A palavra luxo remete muitas vezes para caracterizar o excesso e o desperdício e é frequentemente associada a palavras como ‘alta costura’, ‘extravagância’, ‘indulgência’ e ‘alta vida’. Enquanto que quando pensamos em sustentabilidade, pensamos em palavras como ‘meio ambiente’, ‘longo prazo’, ‘economia’ ou mesmo ‘mudança climática’.

Então, como é que duas palavras tão diferentes se juntam e fazem sentido dessa forma?

A verdade é que os produtos sustentáveis partilham das mesmas qualidades “essenciais” dos bens de luxo; exigem criatividade e design extraordinários, precisam ser feitos de materiais excepcionais, de boa qualidade e dão importância à durabilidade no conceito de menos, mas melhor. E os verdadeiros bens de luxo já têm a sustentabilidade implícita, uma vez que não saem de moda e são produtos para a vida toda.

Não se trata de um produto amigo do ambiente que procura uma imagem premium, mas sim de um produto de luxo com valores sustentáveis. É outra opção para salvar o planeta, já que estamos a canalizar o nosso poder de compra para onde podemos causar o menor dano comprando produtos de luxo sustentáveis. Acredite, o luxo sustentável é o futuro.

As gerações mais jovens e ricas estão de fato mais conscientes do impacto ambiental e social de suas decisões de compra e são mais propensas a comprar de uma marca que ressoa com os seus próprios valores pessoais. As marcas sofisticadas que desejam manter o seu status no mercado de luxo precisam evoluir para acompanhar essa tendência crescente de luxo ético e sustentável.

Um estudo da Nielsen mostrou mesmo que 73% dos Millenial entrevistados estão dispostos a gastar mais em um produto se ele vier de uma marca sustentável ou socialmente consciente.

Como é que as marcas de luxo se podem reposicionar para abraçar essa mudança e incorporar luxo sustentável na sua narrativa? A chave é ser autêntico. As marcas precisam implementar genuinamente modelos ecológicos e de sustentabilidade nas suas práticas desde o início, antes de começar a criar um hype em redor disso.

Afinal, o luxo sustentável tem tudo a ver com a satisfação das necessidades individuais, tomando decisões de consumo mais inteligentes e protegendo o meio ambiente.

It is not an eco-friendly product seeking a premium image but instead, it is a luxury product with sustainable values. It is another option to saving the planet since we would be channeling our purchasing power to where we might do the least harm — by buying sustainable luxury goods. Believe, sustainable luxury is the future.

The younger affluent generations are indeed more conscious of the environmental and social impact of their purchase decisions and are more likely to buy from a brand that resonates with their own personal values. High-end brands that want to retain their status in the luxury market need to evolve to keep up with this growing trend towards ethical and sustainable luxury.

We live in a society that prioritizes and admires “strong people. By this we mean that reason should override feelings, and that feelings should somehow be hidden or camouflaged. Many people still raise their children, especially boys, to be strong and brave, so as not to appear weak to others.

From an early age, boys learn from their parents that they should not express vulnerability or even affection. Early on, boys learn to suppress those natural emotional responses like crying or even some facial expressions of sadness or fear. This type of behavior repeated over several years of growth and personality development eventually leads to adults who are not very aware of their own emotions. These adults don’t know, for example, that feeling frustration because they don’t have their spouse’s attention when they get home after a demanding day is something they have “the right” to feel and that it is also something natural. The social stigma does not accept that they feel needy.

Many men choose to repress their emotions. Among the emotions most often repressed or “forbidden” are, for example: sadness, fear, jealousy, envy, guilt, shame, longing, need, resentment, or even love.

These emotions can then give way to more “acceptable” emotions, such as anger, hatred, elation, pride, or joy. The problem here arises when the original emotion is replaced and repressed by another emotion, due to social stigma.

This camouflage can cause increased emotional tension in men, and

emotional disorders such as Depression and Anxiety can arise. There are several studies that point to the fact that women more easily seek psychological support than men. And what is certain is that this inability or reluctance to seek help, motivated by social stigma, can greatly harm men’s own physical and mental health. It is a misconception that women suffer more from psychological illnesses based on help-seeking. Men often suffer in silence.

