DWIC History and Mission
The Dixon Women’s Improvement Club was established in 1899. The founders were women from families that had settled in the Dixon area following the Gold Rush of 1849 and who were interested in improving the town of Dixon. The Club is a non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) designated organization. The purpose of the Club is to promote the beautification and improvement of Dixon through distribution of college scholarships and community grants, community projects, presentations, field trips, community literacy and garden projects.
The Dixon Women’s Improvement Club meets from September through May, on the third Wednesday of the month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Fellowship Hall of the Dixon Methodist Church. Guests are welcome.
The Dixon Women’s Improvement Club scholarships, grants and projects are supported by the Club’s activities, membership dues, grant funding, and donations. Tax deductible donations may be made in cash or by check, in person or by mail. The Club’s mailing address is: Dixon Women’s Improvement Club; Attention: Treasurer; P.O. Box 25; Dixon, CA 95620. Make donation checks payable to the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club.
