moved from Florida to San Diego, where he was the Marketing Director for a team that became the #1 team at Pacific Sotheby’s. His leadership abilities unsurprisingly became noticed, and Palmieri was now the Marketing Director at Coldwell Banker in Beverly Hills, where he would move on from San Diego. Palmieri was now in the Major Leagues. Working on homes between $20 million and $100 million was all the confidence he needed.

“I purposely was in Marketing for so many years that now I can walk into any home, and I never get intimidated. The grander it is, the easier it is for me. After a history in marketing, you learn how to speak to specific clients and how to market a home to get it sold.” Palmieri says confidently.

If nothing is a coincidence, Palmieri’s next step to begin his real estate career as an agent only seems logical. With an extensive background and all the right connections, it was no surprise that Palmieri was successful. Perhaps it was the universe aligning the stars, but as Palmieri joined The Oppenheim Group as an agent, Netflix’s Selling The OC was made final. Palmieri never thought he would be a reality star; he doesn’t watch TV much. “I said yes because everything the producer, {Adam DiVello} touches is gold, and it’s a really exciting time for real estate in reality TV,” Palmieri says. When asked how it felt being on such a popular show, he said, “Nothing feels too different, although I do have a lot more direct messages,” he laughs. Rightfully so. “I wanted to be smart going into the show because, at the end of the day, I’m working in the industry. I might be new in selling, but in terms of having a good network with the top agents, I still need to keep myself at the level of professionalism I always have.” Palmieri says.

Although being in the public eye and holding such standings in the industry looks glamorous, Palmieri shares that it takes tough skin and persistence to succeed. “Real Estate is cutthroat. You have to learn to stand up for yourself and stay consistent. The luxury market takes a while and can be stressful,” he says. Palmieri also spoke with us about checking in with your mental self. “I make sure I’m not on call 24/7. I used to answer calls at any time of the day. Sometimes I would take calls at 2 am, then wake up and have a 6 am call. Taking time for yourself is so essential in this career. If you feel like you’re done at 7 pm, make sure you’re done.” Palmieri says. “I meditate every morning, and I don’t answer anything before 8 am,” he states. For more million-dollar listings from Palmieri, tune into Netflix’s Selling The OC!

DARREN WALLER

PROVES IT’S BETTER TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE — By Stacey Gualani When tight end Darren Waller joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2018, little did Sin City know he would give as good as he receives. In 2020, he formed The Darren Waller Foundation, and since then, he has worked tirelessly to help young adults “avoid and overcome addiction to drugs and alcohol, and to give support to their families during their recovery and treatment journey.” At the Foundation’s 3rd annual “Beyond the Wall” event held recently at All in Aviation and Lone Mountain Aviation private airport in Henderson, Nev., hundreds donated over $600,000 to his cause, proving #83 is handson, both on and off the field.

“This is what really gives me goosebumps right here; we have provided over half a million in recovery treatment to 38 grant recipients,” said a proud Waller. In total, the 30-year-old athlete-turned-philanthropist’s work has raised millions and impacted thousands of lives in Las Vegas and around the country. For Waller, it’s a cause that hits close to home as he himself battled drug abuse in his teens and well into his football career. After nearly dying from a drug overdose five years ago, Waller turned his life around and continues to maintain his sobriety every day. “I feel like it would’ve been a shame if I had kept quiet about my issues and my story,” admits Waller. “It would’ve been comfortable for me, but what real impact would’ve been made in the world? So, I’m choosing to be uncomfortable as long as it takes for somebody else to benefit from it.” Waller says he’s come a long way thanks to the NFL helping to pay for his drug addiction recovery, and the never-ending love of his family, who were there in person to support him. “I told him [back] then…your father and I are not going to sit here and watch this happen,” says his mother, Charlena. “It’s prayer, tears, crying, all of it, but to see where he is now, and the man that he’s grown into! Every birthday, I tell him I’m still more proud of you than I was last year for what you’re doing.” “They’ve been through every step of the journey, when things weren’t looking so great,” says Waller of his parents and sister. “My mom picking me up along the way; my dad encouraging me along the way—even when there might not have been a lot of hope—they were there alongside me. So, to have them here and to see these things happen, they’re probably just as much in awe of it as I am.” Money raised goes directly to the foundation’s community outreach programs; the ‘Against the Wall’ drug addiction recovery grants to young addicts; and Waller’s touring ‘Wall Talks,” Ted Talk-style presentations that he gives to educate and prevent young adults from going down the path of addiction. But his efforts don’t stop there. Waller also makes time to talk with homeless addicts living in the flood control tunnels under Las Vegas; practice his spirituality and write soul-searching music (check out his latest single “Unfazed!”). It’s just all part of his mission to heal the world from addiction, one yard at a time. “It may not be something that I see completed in my lifetime, but as long as I can contribute to it, I’m okay with that.” To learn more, go to darrenwaller.org

RACHEL MCCORD CHAMPIONS THE UNDERESTIMATED — By Dani Reeves

As journalists, our desire to write starts with the fascinating people we get to interview. Sometimes we’re lucky enough to have a conversation that will guide in the future. Sitting down over lunch with Rachel McCord was like experiencing an uplifting sermon and an awakening therapy session all in one hour. Calling her an influencer is a disservice to the dynamism she exudes when in her presence. With that, do not let the great outfit and perfect hair set you back to when society thought women with a fantastic sense of style couldn’t possibly be brilliant!

“For women, when we love fashion and beauty, we often get underestimated at the table, and I want to cure that; I’d rather you overestimate us!” McCord says passionately. Not at our table, Rachel! We are here to spread the word! McCord is the CEO and founder of the McCord List, Co-founder of LaunchPrenuer, Co-CEO of Launch Viral, a best-selling author, TV personality, and her most significant role yet, a mother. She has been named “Best Dressed Celebrity” by all the infamous fashion magazines and “Master of Branding” by Daily Mail; however, achieving goals of this magnitude didn’t come without a story of hardships and trauma. Growing up in a trailer park in Georgia, McCord experienced a type of pain that unknowingly would be the reason for her motivation. “I believe everything in life happens to put us in the moment we are supposed to be in, even the bad ones. I went through a lot of trauma and abuse, and if you don’t experience pain, you don’t have as much power in that place,” McCord states. To overcome her environment and depression, she read every self-help book she could find. Although working on herself physically through appearance and fashion, McCord knew internal work would be necessary to discover her true purpose. Through hardships and a will to be the best version of herself, she found that service to others was her most fulfilling achievement. “If you’re hitting much adversity, you’re almost there. Acknowledge when you’re experiencing that; that should motivate you to give it your all! Double down because that’s your moment,” McCord says, “But you have to be in a place in your heart where you’re ready to do what you’re meant to do,” she states with a passion. Through life experiences and trial and error, McCord founded the McCord List, a female empowerment master business program, helping entrepreneurs and public figures build and transform their businesses. She offers Business Model and Brand Development, Personal and Professional Branding, and Sales and Marketing Training and Development. “When entrepreneurs come to me, I’m not afraid of diving in to find the purpose of their business; I’m willing to go down the journey with them because I have been there myself,” she says. Recently, McCord has stepped into the most rewarding role of her life as of yet, motherhood. “Becoming a mom accelerated my journey as a purpose-driven worker.” But McCord’s devotion to helping others doesn’t stop with just her; in fact, she and her husband Rick started multiple companies together. Without giving exciting details away just yet, McCord and her family are looking forward to what will come next. “I want to help people live life to the fullest, whether on a red carpet or sitting down to find their purpose and why it matters. MEET MILLION DOLLAR MEET MILLION DOLLAR LISTING NEW YORK’S LISTING NEW YORK’S

Talia McKinney Authenticity. It’s a word that is thrown around a lot these days, in an era of

curated IG feeds, aspirational posts, and countless ‘influencers’. But to renowned New York City-based Realtor, Motivational Speaker, and reality TV star Talia McKinney- it’s what sets her apart from the pack, and what drives her wild success.

Chances are, you recognize Talia from the hugely-popular “Million Dollar Listing: New York” (Bravo), where she works as a part of the famous powerhouse real estate firm, Serhant, under fellow cast member and principal broker Ryan Serhant. If you’re local to New York, the Serhant Group represents premier luxury listings, often in the eight-zero ballpark price point. Talia says her success is a product of her authenticity, persistence, and overall hard work ethic, which was recognized by Serhant after she hounded him for multiple years to work with his team. Prior to working in Luxury Real Estate for the past eight years, Talia says she came to the city fifteen years ago from Pennsylvania- and like so many before, was determined to ‘make it,’ even if that meant working in different fields before settling on her passion. In the early years of living in New York, Talia dabbled in bartending, and waitressing…. eventually working in Fashion and PR. Still, she hadn’t quite found her passion. After seeing “Million Dollar Listing: New York,” she says she reached out to Serhant, and persistence paid off. “I like the fact that he [Serhant] challenged me,” she says. “As a born athlete, competitive, and someone who challenges myself most of all—he is my top competition.” The competitive energy fueling both of them was a match, and Talia joined the team soon after. “Serhant took me under his wing, mentored me, and wanted me to be on the show,” she says. Talia has now appeared on multiple seasons of “MDL: New York”, and says you’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for more seasons. In addition to being a top-earning Realtor at the Brokerage, Talia is an avid speaker, world traveler, and philanthropist. Some notable highlights include: her appearance at TedX, her extensive travels (she’s been to 45+ countries!) and her work volunteering at orphanages. I ask Talia where she derives her inspiration. “I am lucky to come from a family that is grateful and hardworking. I love speaking; I am a very positive person on social media. I’ve also seen a lot of the world, [including] a specialty orphanage in Vietnam,” she says. She acknowledges that real estate is a competitive field, but she again attributes her successes to her passion for making others happy. What’s next for Talia? Having gleaned the necessary knowledge from Ryan Serhant, she says she is ready to build a team of her own.