The sooner a man gets rid of this stigma, the more easily he can free himself from this tension. This implies an openness to self-knowledge, that is, a readiness to explore one’s own vulnerabilities and weaknesses. It becomes more difficult to achieve life’s goals without fully accepting who we are, without accepting and knowing our mistakes, our insecurities, and our doubts.

The bravest people are those who show themselves imperfect to the world. The path to happiness and emotional balance in man requires him to assume his vulnerabilities. Facing risks, having the courage to be imperfect, and making mistakes requires the emotional exposure necessary for the process of growth and development. In return, you will achieve your greatest accomplishments!

NÃO REPRIMA AS SUAS EMOÇÕES Vivemos numa sociedade que prioriza e admira “pessoas fortes”. Querendo com isso dizer que a razão deve sobrepor-se aos sentimentos, e que os sentimentos devem ser de certa forma escondidos ou camuflados.

Muitas pessoas ainda educam os filhos, principalmente os meninos, no sentido de que devem ser fortes e corajosos, para não parecerem fracos perante os demais.

Desde cedo, aprendem com os seus pais que não devem expressar vulnerabilidade ou até carinho. Desde cedo, os meninos aprendem a suprimir essas respostas emocionais naturais como chorar ou mesmo algumas expressões faciais de tristeza ou medo. Esta aprendizagem repetida ao longo dos vários anos de crescimento e desenvolvimento da personalidade acaba por dar lugar a adultos completamente inconscientes das suas próprias emoções. Estes adultos já não sabem, por exemplo, que ficar frustrado por não ter a atenção da sua esposa quando chegam a casa após um dia exigente é algo que têm “o direito” de sentir e que é algo natural.

O estigma social não aceita que eles se sintam carentes.

Muitos homens optam por reprimir as suas emoções.

Entre as emoções mais frequentemente reprimidas ou “proibidas” teremos, por exemplo: a tristeza, o medo, o ciúme, a inveja, o luto, a culpa, a vergonha, a saudade, a carência, o ressentimento ou até o amor. Estas emoções poderão dar então lugar a emoções mais “aceitáveis” como, por exemplo: a raiva, o ódio, a euforia, o orgulho ou a alegria. O problema aqui surge quando a emoção original é substituída e reprimida por outra emoção devido ao estigma social.

Esta camuflagem pode provocar uma tensão emocional acrescida no homem, podendo verificar-se o surgimento de perturbações emocionais tais como a Depressão e a Ansiedade. Existem diversos estudos que apontam para o facto de as mulheres procurarem mais facilmente apoio psicológico do que os homens. Esta incapacidade ou falta de vontade em procurar ajuda, impulsionadas pelo estigma social, podem prejudicar a própria saúde física e mental dos homens. É um equívoco considerar que as mulheres sofrem mais de doenças psicológicas baseando-se na procura da ajuda. Muitas vezes os homens sofrem em silêncio…

Quanto mais depressa o homem se desfizer deste estigma, mais facilmente ele se libertará dessa tensão. Isto implica uma abertura para o autoconhecimento, isto é, disponibilidade para explorar as próprias vulnerabilidades e fragilidades. Torna-se mais difícil atingir os objetivos de vida sem aceitarmos plenamente quem somos, sem aceitarmos e conhecermos os nossos erros, as nossas inseguranças e as nossas dúvidas.

As pessoas mais corajosas são aquelas que se mostram imperfeitas para o mundo. O caminho para a felicidade e para o equilíbrio emocional no homem exige que ele assuma as suas vulnerabilidades. Encarar riscos, ter coragem de ser imperfeito e errar exigem uma exposição emocional necessária ao processo de crescimento e desenvolvimento.

Há uma série de coisas realmente fantásticas para ver e fazer quando se visita os Açores. A observação de baleias é uma das coisas mais excitantes e populares a fazer quando se visita os Açores. Também pode visitar as vinhas e adegas e uma plantação de chá. Portugal é o único país produtor de chá na Europa e as suas plantações podem ser encontradas na ilha de São Miguel.

A Plantação de Chá da Gorreana é a mais antiga da Europa e produz chás preto, chá verde, e chá pekoe laranja desde 1883. O chá é também produzido no vizinho Porto Formoso. É possível fazer uma visita a pé pelos campos de chá. Esta é uma tarde diferente e relaxante, que proporciona uma visão interessante e inesperada da economia tradicional dos Açores.

Mas não pode deixar os Açores sem experimentar as piscinas termais.

A ilha de São Miguel é abençoada com uma riqueza de águas e piscinas termais. Estas piscinas são criadas pelo calor gerado a partir dos três complexos vulcânicos ativos da ilha - Furnas, Fogo e Sete Cidades.

Para uma melhor experiência, tente visitar uma das piscinas num dia frio ou sombrio. Não há nada melhor do que entrar nas águas quentes térmicas quando a temperatura do ar é bastante mais baixa.

Situada nas Furnas está a Poça da Dona Beija. É composta por cinco piscinas termais e é uma experiência verdadeiramente única e maravilhosa. Entre a arquitetura de pedra e a envolvente florestal, um mergulho na água é o certo para acalmar a sua alma.

Na encosta norte da Serra do Fogo, encontra-se ainda a Caldeira Velha.

Este parque natural é mais como um paraíso tropical. Com uma cascata, duas piscinas termais e uma linda rocha manchada de ferro, onde ficará feliz por ter decidido fazer-lhe uma visita.

Azorean gastronomy is so rich and diverse that to mention only one dish or only some products would not do it justice. So we can start with what we can get from the sea: a great variety of fresh fish and seafood. The weather conditions of the Azores favor the growth of green pastures that feed the animals, therefore, the archipelago offers excellent meat. The grass fed cattle is also responsible for the quality of the delicious azorean cheeses, such as the internationally renowned São Jorge cheese. The sweet and juicy pineapple of São Miguel, the melon of Santa Maria and Graciosa, the coffee of Fajã dos Vimes and the tea of São Miguel, which are unique in Europe, are the perfect ending for a perfect meal. The wine and vineyards, grown in lava stone fields, are also very important in the Azores. The Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a great example of this authenticity. We must mention some of the famous Azorean dishes: the “Cozido das Furnas”, “Alcatra da Terceira” (Beef stew), “Caldo de Peixe” (Fish Soup) and also the Espírito Santo soup (“Holy Spirit Soup”: bread and meat stock), which is the most common dish in the Azores and which varies from island to island.

There are a number of really great things to see and do when visiting the Azores. Whale watching is one of the most exciting and popular things to do when visiting the Azores. Whales and dolphins can be seen all year round and there is a whale-watching tour available from just about every port. The odds of seeing something in these waters is very high!

Some species are seasonal. In the springtime, you are likely to see sei, blue and fin whales. In the summer, sperm whales can be observed.

If scuba diving is on your Azores to-do list, you will want to time your trip according. While the islands may look similar to Hawaii or other tropical destinations, their actual location in the Atlantic means water temperatures are far too cold for portions of the year. The best time to scuba is between June and October.

You can also visit the vineyards and wineries, but you must visit a a tea plantation. Portugal is the only tea producing country in Europe and its plantations can be found on São Miguel island.

Gorreana Tea Plantation is the oldest tea plantation in Europe and has been producing black teas, green teas, and orange pekoe teas since 1883. Tea is also produced in neighboring Porto Formoso.

It is possible to take a walking tour through the tea fields. This is a different and relaxing sort of afternoon providing interesting and unexpected insights into the traditional economy of the Azores.

But you cannot leave the Azores without trying the thermal pools. The Island of São Miguel is blessed with a wealth of thermal springs and thermal pools. These thermal pools are created by the heat generated from the island’s three active volcano complexes - Furnas, Fogo, Sete Cidades.

For the best experience, try to visit one of the pools on a cool or dreary day. Nothing is better than slipping into the warm thermal waters when the air temperature is on the cool side of things.

Located in the town of Furnas is Poça da Dona Beija. It is made up of 5 thermal pools and is a truly unique and wonderful experience. Between the stone architecture and the forest-like surroundings, a dip in the water is sure to set your soul at ease.

On the north slope of Fogo Mountain is Caldeira Velha. This natural park is more like a tropical paradise. With a waterfall, two thermal pools, and gorgeous iron-stained rock, you’ll be glad you decided to pay a visit.