“I think of my team as a family, and coworkers who become friends are invaluable.” She also cites mentoring as an area she continues to enjoy, and is looking for people with experience in New York specifically. As a record-breaking realtor, speaker, host, and philanthropist, the world is Talia McKinney’s oyster and we know she will continue growing her empire for many years to come.

Las Vegas is known for attracting the biggest names in sports and

entertainment – from pro boxers to popstars – and Michele Sullivan is excited to be in on the action. Already one of the top luxury real estate brokers on the West Coast, Michele is now the Head of Douglas Elliman’s Sports and Entertainment Division in Las Vegas. “Vegas has become the Mecca of sports and entertainment – The MSG Sphere is nearing completion, Formula One is coming next year, and new Las Vegas NBA and MLB teams are in the works. It’s such an exciting time to be part of Douglas Elliman!” Michele’s extensive network includes some of the most elite, high networth athletes and entertainers in the country. This network allows her to secure off-market deals discreetly while providing her signature whiteglove service. Michele’s new position at Douglas Elliman is a testament to her tireless work ethic. Always on the go and searching for new opportunities in real estate, Michele recently identified a trend of people leaving California spurred by investment opportunities in Las Vegas. Now licensed to practice in California, Michele is able to make her clients’ transition easier than ever. “It makes sense to serve SoCal as well. A lot of high net-worth clients are looking to relocate to Las Vegas, many of whom still wish to spend their summers in California. There is a massive crossover between the two markets.”

While the idea of operating in two major real estate markets might be a daunting task for most brokers, it certainly isn’t for Michele. Douglas Elliman earned $51.2 billion in closed sales last year alone, and its high caliber network allows her to be in two places at once.

“Our network of luxury brokers is unparalleled. It allows me to connect luxury buyers and sellers quickly and efficiently while traveling between markets. It’s been incredibly easy! I’ve already worked with several clients requiring my services in both Las Vegas and LA.” Michele Sullivan will continue to provide her clients with the ‘Ultimate Luxury Experience’ as Head of the Sports and Entertainment Division for Douglas Elliman. BROOKE BURKE TA LKS KIDS , HEALT H , & F I T N E S S E MP I R E

From coveted lingerie model to popular television

host to fitness guru, Brooke Burke has lived many lives in her fifty-one years on this planet and her more than two decades in the entertainment industry. She is living proof that you can grow wiser and more self-assured while remaining healthy, vibrant and youthful through total body wellness, both inside and out. During my conversation with Brooke, she muses about the hard-earned lessons she’s gained from two divorces, one of which she laments was from “the love of my life,” her journey in healing from thyroid cancer, her sharp rise in television and then sudden dismissal from ABC/Disney primetime juggernaut Dancing with the Stars, and some humbling moments that ultimately led to reflection and re-invention. Now at midlife and definitely not looking worse for wear, Brooke has once again found what she calls “a healthy love” with longtime partner Scott Rigsby. She’s applying her mind, body, and spirit-based wisdom toward helping other women through her mobile and steaming fitness platform Brooke Burke Body and her superfood blends, Brooke Burke Longevity. When pressed about women and body image, Brooke insists that her platform is about engaging women on a holistic level to help them feel healthy, strong and confident no matter their body type or previous level of fitness. What are three pivotal events that have made you the person you are today? Motherhood is the obvious one, but it really did instantly change my whole life. It’s my greatest learning opportunity. They’re my best teachers and it’s the greatest and hardest part of my life. I’m just keeping it real. Another one that is funny but true is winning Dancing with The Stars, which was a huge accomplishment and the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done, and I’ve never worked harder at anything else in my life. It was thrilling, and even though it’s a silly mirror ball

trophy, like big deal; it was three months, seven days a week of blood, sweat, pain and tears, and everything in between. Did you think you had any shot of winning at the time? No. I actually wanted to stick around for a couple weeks (laughs). And then halfway through, you kind of want to get out of it because it’s so difficult. So that was amazing, and that segued me into hosting the show, which was also fantastic. Another pivotal event in life was divorce, because that really changes you, and changed my expectations and the way I approached life. It taught me how to surrender and taught me about self-love, acceptance, and the power of change. It started me on my journey of transformation. I think after 19 years of marriage, having those moments by myself was really telling and eye opening. It’s an amazing opportunity to be by myself as a woman, which you really don’t get if you’re married and you’re with children. You started as a Fredericks of Hollywood model way back in the day and you successfully made the leap to television with your first show, E!’s Wild On!? I’m sure a lot of models would love an opportunity like that. How did it happen? I think it’s a painful story for some people to hear, because it wasn’t like I pounded the pavement and went on every audition. I actually was doing commercial advertising and studying business advertising in school. I was doing some modeling and I went on an audition a friend of mine sent me on for the Wild On! gig. It was just taking advantage of the right opportunity. I accepted the gig and learned on the road and got all of my entertainment experience within my first contract on E!. It was an amazing show to do. We covered 40 countries in a short period of time, and more than 100 countries around the world. I actually brought my daughter Neriah on the road with me as a baby for the first few years of her life. Then that segued into other things. I love being in the

wellness space right now. I never thought I would be in this business and start my own company (Brooke Burke Body). I knew I would start my own business, and I’m really passionate about it. I love this space it’s so fulfilling and it’s the greatest way that I know how to connect with women around the world. I’m doing something that feels good and that really matters to me. Was fitness always a huge part of your life, or did your 2012 diagnoses with thyroid cancer jumpstart your fitness journey? Fitness was always a big part of my life. I think I have a much better and much clearer understanding of my body today than I did back then. Being diagnosed with thyroid cancer segued me into being an advocate for women’s health, and it was really because of the process of being diagnosed during a yearly physical. It gave me an understanding of the value of medical knowledge and kind of fighting for that and telling my story to inspire and to help many other people. It was about understanding the value of being a great patient and understanding the medical possibilities that we have today. I really do believe that it’s the mind, body and spirit. It’s the union of all these things. I can show people how to get in shape all day long. It’s not just how we care for ourselves, it’s also how we speak to ourselves, how we meet ourselves, how we fuel our bodies. How we get our inner strength is really important to me. The messaging of Brooke Burke Body is really about mindful fitness, mindful movement, and incorporating mantras. It’s knowing how to slow down and listen, valuing yourself and changing our inner dialogue.

DAVID BLAINE I N

S P A D E S

It’s Blaine’s World And We’re Just Living In It. If you like your prestidigitation with a little regurgitation, David Blaine has that in spades as the newest and edgiest magic man on the Las Vegas Strip. DAVID BLAINE: IN SPADES at Resorts World Las Vegas is the first-ever residency for the street magician-turnedworld-renowned daredevil, but after 20 years of deathdefying stunts, unimaginable illusions, and mind-blowing card tricks, I am pleased to report Blaine hasn’t lost any of his…well, magic. I found that out firsthand before our interview when Blaine surprised me with two new jaw-dropping card tricks for my birthday…over FaceTime! I was speechless, but clearly, he was feeling frisky post-opening weekend. “This show is everything I had hoped for, dreamed of and imagined,” says Blaine. “It’s taken me many years, but it’s coming together exactly how I planned.” Mind you, his is not just your basic pull-a-rabbit-out-of-ahat kind of magic act. To understand Blaine’s world is to know he has survived being frozen in ice for 63 hours; being buried in an

50 | Deluxe Version Magazine

underground coffin for seven days; and being suspended atop a 100-foot pillar for 35 hours. “Everything is possible,” says the man who also broke a record holding his breath underwater for over 17 minutes and fasted inside a Plexiglass box over the River Thames for 44 days. (October 19th marked the 19th anniversary of his unboxing!) But an on-going Las Vegas production in front of a live audience was uncharted territory…until now.

“Every show will be different until I feel the show is exactly what it needs to be, which means it will be changing every single night until it’s done,” says Blaine. Without revealing too much, because you really need to experience IN SPADES in person, Blaine makes full use of the enormous theater inside Resorts World. He dives 78 feet (20 G’s!) into cardboard boxes; performs silly human tricks like the “Smash and Stab” or “Needle and Thread;” and shocks with the aforementioned regurgitation (think hangers, wedding rings, frogs, etc.), most of the time with audience participation.

FEATURE STORY

Oh, did I mention the underwater breath hold with an alligator? They are unthinkable feats that, over time, can take its toll on the 49-yearold’s injury-prone body. During a recent show, he told the audience he had to get an MRI after a practice jump! “The show can only be twice a month because of all of the different pieces that I’ve put into this one night,” admits Blaine. “So that makes it physically demanding at a level that doesn’t compare to my endurance stunts or anything that I’ve done in my life.” Denise Albert, IN SPADES producer and founder of The MOMS and My Cancer Family, first met Blaine when (small world!) she and I worked together at Inside Edition 20 years ago. She produced his 2006 “Drowned Alive” special, but to this day, she worries about Blaine’s life-threatening stunts. “I worked on so many of the pieces in the show and over the years, we have talked about so many ideas,” says a proud Albert. “I kept wanting to tell him ‘NO!’ [but] decided, if I’m going to work for David Blaine, I have to make things possible. There are certainly some things I can’t watch, but those are the parts his fans come to see!” Many of those fans include a who’s who of celebrity sightings. Blaine is a magnet for famous folks; heck, even Edward Norton, Oscar-nominated actor and FOD (friend of David), took on the role of emcee during the premiere. “I think I’m just lucky that the people I look up to, like my card tricks,” jokes Blaine.