The Craveiral FarmTable by Alexandre Silva is much more than just a restaurant, this is a long-term project that aims to implement an authentic “from farm to table” concept, in which 70% of the ingredients come from the Craveiral Farmhouse’s garden and orchard and the remaining 30% from producers in the Odemira region.

There is no lack, though, of game and fresh fish caught by local fishermen, nor the wonder regional bread, typical tomato soup and famous medronho (traditional fruit brandy) to help to digest it all. From

tapas to Alentejo-style dishes, the menu promises generous and authentic food experiences, all comforting suggestions that challenge the palate and sharpen the desire to return.

The interior space designed by architect Tiago Silva Dias, marked by a giant fireplace surrounded by sofas that invite you to stop and enjoy the calm.

Organic pizzas full of local ingredients also emerge from an elegant portable wood-fired oven, the starting point for a partnership with the Vila Com Vida Association and the pizzeria In Bocca al Lupo whose aim is to create job opportunities at Craveiral for young people with autism, Asperger’s and Down syndrome.

A exposição inclui obras de membros conhecidos como Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, Martine Bedin, Michael Graves, Barbara Radice, Peter Shire, Nathalie Du Pasquier e Shiro Kuramata. O objetivo declarado do grupo passava por superar os ditames do funcionalismo, celebrar o banal e o quotidiano e quebrar os tabus do bom gosto. A sua filosofia de design foi igualmente influenciada pelo surgimento da sociedade da informação. Como a televisão e os computadores, os objetos dos Memphis foram feitos para comunicar com o espectador e contar a sua própria história, uma história única. The group’s first collection, presented at Milan’s Arc’74 gallery in September 1981, was an international sensation. Characterized by garish colours and wild patterns, the Memphis designs seemed to have walked straight off the pages of a comic book and gave rise to a completely new look in which popular culture, advertising aesthetics, and post-modernism merged in a crazy medley.

The exhibition »Memphis: 40 Years of Kitsch and Elegance« at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the group’s foundation through its creations, presenting furniture, lamps, bowls, drawings, sketches, and photographs that give insight into the world of Memphis. Exhibits include works by such well-known members as Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, Martine Bedin, Michael Graves, Barbara Radice, Peter Shire, Nathalie Du Pasquier, and Shiro Kuramata. The group’s declared aim was to overcome the dictates of functionalism, celebrate the banal and everyday, and break the taboos of good taste. Its design philosophy was also influenced by the emergence of the information society. Like television and computers, Memphis objects were meant to communicate with the viewer and tell their own unique story. The final breakthrough came in 1982, when fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld furnished his apartment in Monte Carlo with the latest Memphis pieces.

The group’s name already suggests a certain glamour: it was inspired by the Bob Dylan song »Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again«, which was played at the group’s first meeting in the winter of 1980/81. The initiative for forming the group and many of its ideas came from the established Italian architectand designer Ettore Sottsass. u arte tiva de formar o grupo e muitas das suas ideias vieram do consagrado arquiteto e designer italiano Ettore Sottsass. O arquiteto começou por experimentar o desenvolvimento de móveis na década de 1960, e a utilizar laminados plásticos coloridos em criações a que chamou de “totems”. A cadeira “Seggiolina da Pranzo” (“Lunch Chair”), que desenhou para o Studio Alchimia em 1978, também apresenta o laminado estampado que se tornaria uma marca registada dos Memphis. Os seus designs estão entre as obras mais importantes do grupo; o aparador “Beverly” que desenhou em 1981 estará também em exposição. Combina elementos estranhamente díspares, como uma peça cromada de aço tubular dobrado, uma lâmpada colorida e laminados com acabamento em madeira estampada ou pele de cobra numa composição soberba oscilando entre o kitsch e a elegância.

O candeeiro “Super”, desenhado por Martine Bedin em 1981, é outra obra icónica dos Memphis. O arco de lâmpadas dispostas em semicírculo parece familiar - como algo que alguém encontraria num parque de diversões ou num restaurante americano. colourful plastic laminates to creations which he called »totems«. The chair »Seggiolina da Pranzo« (»Lunch Chair«), which he designed for Studio Alchimia in 1978, also features the patterned laminate that was to become a Memphis trademark. His designs for large storage items are among the groups’s most important works; the »Beverly« sideboard he designed in 1981 will be on show in the exhibition. It combines strangely disparate elements such as a chromium-plated piece of bent tubular steel, a coloured light bulb, and figured wood or snakeskin finish laminates in a superb composition teetering between kitsch and elegance.

The lamp »Super«, designed by Martine Bedin in 1981, is another iconic Memphis work. Its arc of light bulbs arranged in a semicircle looks familiar – like something one would encounter on a fairground or in an American diner. Set on wheels and equipped with an electrical cable, however, it resembles a strange, luminescent pet or a child’s toy. Many Memphis designs were characterized by this playful approach to meanings and references to which the group owed much of its impact on post-modern design.

For a number of young designers, the Memphis group became a platform and springboard to launch their careers and achieve international acclaim. Matteo Thun and Michele De Lucchi, for example, continue to be active in international industrial design.

Next to De Lucchis »Kristall« table(1981), the exhibition will also show the chair »First« (1983), which is remarkable for the spherical objects mounted on its armrests to encircle the seated person like planets. De Lucchis »Riviera« chairfrom 1981, anticipates the pastel colours the designer was to use some years later in a series of experimental household appliances for Philips. This highlights the speed at which Memphis ideas entered everyday aesthetics and contributed to making 1980s design brighter and more playful. Another leading Memphis designer, Nathalie Du Pasquier, applied the group’s ideas to sophisticated textile patterns and interior designs. The exhibition shows her drawings alongside sketches by Michael Graves, an American architect loosely affiliated with the group.

In 1987 the members of this loose group of like-minded designers suddenly disbanded. Some had contributed no more than a few individual designs, but despite its short-lived existence, the Memphis group’s story and impact are the stuff of legend. The exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery is an homage to the brief but intense era of the Memphis group, whose energy and creative drive have lost none of their fascination.

3 Para vários jovens designers, o grupo Memphis tornou-se uma plataforma e um trampolim para lançar as suas carreiras e alcançar o reconhecimento internacional. Matteo Thun e Michele De Lucchi, por exemplo, continuam no segmento do design industrial internacional.

A par com a mesa “Kristall” de De Lucchis (1981), a exposição apresentará também a cadeira “Primeira« (1983), que se destaca pelos objetos esféricos montados nos apoios de braços para envolver a pessoa sentada como planetas. A cadeira “Riviera” De Lucchis, de 1981, antecipa as cores pastel que o designer iria usar alguns anos mais tarde numa série de eletrodomésticos experimentais para a Philips. O que destaca a velocidade com que as ideias dos Memphis entraram na estética quotidiana e contribuíram para tornar o design da década de 1980 mais brilhante e divertido. Outra designer importante dos Memphis, Nathalie Du Pasquier, aplicou as ideias do grupo a padrões têxteis sofisticados e designs de interiores. A exposição mostra os seus desenhos ao lado de esboços de Michael Graves, um arquiteto americano com algumas ligações ao grupo.

Contudo, em 1987, os membros do grupo de designers, apesar de possuirem ideias semelhantes, separaram-se. Alguns contribuíram com não mais do que alguns projetos individuais, mas apesar da sua curta existência, a história e o impacto do grupo Memphis são lendários. A exposição na Vitra Design Museum Gallery é uma homenagem à breve mas intensa era do grupo Memphis, cuja energia e impulso criativo não perderam o fascínio.

SEXUAL?

O termo revolução sexual é utilizado para referir a transformação dramática nas atitudes em relação ao sexo, à actividade sexual e à identidade sexual que tem tido lugar no Ocidente desde os anos 60. Tem culminado mais recentemente e mais dramaticamente nos notáveis sucessos políticos do movimento LGBTQ+ especialmente o transgénero, que é, de certa forma, a realização mais notável da revolução sexual.

As mudanças no comportamento sexual que caracterizaram os últimos 50 anos estão relacionadas com um processo mais geral de transformação, que envolve a transição para a vida adulta, a formação e o comportamento reprodutivo, que teve início na Europa do Norte e Ocidental entre as décadas de 1960 e 1970.Esta mudança difundiu-se lentamente noutros locais e foi definida como a Segunda Transição Demográfica para a distinguir da Primeira Transição Demográfica, que consistiu na

passagem de um regime de elevada mortalidade e fertilidade para um regime de baixa mortalidade e fertilidade.