52 | Deluxe Version Magazine

While he is committed through March 2023, Blaine has already promised his young daughter this will be his last high-risk show. He turns 50 next year and doesn’t want to follow the same path as his hero Harry Houdini, who died at 52. “[I will go] as long as I’m physically able to do this,” says Blaine. “But my goal was to not go past the age that Houdini died because he pushed his body too hard; then one night after a show, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital and died on Halloween.” While we’re not the only ones holding our breath during IN SPADES, many agree Blaine has far surpassed his childhood hero. Howard Stern claims he is “the greatest magician who ever lived,” and The New Yorker once boasted, “David Blaine saved magic.” Ultimately, stunts or no stunts, as long as there’s a deck of cards handy, Blaine’s legacy is secure.

“Hopefully, I’m remembered as a great father and somebody who loves to bring magic to people.” After my birthday with Blaine, he is certainly aces in my book. (But I still can’t believe how he got that two of hearts in my pocket!)

PHILANTHROPY SPOTLIGHT

Ronn Nicolli AT RESORTS WORLD LAS VEGAS

All red carpets lead to Zouk Nightclub. Since Resorts World Las Vegas opened in 2021, it’s been a who’s who of headlining acts lining up to perform, thanks in large part to a team led by nightlife impresario Ronn Nicolli. The Zouk stages are so in demand, Nicolli is hard pressed to name any possible future “gets.” “If you asked me that question a year and a half ago, I would have mentioned names like Tiësto, Zedd, Jack Harlow, G Eazy, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Jay Balvin,” said Nicolli. “The reality is they are all here now and we really have brought in some of the greatest talents in the entertainment world to Zouk.” Nicolli has been doing double duty to establish a “runway of awareness” for Resorts World as a key travel destination. Not only is he Zouk Group Vice President of Nightlife, but he was also named Chief Marketing Officer for the Strip property. After 20 years learning the ropes in the evolution of Vegas nightlife, the Ohio transplant says his “untraditional” journey is a dream come true. “Using my education in marketing and a nightlife path to create growth opportunities for myself, it was always a goal of mine to become the CMO of a major resort property here in Las Vegas,” says Nicolli. “Leaders here at RWLV—including Scott Sibella, Peter Lavoie and Doni Taube—have really made me more wellrounded in terms of my knowledge, which has amplified my skill set.” Nicolli prides himself on maintaining a combined 80 years of brand tradition with Resorts World and Zouk Group, and creating great content that gets guests excited so they can have the best nights of their lives. His success in the city has also inspired this married father of two daughters to give back. After volunteering with numerous charities, Nicolli says the Discovery Children’s Museum—a nonprofit dedicated to the educational enrichment of children through hands on, interactive learning—reached out for his help on their 2021 gala and to become a board member. He couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be more active in the community.

“I do not take things for granted,” says Nicolli. “I want to be involved in the next generation, and I want to express gratitude for what the city of Las Vegas has provided for myself and my family, through these years.” He credits his wife of 13 years for getting him here, creating a balance and bridging the divide between life on and off the Strip. “Discovery Children’s Museum really gave me a platform … and a home to be a part of something special and that is very meaningful to me,” admits Nicolli. “I am already thinking of next year’s gala, and what more I can do with them.”

GIVING BACK

CARRIE WUCINICH’S MISSION:

KINDNESS CONQUERS Carrie Wucinich has always been driven

by a desire to help children. Born in Colorado, Carrie grew up outside of Elko, Nevada. Her life’s journey landed her in Las Vegas, where she graduated from dental hygiene school in 2008. Now a dental hygienist, author, and mother of two, she has decided to join the fight against childhood cancer. After listening to Warrior Mom and now-great-friend, Mary Ricciardi, speak about losing her son Cooper to cancer, Carrie immediately decided to help families affected by the disease. “I was heartbroken. I had recently become a mother myself and the thought of losing a child was unfathomable to me.” The mission of Kindness Conquers is to “Bring Light to the Fight” by connecting with families that need assistance, lifting their spirits and providing them with economic and emotional support. A portion of the profits from Carrie’s successful children’s book, Where the Sugar Bugs Live, a playful take on the importance of teeth-brushing, has also gone toward funding the project. “We can’t make cancer go away, but what we can do is help support these families in need.”

56 | Deluxe Version Magazine

From the time a child is diagnosed, to well after their final chemo treatment, families of childhood cancer patients are under constant economic and emotional stress. Even after a child enters remission, the medical bills continue to pile up. One mother revealed to Carrie that she had recently received a bill for $950,000.00. Without insurance she would be drowning in debt, an all-too common scenario for other, less fortunate families. In the current climate of inflation overload these scenarios have gotten worse. Many patients come from a one-income household. With gas prices through the roof, the cost of driving to and from clinics and hospitals is a tremendous burden. Having realized the magnitude of her mission, Carrie was overjoyed to hear that her long-time friend and top Nevada and California attorney, Nick Pomponio, would be joining the fight. With hundreds of families in Las Vegas alone going through treatment, Pomponio’s resources and community connections could not have come at a better time. “Nick has supported Kindness Conquers from day one. He truly cares about our cause and wants to give back to the childhood cancer community in any way he can.”

Kindness Conquers recently provided art supplies for children on the 5th and 6th floor of Las Vegas’ Summerlin Children’s Hospital. In October they will be partnering with Goody’s Original Popcorn to host a movie night – donating blankets, fun snacks and streaming a movie for the kids to watch and enjoy.

“These kids can’t go to movies, so we’re going to bring it to them.” September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so Carrie and Nick have organized an event at the Las Vegas Ballpark on September 25th to watch the Aviators take on the Reno Aces. Pomponio Law will be hosting a suite for the warrior children and their families to sit back, take their minds off of fighting cancer, and “JUST BE KIDS!” Please join us on this fun night to support Kindness Conquers! $5 of every ticket purchased through the link below will be donated directly to Kindness Conquers!

Rebecca Wright is blazing a female trail

within the male-dominated security industry. She is also helping to make the world a safer place. Originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, Rebecca attended Georgia Military College before moving to Atlanta to pursue a career in the music industry. As Project Manager for Redzone Entertainment Rebecca would work alongside the team responsible for Beyonce’s current #1 record “Break My Soul”, Grammy Award Winning producers Chistopher “Tricky” Stewart and Terius “The-Dream” Nash, coordinating recording sessions for some of the biggest artists in pop music – Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin Beiber and Katy Perry, to name a few. Rebecca assumed the roles of Creative Director and Director of A&R respectively with Redzone before moving to Island Def Jam Records in 2009, where she would be responsible for curating track listings for various Def Jam album releases and developing the label’s new business opportunities. Since her departure from the music industry in 2013, Rebecca has been thriving in various brand management and government contract consulting roles. Most recently she served as the brand manager for Queen Diambi, the traditional ruler of the Democratic Republic of Congo, overseeing her travel logistics and securing speaking engagements. Rebecca’s latest venture, Shadow On Demand, is a revolutionary new private security service platform which allows access to top tier military veterans for security needs that have previously only been accessible to the elite.

“With increased tension and crime rates across the United States, Shadow on Demand will be vital in establishing safety and security for all while utilizing the qualified, proven veterans that served our country. Safety is urgent and must be available to all. We hope to act as a hub for security service providers to connect with those needing protection. I am honored to be a part of this important mission.” Rebecca shares. Rebecca joined the Shadow on Demand team earlier this year after reconnecting with her long-time friend, Ronald “June” Walton Jr., the company’s founder and CEO.

A decorated 15-year veteran of the U.S. military, June decided to assemble a team of security experts – ranging from the top names in music industry security to military special operations planners – to serve as Shadow’s organizational foundation. The only thing missing was Rebecca’s expertise in management, branding, and international relations. “Working with Rebecca has truly pushed our mission to new heights,” says June. “Her ability to bring structure and assist with overseas operations has been invaluable. It is a blessing to have her as our COO. Being a woman in a male dominated space, she is making her mark like never before.” Shadow on Demand has recently partnered with Bourgone Systems Inc., a professional security consulting company. Founded by a drill instructor for Los Angeles Police Department, Stinson Brown, Bourgone Systems Inc. specializes in security planning and executive protection. When his son was murdered July 18, 2009, Stinson Brown devoted his life to mentoring young people and training them in U.S. military tactics. Rebecca first met Brown after Bourgone indirectly contracted Shadow on Demand for an international mission.

“That right there blew my mind because it provoked me to evaluate Bourgone’s needs and made me realize Rebecca and her company Shadow On Demand would be a great asset to us.” Back in the States, Shadow on Demand has also partnered and worked closely with Phalanx Executive Protection Security Service’s Johnny Alvarez for emergency missions such as Hurricane Ian relief in Florida, where over 150 guards were deployed to protect residences and businesses. Future Shadow endeavors include supplying qualified veteran security guards for public schools across the United States and developing a non-profit organization to provide mental health support for veterans transitioning to civilian life. Shadow on Demand hosted an event in Las Vegas during the annual Close Protection Security Conference to award allies like Stinson Brown and Johnny Alvarez for their outstanding achievements and service.

BILLIE WILDE

EMPOWERS PEOPLE & THE PLANET Every piece of jewelry tells a story and the grass-

roots of contemporary designer Ballantyne Paige’s wild success began years prior to the manifestation of her global luxury brand, Billie Wilde Collections. Among Ballantyne’s humbling chapters in search for a greater purpose, she set out on a humanitarian trip to Nepal and became a caretaker for 16 orphans, thriving in her ability to build upon intricate details that make moments meaningful. Although Ballantyne has always trusted the timing of her life, nothing could have prepared her to survive the 2015 Nepal earthquake that tragically took the lives of many and devastated the surrounding rural villages. Ballantyne’s days and nights were suddenly filled with terror witnessing the natural disaster unfold for multiple unplanned months. Lost in an open field with the 16 young children and no shelter, they endured 38 aftershocks, torrential rain, and had limited food and water supplies. Days after the grueling fight for life itself, she made a personal vow among the ruins to devote her life’s mission to uplifting the well-being of others. Mirroring the way diamonds evolve under extreme pressure, Ballantyne transformed her shocking experience into the unshakeable power source that fuels her jewelry brand today with philanthropy and protecting the planet at the forefront. As a child Ballantyne, known as Billie by close friends and family, became passionate about playing dress up and experimenting with necklaces and clip-on earrings, lovingly sponsored by the vintage treasures discovered inside of her grandmother’s jewelry box. Expressing her personality throughout each unique stage of her life has always been meaningful to Ballantyne and she found that not only are semi precious stones, jewels, and beaded accessories enchanting to the eye, but they are also powerful forms of alchemy that can be utilized to build confidence, ground good energy, heal, and enhance both inner and outer beauty. Naturally, Ballantyne took it upon herself to master the fine art of jewelry design with loving intentions of making a positive impact on how people nurture their authentic selves. Ever since the framework of Ballantyne’s mission became crystal clear and in alignment with her values, she has invited nature and modern architecture to inspire each new collection. In addition to her creations helping others, she has also positioned her business to donate a portion of profit to give back and support to the villages in Nepal where her journey first came to fruition. Billie Wilde Collections company pledge reimagines a harmonious world in collaboration with charitable partnerships and fair trade eco-friendly vendors. Ballantyne elaborates, “We are committed to producing jewelry with care for the planet, and immense care for others. We do not contribute to global waste or excess and that’s why we only use recycled gold in our pieces from suppliers who uphold strict practices to prevent human trafficking.” Furthermore, Ballantyne is emotionally invested in flourishing the empowerment of

58 | Deluxe Version Magazine

women worldwide and believes that every being has the human right to become their own hero. She proudly donates 100% of the proceeds from her intricate handcrafted Beaded Collection to The Grace Center in Nepal, which is an organization that provides safety and assistance for individuals who have recently left incarceration.

When asked about her journey as an entrepreneur, Ballantyne shares, “Launching Billie Wilde Collections was one of the most vulnerable things I have ever done. There were so many risks along the way that I almost didn’t take in fear of failing. Looking back, they have been some of my most rewarding moments.” Ballantyne’s jewelry is heart centered in supporting one’s journey of self love and is encouraged to be worn as an expression of divinity as we flow in and out of dynamic challenges that conspire to shape our highest potential. In addition to the significance, each collection is influenced by people, places, and feelings that intrigue Ballantyne’s ingenuity as an artist. The Manhattan Collection placates off of the poetic architecture of New York City, Ballantyne’s new hometown and company headquarters. The Jungle Collection is all about the balancing act of survival in the wilderness and the will of everlasting love. It features gold and blue topaz while the engraved Mountain Collection glimmers with pink sapphire in spirit of the Himalayas. Her collections also include charming chain necklace options made exclusively in Italy, as well as iridescent earrings, rings, bracelets, and stunning textured pendants. Ballantyne takes pride in showing her appreciation for every order and has carefully engineered the entire Billie Wilde experience to take pleasure in making customers feel special from the moment goods

are received draped in personalized packaging with a card, polishing cloth, and a microfiber storage pouch for after the unboxing. Whether enjoyed as a keepsake or shared as a gift that keeps on giving, all of Ballantyne’s jewelry is made with unconditional love connected to the wonderful world of Billie Wilde Collections.

SHINES AT VIRGIN HOTELS LAS VEGAS You may have seen Destiny Malibu’s face on billboards in Vegas or in

LA. Or perhaps you were lucky enough to catch her recent jaw-dropping performance in the Shag Room at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The highlight of the night: her rendition of “At Last” by Etta James. You could hear a pin drop. “That was the best rendition of ‘At Last’ that I’ve ever heard in my life,” said the sound engineer. “I was speechless.” Originally from California, Destiny often drew inspiration from the ocean. Now a Lake Las Vegas resident, she loves being able to live by the water, even in the middle of the desert.

“I just can’t get over the beauty of Lake Las Vegas. The village reminds me of Europe, and the beach vibes make me feel right at home.” The Lake Las Vegas community has been extremely welcoming to Destiny. After losing friends and loved ones in the Woolsey Fire of 2018 (and narrowly escaping herself), Destiny was emotionally distraught. The onset of the pandemic, which began shortly after her move to Vegas, didn’t help. Her music would be a profound form of therapy for herself and those around her. She would often perform at yacht parties on the lake and live stream to her flourishing fanbase. Having overcome many obstacles, the topic of mental health is extremely important to Destiny. It’s a theme she often includes in her songwriting, the best example being her upcoming single “Say My Name”. You can hear it at the start of her podcast – The Destiny Malibu Podcast – which is currently ranked in the top five percent of the nation. With performances happening at her favorite Virgin Hotels property, things are popping off for Destiny Malibu. She looks forward to hitting the road in her new tour bus – which she has casually nicknamed “Paradise,” – and playing a host of colleges and other top national venues in promotion of her fourth studio album. As an added bonus, her podcast co-host and sister, DJ Dezzee, will be curating the music in between sets.

The Las Vegas native left one entertainment capital for another when she decided to pursue a career in Los Angeles where she recently took the big screen alongside Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock in Bullet Train. Growing up in Henderson with a father who worked in the show ticket business, Emelina was always around entertainment. She knew she wanted to be in the performing arts industry and found her way to the stage at a young age through theater, choir and modeling. Recognizing a common stepping stone for many successful actresses, she found her way into the pageant world. Her first time competing in Miss Nevada she made the top 10. While in college at University of Arizona, she was crowned first runner up in Miss Arizona in 2014. As a proud Nevadan, she wanted to win for her hometown and went on to be crowned Miss Nevada USA 2016. Emelina attributes her success to never giving up and believing in herself.

“If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else is going to believe in you.” Reflecting on her pageants, Emelina says they prepared her for everyday life – not just in the entertainment industry. They shaped her into who she is today and taught her about etiquette, presenting herself and always having an answer to any question.

66 | Deluxe Version Magazine

Modeling since age 18, Emelina continued to reach for the stars. Winning Miss Nevada really kick-started her modeling career, and, after nearly 10 years in the industry, she secured her dream brand: Guess x Marciano. You may have even passed her billboard on La Cienega near Beverly Center featuring her in their latest national campaign. With her passion for performance, she went on to book Bullet Train in 2020. The SONY Studio in Culver City was the biggest set she’s ever been on. “Everyone was so nice and welcoming,” she says. “It was a dream come true.” She admits that she was scared to move to LA but she is so happy she did. “It’s scary taking risks, but they can really change your life. You just have to go after what you want, be persistent and don’t look back.” It was a full-circle moment for Emelina filming another movie, this time in her hometown, with Back on The Strip starring Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish and Wesley Snipes. “I am living my dream,” Emelina says. “If you would’ve told me I would be doing this five or ten years ago, I would say no way.” What’s next for Emelina? The recently-engaged, up-and-coming actress booked a co-star role on a HBO show coming soon and has more movies on the way.

SHORT FILMS

INSIDE THE MIND OF AWARD-WINNING FILM DIRECTOR

MICHAEL WEIL Michael Weil is an award-winning writer, director, and editor. At just four years of age he would often sneak into his parents’ room to watch classic movies such as Indiana Jones, Robin Hood, and Alien. As he grew older, Weil began using a camcorder to shoot skateboarding sessions with his friends around his hometown of Redondo Beach, California. Now an accomplished filmmaker in his mid-thirties, Weil looks back fondly on his youth.

“I loved movies so much that I knew, in early adolescence, that I wanted to be involved in film in some way. Filming and creating skating videos and skits further supported that passion and marked the beginning of my learning process.” Weil started small, using his Canon 5D and iPhone 4 to record comedy skits and gym videos. After college he would find work as a production assistant on several major projects, including commercials and music videos for Vogue, Disney, and Britney Spears. “Watching the execution in every department of these major productions was an extremely rewarding form of schooling. As my experience grew I began to increase the quality of my gear – cameras, lenses, etc. – and study them intently.”