Assim, as relações sexuais pré e extra matrimoniais, a fertilidade extra matrimonial e as relações homossexuais têm sido cada vez mais divulgadas e institucionalizadas publicamente. Esta mudança radical foi também impulsionada pela revolução contraceptiva, acompanhada pela legalização e subsequente difusão da pílula contraceptiva.Esta revolução acabou por permitir uma separação entre a sexualidade e a reprodução, um conjunto de papéis mais igualitários entre os parceiros, e uma liberdade sexual generalizada tanto para as mulheres como para os homens. Ironicamente, numa simetria mais profunda liga as revoluções sexuais de então e a que agora de vive. A pandemia COVID -19 desencadeou uma nova revolução sexual.

A pandemia fez de 2020 um ano muito pouco sociável, mas é esperado que o resto da década dê consistência à atual revolução sexual, ao estilo dos famosos e loucos anos 20 do século passado.

The term sexual revolution is used to refer to the dramatic transformation in attitudes towards sex, sexual activity and sexual identity that has taken place in the West since the 1960s. It has culminated more recently and more dramatically in the notable political successes of the LGBTQ+ movement - especially the transgender, which is, in some way, the most notable achievement of the sexual revolution.

The changes in sexual behavior that have characterized the last 50 years are related to a more general process of transformation, which involves the transition to adulthood, training and reproductive behavior, which began in Northern and Western Europe between the 1960s and 1970s.This change slowly spread elsewhere and was defined as the Second Demographic Transition to distinguish it from the First Demographic Transition , which consisted of the transition from a regime of high mortality and fertility to a low mortality and fertility regimen.

Thus, pre- and extra marital sexual relations, extra marital fertility and homosexual relations have been increasingly publicly publicized.

This radical change was also driven by the contraceptive revolution, accompanied by the legalization and subsequent spread of the contraceptive pill. This revolution eventually allowed for a separation between sexuality and reproduction, a more egalitarian set of roles between partners, and widespread sexual freedom for both women and men.

Devido ao confinamento imposto, as pessoas estão a ver mais pornografia (e com uma liberdade e normalidade nunca antes vista) a explorar mais o prazer próprio, a masturbar-se mais, a expandir os seus horizontes sexuais, a ter mais sexo virtual (participando em festas sexuais online e conversas por Zoom que envolvem jogos sexuais comunitários) e a aderir a redes sociais de caracter sexual, como o OnlyFans, que tem sido de enorme sucesso, envolvendo todo o tipo de pessoas, desde atores da indústria pornográfica, a tantas outras estrelas conhecidas.

Ou seja, e vendo o lado positivo da pandemia relativamente à forma como cada um vive a sua sexualidade, esta nova liberdade de ação, ainda que entre quatro paredes e à distância de um, ou vários cliques, terá um impacto muito positivo na mentalidade da maioria das pessoas.

Contudo, não sabemos se o impacto desta nova revolução será igual ou maior do que a primeira revolução sexual, nomeadamente para as próximas gerações, mas sabemos que este era um caminho necessário e certamente será um marco na evolução do ser humano.

Due to the confinement imposed, people are seeing more porn (and with never-before-seen freedom and normality) exploring self-pleasure, masturbating more, expanding their sexual horizons, having more virtual sex (participating in online sex parties and zoom conversations involving community sex games) and joining sexual-related social networks such as OnlyFans, which has been hugely successful, involving all kinds of people, from actors in the industry, to so many other well-known stars. That is, and seeing the positive side of the pandemic in relation to how each one lives his sexuality, this new freedom of action, even between four walls and distance of one, or several clicks, will have a very positive impact on the mentality of most people.

However, we do not know whether the impact of this new revolution will be equal to or greater than the first sexual revolution, particularly for the next generations, but we know that this was a necessary path and will certainly be a milestone in the evolution of the human being.