68 | Deluxe Version Magazine

Weil would get his first taste of success in 2013 as Director of Photography on the band 80-Proof’s hit music video, “Runnin”. The video was nominated for “Best Music Video of the Year” at the 2013 OC Music Awards alongside No Doubt’s “Settle Down”. That same year, a video Weil submitted to Doritos was selected within the top tier of finalists as their official Super Bowl commercial. He would also create a fitness commercial which received over 50k views within the first 48 hours of its release. Three years later, his “first serious narrative project”, The Deal – which Weil directed, edited, and produced – went on to win “Best Short Film” at the Sunscreen Film Festival West. Since then he has been able to focus solely on his own creative ventures. Weil’s latest project is a short film entitled GRACE, the story of which revolves around a ballet dancer (played by Weil’s wife, Brazilian actress Moyale Guardini) who has suffered a career-ending leg injury. After receiving a mysterious phone call from someone in her past, the dancer finds herself at a severe spiritual crossing. The film is Co-Starred and Co-Executive Produced by Michael Madsen (Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs). “With GRACE, I wanted to tell the story of someone who had dedicated their entire life to a craft, only to see it taken away abruptly. Their injury forces them to seek meaning in other facets of life.” Weil, who describes the film as a “heavy psychological drama”, drew inspiration for the film’s plot from a personal experience he had while snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain seven years ago. After hitting a big jump and losing control mid-air, Weil would shatter a femur and partially break his L7 vertebrae upon landing.

“My accident brought me closer to God. I have a titanium rod in my leg and it reminds me that I’m lucky to be alive and walking.” GRACE premiered at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood on September 27th. The event was dedicated to three people who were involved in the project and have since passed on: Weil’s father Dan, Guardini’s father Marcos, and Madsen’s son, Hudson. The film has since embarked upon a major festival run and has begun its campaign for “Best Short Film” at the Academy Awards. Weil and his wife Moyale co-own a production company called M&M. They are currently working on a new drama/action/epic feature, as well as a TV series with the Los Angeles lifestyle as a backdrop. Apart from film, Weil has served as Sr. VIP Sales & Marketing for the iconic Tao Group since 2017. “I love meeting new people and learning about their life experiences. Fortunately, Tao properties attract a super unique and passionate clientele. It’s an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling job.” When he’s not out on the town or crushing it creatively, Michael Weil can be found at church, the movies, the gym, the beach, or at the dog park with his Pomeranian puppy, Max.

LEGACY CLUB’S UNRIVALED COCKTAIL EXPERIENCE Sip in style at Legacy Club. Perched high above Circa Resort & Casino, at the epicenter of Downtown Las Vegas, the upscale lounge boasts an expansive terrace – complete with fancy fire pits – offering arguably the best sunset views in the city. Legacy Club Rooftop Cocktails opened December 2020, following Circa’s grand reveal: a two-story casino, the world’s largest sportsbook, and Stadium Swim’s year-round aquatic amphitheater. Its name and décor honor the icons and pioneers who made Las Vegas the “entertainment capital of the world” – metal busts of Steve Wynn, Frank Fertitta Jr., Barron Hilton, and eight others line the 60th-floor entryway leading to a display of 1,000 ounces in pure gold.

The Legacy Club’s cocktail selection is exceptional. Guests are encouraged to build their own Old Fashioned from a choice of over 200 whiskeys. The lounge’s namesake Legacy Club cocktail is a new take on a traditional Clover Club, a drink which predates Prohibition, and comes highly recommended. For cigar lovers there is a humidor at the bar offering several brands including Arturo Fuente, Montecristo, Padron, and Rocky Patel. For a breathtaking view and an expertly crafted cocktail, look no further than the Legacy Club.

Wynn Las Vegas Showcases The

WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS AUTOMOBILES LAS VEGAS CONCOURS d’ELEGANCE In late October, Las Vegas was the epicenter of the automotive world – as 230 of the most famous, rare, and expensive automobiles rolled onto the lush green fairways of the famed Wynn Las Vegas Golf Club – for the debut of the Third Annual Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance. It is the crème de la crème of automobile shows that elevates truly outstanding and amazing vehicles to a mesmerizing art form. It is a one-of-a-kind grand Trifectca… that is first, a registry of the world’s finest automobiles… that then brings them together to view on just one day… and then has them vie for recognition as the “best of the best” in automotive excellence. Today, there are numerous Concours exhibitions in exotic locations worldwide, and Stuart Sobek – an avid classic car aficionado (who had been attending such shows for over 35 years) – thought “Why not here in the Entertainment Capital of the World as well,” and as Founder and CEO, he brought the initial Concours to Las Vegas. Now in its third year, Grand Marshal, Jay Leno (sans denim shirt), welcomed more than 3,000 devotees to the lavish three-day event that included a black-tie gala kick-off dinner on Friday, Concours Day – with 149 classic automotive superstars poised for competition on Wynn’s lush 3rd fairway and 81 sleek Hyper-cars hugging the 16th – and an “only in Las Vegas” Tour d’Elegance finale parade of over 100 cars down the Strip on Sunday morning. The “Best of Show” Helene Awards are another Sobek/Las Vegas Concours innovation honoring 1940s automotive designer, Helene Rother. This recognition brought her into the spotlight as the industry’s first female designer, and as a result, she was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame in July 2021. This year’s two Best of Show winners were: (1) an extremely rare, silver 1933 Duesenberg from the Nethercutt Collection in the Pre-War Class and (2) a 1951 Delahaye 235 from the Mullen Museum in the PostWar Class. While there were many outstanding winners in 15 specialty classes, collectively these rare and spectacular cars are valued at over 50 million with some as high as 5 million individually.

74 | Deluxe Version Magazine

“Partnering with the fabulous Wynn Las Vegas brought two amazing and unique brands together,” notes Stuart Sobek, “ for an entertainment and automotive experience like no other.” However, in case you missed this one… don’t worry. “The best is yet to come,” he adds. Plans for next year’s Las Vegas Concours are already underway and it is anticipated to be bigger and better than ever. Why? One of the biggest events in Las Vegas history is scheduled to take place in tandem with the 2023 show.

The Fourth Annual Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance takes place right around the same time as the spectacular Formula 1 Grand Prix Race coming to Las Vegas November 16-18. This race, along with the Las Vegas Concours, seeks to create a world-class epic event that is beyond exciting. “Plan to purchase your tickets and make your reservations as soon as they become available,” notes Sobek. “The eyes of the world will be on Las Vegas… and you won’t want to miss it.” Seeing the most famous, rare, and expensive automobiles in the world and hearing “Gentlemen, start your engines!” – together – is the unparalleled combination of a lifetime. Be there.

HOSPITALITY

JING LAS VEGAS IS MORE THAN A VIBE JING Las Vegas has become the go-to destination for off-Strip dining. After more than fifteen years of culinary conquest in Colorado, JING has

expanded to Sin City, bringing its legendary global fusion cuisine and high energy atmosphere to the community of Summerlin. What makes JING Las Vegas so special? The dynamic duo of General Manager Rob Velez and Executive Chef Thomas Griese. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Rob Velez has held a variety of hospitality leadership positions. As Senior Food & Beverage Manager for the San Francisco Giants, Rob opened the esteemed Gotham Club in 2014. After moving to Vegas in 2018 he would serve as GM of two Aria restaurants – first Chef Shawn McClain’s Sage, then Mina Group’s Bardot Brasserie – before joining JING in the spring of 2021. Following his apprenticeship at world-renowned The French Laundry, Indiana-born chef Thomas Griese has gone on to grace some of Las Vegas’ most venerable kitchens with his unique form of culinary genius, including Sage, Andre’s at Monte Carlo, Alize at The Palms, Le Cirque at Bellagio, and Charlie Palmer Steak at The Four Seasons. While working together in Aria’s COVID response team, helping to maintain and winterize the property while feeding first responders and security, Thomas and Rob would develop a strong bond. Following Sage’s closing in 2020, Thomas would be recruited by JING owner Charlie Huang. When Charlie asked Thomas if he knew a solid GM, only one name came to mind.

“I asked Rob to come to check us out,” recalls Chef Thomas. “He really dug the food and ambiance, and our owner Charlie liked him instantly. It was meant to be.”

Since then, the two have set out on a quest to run the best globally-inspired restarant in Vegas. So far they’re succeeding. Offering up the best in sushi, steak and seafood, JING Las Vegas is three restaurants in one. Its state-of-the-art scratch kitchen imports fresh seafood every day while its in-house butcher shop produces the highest quality, never-frozen cuts. They even have a Chinese wok section and a cutting-edge dry-aging program for their selection of choice meats. If that wasn’t enough, they’ve got vegan options to boot!

“I told Charlie: give me carte blanche and I’ll give you the best,” says Thomas. “A lot of our clientele are locals and they know great food, so we’re here to provide that.” The fantastic food isn’t JING’s only appealing attribute, there’s also the vibe. Beginning with a happy hour from 5-6 PM, JING offers a family-friendly dining atmosphere until around 9 before morphing into an up-tempo party. A favorite hang of locals and tourists alike, the restaurant hosts DJs every night of the week and caters to a wide array of guests. No matter the hour, GM Rob’s emphasis on service – checking on tables and engaging with guests, walking them through the menu, and making them feel special with each reservation – is what sets JING apart from other Las Vegas establishments. “People are willing to drive across town for the JING experience. We have lots of friends in the industry who come hang out and point others our way. We’re very grateful for that.” Whether you’re looking for family-friendly dining or a poppin’ party, JING Las Vegas’ versatility and quality know no bounds.

CATHERINE TRIFILETTI

BRINGS ITALIAN SOPHISTICATION TO UNIFORM THE WORLD’S MOST DESIRABLE RESORTS — By Dani Reeves

There is a new energy when you walk into casinos lately; the

type of energy you know that you’ll have a great night. Everyone around you is ravishing. Not only is everyone you’re with dressed impeccably, but the staff too. From valet to the cocktail servers as you walk to the restaurant. People everywhere notice the difference. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the hostess greets you with style and sophistication. At this point, it’s unsurprising when the server comes embellished without missing any detail. And then it hits you, the tailoring, the fabrication, the style must be Catherine Trifiletti. The Italian luxury uniform designer has been taking over the Las Vegas Strip. “I believe Vegas resort employees should be the most fashion-forward in the world,” she says. With over 39 years of experience in design, her signature couture style can be found throughout 5-star hotels, day clubs, and even theme parks. Trifiletti started her career as a fashion illustrator, where she worked for some of the best design houses in Philadelphia and New York City. When she was teaching as an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University, she discovered her calling in uniforms. “I was asked to design the Pennsylvania State Police formal shirt. My design included spandex; I was the first to use spandex in their uniforms! Can you believe police uniforms didn’t have mobility in their garment before?” After years of working with luxury brands worldwide, Trifiletti started her own label and became known as the only International uniform stylist in the United States.

“If they say it can’t be done, I’ll figure out how it can. We are very innovative and head of the curve, and I think that has been our strength over the years,” she says. Moving to Las Vegas changed the game for Trifiletti. “I love luxury and glamour. I think I’m in the right place here in Vegas, “ she says confidently. Because of her strong background in style and fashion, Trifiletti’s eye for divine taste begins when she walks inside a property. “The minute I step inside any resort, restaurant, day or night club, I start thinking about creating a common thread throughout the entire space. A good designer must listen and understand their needs and create a cohesive collection that works with their employees, lasts a long time, and looks great after three years,” Trifiletti states. Trifiletti is not only a powerhouse in uniform design but is also committed to helping women achieve their goals through fashion. A woman-owned business and a mother of three daughters, Trifiletti works closely with multiple non-profits to bring awareness in hopes of equality in the workplace. Hosting the first Luxury Hospitality Runway Show in Dubai last year was one of Trifiletti’s most fulfilling achievements as a designer. “The event was held on International Womens Day, which was extra special. It was a beautiful way to celebrate women from all around the world,” she says. Plans for the second annual runway show are at full speed and will be in Las Vegas. “I’ll be showcasing my newest collection, and you can expect all things glamour because women deserve to be fabulous, and there is no better place to celebrate that than in Las Vegas!” For more information on Catherine Trifiletti, visit www.catherinetrifilettiltd.com

A Vision For West Hollywood

Honor the Gift, in the heart of West Hollywood was designed in

collaboration with Russell Westbrook and HOD. The organic yet industrial design influenced by the Inner City of LA, was executed by the design team reflecting Russell’s vision. The illusion of tile crumbling through the walls layered with floor to ceiling metal clothing racks brings a juxtaposition and high contrast to the space. The materials utilized are reminiscent of the strong community that has been built within the HTG brand.

84 | Deluxe Version Magazine

The mixture of organic textures help achieve a sense of variety and interest in the space. From concrete to hair on hide leather, the layering of materials work together to create a space that speaks to the unique story of the HTG brand. Throughout the conceptualization and execution, the team established a strong design that speaks to the integrity of the surrounding community.

LAS VEGAS

The Inspired Closet

FOR AN EMMY AWARD-WINNING ANCHOR: DENISE VALDEZ

If

you’ve ever wondered how 8 News Now’s Denise Valdez looks camera-perfect every evening on screen, it all starts with a custom-built, walk-in closet designed by Inspired Closets Las Vegas.

Denise worked with Inspired Closets to create the perfect custom space to remove the unnecessary stress of getting ready for the day – because there’s plenty of stress in the newsroom.

Denise aspired to be a journalist since high school. She earned her degree at Pepperdine University and was a tour guide at Universal Studios where she would get on the microphone and give a threehour tour to hundreds of people. It was in this role she learned how to ad lib and think on her feet – something that would come in handy during her extensive broadcast career in Las Vegas.

A closet is a personal, intimate, and essential part of daily life for anyone – but especially someone who is on screen every day.

Calling Las Vegas home for 17 years, Denise has covered countless memorable moments, watched as professional sports teams have made their way to the Strip, won four Emmys, and has been a face of local television for over a decade.

“I’m a storyteller. I sort of tell a story through my wardrobe. I want everything to look classic and well-structured. I want it to look colorful when it needs to be, somber on other days – and that’s sort of the story of the closet.” Inspired Closets believes in the transformative power of custom organization and came up with some unique concepts to help Denise maneuver through the getting-ready process with ease. “I wanted a lot of clarity, ease, and organization,” Denise explained that there’s a recipe for working as an anchor. Knowing that color looks good on television, she tries to mix it up with what she wears every day. Everything has a place and the closet makes it fun to get ready every day. The design of the luxury build was developed in partnership with Custom Closets to create something functional and beautiful that can be enjoyed forever. They embraced the no-window closet for a darker, moodier feeling of elegance. Beautiful wallpaper and fixtures, custom shoe shelving, and sleek (and hidden) accessory organization paired with lighting fixtures from Valdez’s previous home create a oneof-a-kind space.

Her clothes are organized by color and style so it’s easy to get dressed before heading to the station. Denise’s best-kept secret is that she writes down every outfit she has worn for the entire year. What started as turning around hangers to remember what she wore that week evolved into a detailed log of her on-air wardrobe to help with the nature of the business. Sharing Denise’s keen eye for details, Inspire Closets counted all of her shoes (and her husband’s) to make sure there was enough space and shelving. They also measured the length of her dresses for bar placement to ensure all of her dresses would fit and the longer clothing would have plenty of space. Other unique elements include a custom mirror that opens for storage and a place for folding items. “After doing the closet, it just felt like home. It’s home base,” Denise said. “I come in, I get ready, don’t have to think too much about it, and then I’m ready to walk out the door and start my day. It makes my life easier, simpler, and more organized.” So how does she choose what to buy and keep in this stunning closet? Denise works on finding things that are timeless. “When I’m purchasing clothes, you won’t see a lot of high-end fashion. Quantity is key for this closet.” She gravitates toward Black Halo, Trina Turk, Eliza J, and Donna Morgan as the foundation of her television wardrobe. She also considers how a neckline may interfere with a microphone. There are some fun weekend picks hanging up, but this closet is a true work wardrobe. “You want to look contemporary, but classic. I never want people to look at what I’m wearing. I want them to listen to what I’m saying.” As she continues remodeling other parts of her 1973 home, she wants to stay true to the house without sacrificing its history, but also make it modern and livable. Denise loves her job, her city, and the fact that she never has the same day twice. When she isn’t on-air, Denise serves on the Board of Nevada SPCA to help save the lives of vulnerable pets in the Las Vegas area.

GLASS VEGAS IS SHAPING THE DESIGN FUTURE OF

Custom

Almost a year ago, Deluxe Version Magazine met the CEO and founder of Glass Vegas, Nicole Mann. At that time, she had just launched her company. In her previous interview with us, Nicole shared that her eagerness to own her own business stemmed from witnessing firsthand how poorly employees were treated and the customer service she thought clients deserved. Working in this male-dominated industry since she was 19, Nicole believed she could provide her employees with a reliable, professional, and understanding work environment. Although she technically owned Glass Vegas last year, Nicole was in a partnership that controlled a lot of her direction, and ironically Glass Vegas was facing the same issues on why she wanted to start her own company in the first place.

With faith and the desire to fulfill her promise, Nicole took control of her company and set out to do what she knew was possible. In true fashion, Nicole credits her employees for helping them become the leaders in Las Vegas for glass. “We have all been building this puzzle together, and if one is missing, then we are not whole,” she says about her team.

“This is a company that gives you great opportunities.” Kim, Glass Vegas’ office administrator, says. “Nicole really cares about all of us; we are more than just employees. It feels like family.” Jessica, Glass Vegas’ office manager, who has been with the company from the beginning, says, “Coming from a previous male-owned glass company, there were always more obstacles somehow because they never thought we could do it right. Here, we problem-solve together; Nicole will take the time to teach us and has more patience with everyone on her team, which makes me feel like I’m in a safe work environment.”

90 | Deluxe Version Magazine

Nicole’s vision of providing a thriving workplace has been paying off significantly, and she has gained an impressive list of accomplishments in the past year. She was one of our honorees for the Top Twenty Entruperuers Of The Year; her company became part of NAWIC, the National Association of Women In Construction, she was on the cover of US Glass Magazine for Women in Glass, and her most recent achievement was being named Best Glass Company by the infamous Best Of Las Vegas Awards.

“I didn’t build this for me; I built this for us. My employees are my day one, and now that I look back, I’m really humbled. Jessica and I went from riding around and taking calls on my cell phone in my Jeep to now building a beautiful office; I have a showroom for my clients, a warehouse, and three vans on the road with my logo! Glass Vegas is currently working on its largest commercial project as of yet, and homes inside The Summit, Ascaya, and McDonald Highlands communities continue to fill Nicole’s schedule. Always looking for a challenge, Nicole looks forward to serving her community in 2023.

AUSTIN SHERWOOD EMPOWERS VALUABLE BRINGS VALUABLE TEAM CONNECTIONS IN CONNECTION TO LUXURY LUXURY REAL ESTATE REAL ESTATE

A Las Vegas native with a passion for connecting with others, Austin Sherwood quickly became a top-selling luxury real estate agent with his eyes set on the next big home.