Costuma-se dizer que a casa é o espelho da alma. Considerando que esta é uma afirmação totalmente verdadeira, é natural que um homem que alcançou o sucesso a “misturar” música seja atraído por uma casa que é também uma mistura de estilos arquitectónicos. “Tudo o que sabemos” é que a casa que Alex Pallone, dos Chainsmokers uma dupla de DJs que ganhou um Grammy - comprada há dois anos foi construído na década de 1930. Nas décadas de 1980 e 90 foram feitas renovações, que levaram a casa para um estilo industrial. O “mashup” atraiu Mr. Pall, mas quando se tratou de decorar, optou pela ajuda de um profissional. Foi então que a magia aconteceu: a designer tirou proveito da mente aberta do seu cliente estrela de rock - e da coleção de arte que este possuía e direcionou a energia da decoração para o topo.

It is customary to say that the house is the mirror of the soul. Considering that this is a totally true statement, it is natural that a man who’s achieved fame and wealth mixing music would be drawn to a house that’s a hodgepodge of architectural styles.

“All we know” is that the home that Alex Pallone half of the Chainsmokers a Grammy-winning DJ duo—bought two years ago was built in the 1930s. In the 1980s and 90s renovations were made to the house and this added a dash of industrial edge. The mashup appealed to Mr. Pall, but when it came to decorating it, he sought professional hel. So, the magic happens: a designer capitalizes on her rock-star client’s open mind—and art collection and dials the décor energy to the top.

Alex Pall turned to Peti Lau to help him decorate his Hollywood Hills house. Mr. Pall had already installed the nature-themed wallpaper and the orange-velvet a couch in the family room when Ms. Lau began decorating the house. She acontinued the interior-jungle theme, as she called it, with a natural-fiber coffee table that evokes dried versions of the leaves on the wall, and leopard and tribal-print pillows.

Um detalhe muito original desta sala de estar é o mobiliário, nomeadamente um aparador da Essential Home: inspirado nos filmes de 007.

Monocles é um aparador inteiramente construído em nogueira maciça madeira, acentuada pelas suas portas frontais de latão banhado a ouro que apresentam um desenho circular saliente. Esses círculos são então gravados na parte traseira e lateral da peça, dando-lhe caráter e uma aparência sofisticada. É uma peça de mobiliário perfeita para amantes retro ou admiradores de meados do século.

“A casa tinha esse ecletismo embutido”, referiu Peti Lau, uma americana chino-vietnamita nascida em Israel cujas influências podem ser caracterizadas de forma semelhante. “Parecia apropriado abordar cada espaço interior como sendo um ambiente único”. A decoradora impetuosamente misturou décadas e cores e incorporou com mestria a coleção de arte contemporânea de Alex Pallone, uma abordagem que milagrosamente faz todo o sentido.

A very unique detail of this living room is the furniture, namely a sideboard from Essential Home brand in particular: inspired by the 007 films, Monocles is a sideboard built entirely out of solid walnut wood, accented by its gold-plated brass front doors that feature a protruding circular design. These circles are then engraved to the back and side of the unit, giving it an extreme character and high-end look. It is a perfect furniture piece for retro lovers or mid-century admirers, giving the knurling knobs on the drawers or the tapered legs.

“The house had this built-in eclecticism,” said Ms. Lau, a chinesevietnamese american born in Israel whose own influences might be similarly characterized. “It felt appropriate to approach each interior space as its own unique environment.” She brashly mixed decades and colors and incorporated Mr. Pall’s growing contemporary art collection, an approach that miraculously holds each room together

Malan Vorster projetou uma moderna casa na árvore, onde quatro colunas redondas são elevadas em postes para conceber este resort na Cidade do Cabo, que foi criado para permitir vistas entre as árvores.

Os arquitetos da Cidade do Cabo criaram a casa para um cliente que queria o seu esconderijo em Constantia, subúrbio da capital sul-africana que se assemelha a uma Casa da Árvore. O objectivo era contrariar o topo das árvores altas que rodeavam a área para maximizar as vistas da parte mais alta da secção inclinada. Todos os elementos foram deixados por tratar com a finalidade de secar naturalmente ao longo do tempo, ajudando a Casa da Árvore a tonificar com as árvores vizinhas.

Malan Vorster has designed a modern Tree House design project where four round columns are elevated on posts to conceive this resort in Cape Town, which was created to allow views amongst the trees.

The Cape Town-based architects created the home for a client who wanted their hideaway in the Constantia suburb of the South African capital that resembles a Tree House.

All the elements were left untreated with the purpose that they will dry naturally over time, helping the Tree House to tone with the neighboring trees.