Austin’s professional journey began when he started pursuing a Business Development and HR path. Anxious to get on his feet and inspired by so many saying, “You would be great in real estate,” he got his real estate license at the young age of 20. With family working in the industry, Austin had seen the ups and downs of how volatile the market could be, but decided to embark on a real estate journey for himself. At age 21, he began working with Ivan Sher and IS Luxury. While working in administration, his potential was quickly recognized. About four years into his career, he became Director of Sales and helped oversee business development, expansion, onboarding and sales training. You name it, he helped with it. This role helped him become well-versed in every position in real estate – an advantage that many agents don’t typically gain. He recently embarked on his solo agent journey and has become one of the top producing agents in his brokerage.

“When you really truly understand how a team functions and how everyone plays into each other’s success, you can see how everything is connected,” Austin says. “I really understand the depth of each segment of what real estate looks like and I can attest to it because I’ve personally done it.” The value proposition of what Austin brings to the table is not just extensive knowledge and charisma. Since working with Ivan, Austin has helped take the company from over $200 million in annual sales to over $700 million.

When asked what makes a great real agent, Austin says, “An agent who really has your best interest.” Calling out the cliche, Austin emphasized that clients often feel pressured by agents – and this is something he never wants to do. It’s essential to educate clients, be genuine and trustworthy, have product knowledge and stay up-to-date with market trends. Austin prides himself on having a genuine interest in every client’s needs. His understanding of negotiation, meaningful relationships and the industry he’s grown up in has ultimately led to some of his biggest deals and overall success. He continues to foster relationships with highly influential people in the city from professional sports athletes to casino executives. “It doesn’t matter who you are. Treat everyone with the same level of success. I’m always appreciative of everything and that’s genuine interest.” Advice for those just getting in real estate? Austin says to ask yourself, “Does being able to help people with one of the biggest purchases or sales they’ll make in their life genuinely motivate you? Then do real estate.” Although everything you see on “Selling Sunset,” “Buying Beverly Hills” and other Netflix series is fabulous and wonderful, he reminds others to not make that the focal point of why they want to be in real estate. “What I’ve learned from some of the top people in the industry is the second you start

to get complacent or you start expecting results and you’re not driving results, it will reflect in your business.” Pro tip for any industry: Stick to a routine and follow time blocking for client meetings, emails, appointments and follow-ups. Even when constantly selling high-ticket homes (not to mention his highest-selling at $23.9 million), there’s no time to rest. He confidently says, “There’s nothing else I can see myself doing.” When he’s not selling multi-million dollar luxury homes, Austin serves as the Las Vegas Fashion Council Membership Chair to help grow their organization. The nonprofit provides advice and assistance to aspiring fashion designers, students and those in the industry. “I’ve always loved mentoring and coaching and that was a big part of my role with Ivan Scher group,” He says. “I’m passionate about it because I love seeing other people succeed and work their way up. I started at ground level as a transaction coordinator and worked myself up to become one of the top agents on one of the top teams in Nevada,” he says. “It’s a really surreal feeling to me still.” Austin continues to grow and hopes to scale a larger team within his brokerage. There’s always more to learn and always more records to break.

DYNAMIC STEM CELL THERAPY When you walk into the offices of Dynamic Stem Cell

Therapy, you will be transported to a soothing, Zen-like space. As Co-Founder and CEO Blake Youmans likes to say, patients will receive VIP treatment across the board. For those unfamiliar with this type of regenerative medicine, Dynamic Stem Cell Therapy utilizes stem cells to initiate healing of the body- from within.

“Stem Cells are the building blocks of the human body. They act as a booster of healthy cells for the body to heal itself,” says Youmans. Cellular treatments have been becoming increasingly popular in the past two decades. Regenerative medicine continues to emerge on the forefront of cellular treatment-driven medicine. While there are multiple modalities, cell therapy remains the most popular. So how does it work? Stem Cell Therapy is by definition a form of regenerative medicine designed to repair damaged cells within the body by reducing inflammation. In the instance of Platelet rich plasma therapy, blood platelets help with clotting and tissue regeneration, so through injection of platelet-rich plasma, healing occurs rapidly. When injected at an injury site, platelets release their growth factors, cause a local irritation and then stimulate the migration of new reparative stem cells from our own body. This influx of stem cells to that area promotes healing. “In terms of effectiveness, we have an 86% success rate in patients receiving therapies with us,” says Youmans. “We see patients feeling 75%-100% better in as little as three months” he continues. As part of the treatment aftercare protocol, Youmans personally does periodic follow-up calls with patients. One upside to Stem Cell Therapy is the cost—it offers an alternative to traditional injury surgery, potentially costing in the hundreds of thousands. Another upside is the timesaving aspect- in the instance of PRP therapy, they typically take less than 30 minutes, with minimal discomfort. PRP and stem cell therapy are typically a one-and-done procedure lasting 1 year to 10 years respectively. Who is a candidate? There are many candidates for Stem Cell Therapy. Patients are seen for everything from Arthritis, Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, knee pain, shoulder pain, to Achilles tendon injuries. “Changing lives is a passion of mine, and I am so happy that our products and processes are bringing hope and life for all involved in the healing process,” Youmans contends. Las Vegas-based Dynamic Stem Cell Therapy offers the chance to relieve a multitude of pain-based maladies via regenerative stem cell therapy.

TRICIA EVANS REIMAGINES THE BEAUTY IN WAXING

Founder and Co-Owner, Tricia Evans, Shares Her Unique Story Behind the Success of Pretty Kitty Waxing Boutique

As a woman, we know the fear and anxiety surrounding the words, “Brazilian wax”. In fact, anything that involves any type of body waxing can make most of us cringe. Pretty Kitty founder and co-owner, Tricia Evans, knows this all too well. Her successful business, The Pretty Kitty, specializes in body waxing so you can rest assured that you’re in the hands of a trained professional. A US Navy Veteran, Evans became a Licensed Aesthetician in the year 2000. She gained the skills, and experience after working at her last job at a day spa where clients came in specifically for a Brazilian wax. She knew the process, understood clients’ concerns and needs, and knew where improvements can be made. In 2006, after venting to her business partner about a “bad day” at work, he suggested starting their own business together. An idea that she recalls as being a “God-given inspiration”. Not wanting to open a day spa, Evans wanted to specialize in waxing only. She wanted to come up with a catchy name that would get people’s attention. After brainstorming different names with her business partner, “The Pretty Kitty”, stood out the most.

“It was a moment in my life where everything made sense about what I was supposed to be doing. I never had that before so when that idea happened, it was like an ‘aha’ moment!” Their first location, a 400 sq ft. boutique in Pacific Beach (San Diego) opened for business that same year. Her business partner covered the front desk while Evans did the aesthetician part. With Pretty Kitty focusing on waxing, time efficiency, and following a strict safety protocol, it didn’t take long to build new and repeat clientele. Two years later, a second location in Chula Vista on 3rd Avenue was opened. “Pretty Kitty specializes in waxing. We never reuse our wax sticks. This was back at a time when people were doing unsanitary practices, not using gloves and reusing sticks.”, Evans explains. Adding, “We were doing Brazilians in 10-15 mins which really set us apart.” Their Southern California locations quickly gained popularity with Las Vegas locals who would visit them while on vacation. In 2009, after being convinced by their clients, they opened their first Henderson, Nevada location. A year later, a Summerlin location was opened and 3 other locations in Orange County soon followed. Continuing the expansion to include 3 locations in the Inland Empire in CA, and currently 5 total stores in Las Vegas She now boasts an additional 14 locations all throughout Texas, as a result of concept licensing for Pretty Kitty that launched 2014 (a similar but different approach to franchising.) Maintaining an impressive 4.5-star rating on Yelp across multiple locations, it’s no wonder why Pretty Kitty remains on top of the industry. After 17 years in business, they continue to be a popular waxing destination for women and men.

LUXURY DELIVERED TO YOUR DOORSTEP Eighteen years ago, when Dennis Garcia began his first white glove job at the

Bellagio, he never imagined the journey it would take him on. Garcia’s career started in room service as a bus person, and he would eventually transfer to Aria Resort and Casino as a day-one employee. He worked his way up to Lead Butler, the youngest in the city at that time, and spent 12 years at the resort. Garcia’s clientele included celebrity musicians, actors, journalists, and international royalty in the exclusive private villas. Once the pandemic caused Las Vegas to take a pause, the seasoned butler knew he had to start a venture of his own. That is when GiftLux was born. The Los Angeles native always enjoyed putting together luxurious welcome baskets in the villas at Aria before his guests would arrive. Garcia saw firsthand how much joy they brought his clients, and he wanted to continue outside the villa and straight to the recipient’s doorstep. GiftLux boasts a wide array of themed baskets, all fully customizable and delivered personally by Garcia, who is dressed to impress with signature white gloves and a tuxedo.

“It is more than a gift, it is an experience and a memory.”

With each gift delivery, recipients are given a detailed description of the luxury contents and acknowledgment of the sender. You can also request a video and photo to be taken of the delivery to commemorate the moment. GiftLux works with several luxury brands to cultivate a presentation that will leave recipients in awe. Dom Perignon, Don Julio, Clase Azul, and Louis XIII, to name a few. Other items include custom glassware, coasters, and cigars; some even include Vegas Golden Knights and Las Vegas Raiders Tickets for that particular sports fan. No occasion is too big or too small for Garcia and his team. Birthdays, anniversaries, closing on a new home, promotions, weddings, and welcoming a new baby are the most popular baskets they create. Ordering is as simple as heading to their Instagram page, @giftluxcompany, and sending a direct message. Garcia and his team will go over your gift needs with you and create a basket perfect for your recipient and the occasion, keeping you involved in the process from idea to doorstep delivery. “I have always felt that the hospitality industry can be a beautiful art when done gracefully,” he says. Garcia is thrilled to share his art as the first white glove gift delivery service in Las Vegas and, soon, other major cities across the US.

ATTORNEY SPOTLIGHT:

BRITTANY YOUNG OF KAPLAN YOUNG LAW FIRM — By Sarah Jenkins

Whether it’s a personal injury case, a worker’s compensation claim, or a business litigation lawsuit, Las Vegas-based Attorney Brittany Young of the law firm Kaplan Young will ensure you are in the best of hands. Young brings years of experience, expertise and familiarity with the Las Vegas area- having attended UNLV’s Boyd Law School prior to clerking for a prominent judge. After working as an Associate attorney at one of the top personal injury firms in Las Vegas for nearly six years, Young then transitioned to her current venture, where she is a partner. Young was most recently recognized by this very publication for her career excellence in her field as a 2022 “Women Of Wonder” recipient from Deluxe Version Magazine. This recognition stems from her robust experience working in the legal field for nearly a decade now. Young says her decision to pursue Law as a career path was hardly a foregone conclusion. Rather, it was one that she came to after having considered a completely different career. Just prior to pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health at UNLV, she had the opportunity to work for Boston Scientific, working with spinal cord simulators for pain patients. Later working as a Representative, she credits witnessing pain patients and recognizing a common need for a knowledgeable, skilled attorney to serve as a victim advocate. She was then motivated to pursue an entirely different career path than Public Health, and applied to Law School. Young says an auto accident in May of 2022 gave her further insight as to what her own clients have experienced- from the agony to the confusion to the daunting task of essentially “picking up the pieces” where one’s sense of normalcy went off the rails. What is the most gratifying part of her job? “Helping people get the care and compensation they deserve and relieving the stress they have after going through something traumatic like this,” she says.

She cites workers compensation cases as being particularly gratifying because she gets to, “help injured workers get healthy and back to providing for their families. It is rewarding to be the one that they rely on and turn to, [my partner] and I come from a bigger firm mentality, so we wanted to create a more boutique-style law firm with personalized and individualized attention. We pride ourselves on being super accessible and available for all our clients.” At the end of the day, she stresses, clients are treated as family the second they pick up the phone or walk through the doors of Kaplan Young. “From a consumer standpoint, it can be frustrating when you don’t feel like you matter,” she says. “Clients should feel cared for, never feel like they are in the dark about their case. That is very important to us”.

Young credits in part her innate drive and accomplishments to her career as a Division One athlete at Coastal Carolina University where she received a softball scholarship. That drive, commitment, and hard work in highpressure situations translates to her ability to perform under stress, go the extra mile for her clients, and most importantly, she says, constantly improve. “You can learn through books in Law School, but when you are out there practicing and getting that experience, you’re forced to ask yourself, ‘how can I do this even better? How can I make more of a difference?’” For more information, you can go to kaplanyoung.com IG: @kaplanyoung702 or personally follow Brittany at @ brittany_young702

Business

LAS VEGAS’ APEX ENTREPRENEUR, JOHNNY “THE SHARK” RICHARDSON, IS ON THE HUNT On top of owning his own title company and wholesale company,

The Shark is CEO of The Richardson Group, Las Vegas’ premier real estate brokerage. Specializing in Turnberry Towers and other luxury listings over one million dollars, he has been rated in the top 1 percent of all Las Vegas real estate agents since 2018. “I’m a resident of Turnberry Towers and I know the buildings inside and out. For those interested in buying or selling Turnberry units, I’m the guy.” Richardson grew up in the country town of Pittsgrove, NJ. He moved to Las Vegas in 2012. After managing a valet staff for night clubs for several years, he would go on to manage a car company, an insurance company, and a timeshare company - a journey which would ultimately inspire him to get into real estate.

“My time in those environments taught me so much about customer care and sales. It really helped prepare me for a career in real estate.” Business is booming. Richardson hopes to have 50 real estate agents working in his office by the end of Q2. By the end of 2023 his goal is to bring in agents nationwide and expand his operation to 1000+ agents. These lofty goals are reachable due to Richardson’s affinity for coaching and mentoring budding agents. The Richardson Group’s training model educates students on everything from databases, listing points, generating referrals, onboarding leads, and more. “Developing agents is a true passion of mine. I teach people how to start producing within 30 days and how to build a lasting, successful career.” With so much on his plate, The Shark still manages to find time to help others in need. He is actively involved with Project Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization which aids in the rescue of human trafficking and sex trafficking victims, with a special focus on children, and a wider goal of eliminating sex trafficking world-wide. But if you ask him, he’ll tell you his number one favorite hobby is… Work! “Work is my hobby. I love what I do. I live and die by real estate.”

A MODERN TAKE ON THE LAKE:

BLUE HERON LEADS THE DESIGN EVOLUTION OF LAKE LAS VEGAS WITH FIVE EXCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES A new modern era for Lake Las Vegas is underway, epitomized in five boundary-pushing

boutique communities from Blue Heron, the acclaimed design-led development firm led by fourthgeneration Las Vegas native Tyler Jones. Blue Heron, which first garnered national headlines in 2009, with the first of three prestigious New American Home awards from the National Association of Homebuilders, has continued to elevate residential architecture and construction to new heights, forging a new identity for the region as a leading destination for pioneering home design. Blue Heron has been in business for over 18 years, and the firm’s community division, Blue Heron Nexus, makes Blue Heron’s signature design philosophy available at Lake Las Vegas in five intimate residential enclaves. Together, these new communities offer 246 homesites featuring biophilic elements and seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces that instill an extraordinary sense of well-being. Designed to accentuate the flow of life and promote connection, Blue Heron Nexus communities capture the essence of contemporary living at Lake Las Vegas. “Featuring the DNA of our custom homes, Blue Heron Nexus communities offer an opportunity to enjoy an unparalleled lifestyle and the culmination of everything that Blue Heron is known for – architecturally progressive homes that blend aesthetics with warmth and functionality,” said Tyler Jones, CEO and Founder of Blue Heron. “Blue Heron Nexus has an incredible trajectory at Lake Las Vegas, and we’ve been thrilled with the response. It’s been an honor to partner with Raintree Investment Corp. on the design evolution of the community.”

“No other builder has been able to replicate Blue Heron’s designs, quality or level of detail,” said Chris Beucler, President, Blue Heron Nexus. “At Lake Las Vegas, our Nexus communities interpret Blue Heron’s unique blueprint for each setting, from the inviting waterfront to private mountainside retreats. We also offer an extraordinary degree of personalization in each home. With our advanced modeling and envisioning technology, we invite buyers to get engaged in the design process and bring their ideal Lake Las Vegas home to life.” 120 | Deluxe Version Magazine

This winter season marks the debut of the two newest Blue Heron Blue Heron Nexus communities: Velaris and Arvada – the only two communities located at Lake Las Vegas’ prestigious new address, the double-gated 60-acre Island. Velaris and Arvada offer two distinct interpretations of waterfront living in this idyllic island-inthe-desert setting, yet they share the same design ethos: progressive, contemporary floorplans, enabling a seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle that takes full advantage of cinematic lake, mountain and desert views. Velaris features 41 homesites, most of which have views of the serene inland waterway and mountains just beyond. Homes range from 2,870 to 4,688 square feet. Pricing starts from mid-$1 million. All of Arvada’s 37 homesites are waterfront. They range from 4,872 to 7,749 square feet and accommodate private docks for recreation. Arvada homes start from $2.5 million. A short distance from the Island is Strata, Blue Heron Nexus’ most private community at Lake Las Vegas. Tucked into a mountainside, this gated retreat-within-a-retreat offers 19 homesites strategically positioned to maximize panoramic views of the lake. Each of Strata’s three floor plans includes three elevations and ranges from 2,870 to 4,688 square feet. Homes feature spacious rear yards that allow room for a swimming pool. A community defined by serene privacy and breathtaking vistas, Strata is priced beginning at $1.3 million. For those seeking an active lifestyle steps from the social heart of Lake Las Vegas, Blue Heron Nexus offers Shoreline, a gated community of 83 single-family homes with a modern, cosmopolitan spirit. Reminiscent of storied Balboa Island in Southern California, this waterfront community is the first of its kind in southern Nevada. Two- and three-story homes, many facing the lake, are available in three floor plans ranging from 2,750 to 3,659 square feet. Designed to promote connection to the nearby Village at Lake Las Vegas, Shoreline homes capture the essence of resort living in the desert. Phase 1 and 2 of Shoreline have sold out, and Phase 3 is now available for reservation. Pricing begins at $964,990. Located on Lake Las Vegas’ desirable North Shore, Caliza is a community of 27 homesites perched on an elevated bluff that cascades towards the water. Three signature Blue Heron designs maximize the site’s expansive lake views, allowing for an exceptional standard of indoor-outdoor living. Named after the bright, fossil-rich limestone found at Lake Las Vegas, Caliza redefines lakefront living with a contemporary environment that is fresh, airy, and architecturally unique. Only a few homesites remain at Caliza. Pricing begins at $2.1 million. For more information about Blue Heron Nexus homes at Lake Las Vegas, visit blueheron.com or call 702-531-3000.
