From Divo with Love The late 1990s and first decade of the 2000s were marked with deep focus on consumerism and excess. This decade has been marked by a disruptive form of capitalism. A kind of capitalism that is not a bad word, as more and more entrepreneurs disrupted the market by putting positive social change and sustainability at the center of the conversation. This is still a major learning curve for businesses and consumers alike, however it is leading to a new kind of awareness about what is really important. While we are still not in a perfect world, we can mindfully take steps toward to improve our quality of life one day at a time These new times can be overwhelming, and sometimes we all need to take a moment to breathe and enjoy simple moments. In today’s world we entered the era focused on elevating self-esteem through promoting social wellness with increased conversations around body positivity and even social positivity when it comes to gender expression and human sexuality. The necessity of positive male empowerment is of-

ten underestimated and seen by many in the modern world as controversial. Through the lens of wellness the importance of empowering all men of the current and future generations seem toward healthier self-esteem and embracing mindfulness is becoming increasingly necessary. Contemporary fashion brands are taking notice and starting this conversation. Coroa Yoga has been focusing exactly on motivating on elevating male self-esteem through fashion. The Los Angeles based yoga-apparel brand, founded by Galician creative Santiago Pazos, is challenging men of all ages to come to the mat. Wholeheartedly believing that the yoga practice makes a real positive change in peoples’ lives and consequently on the society, Coroa is kicking off a yearlong campaign aimed at bringing more men to the mats (#MoreMenOnTheMat). Through partnerships with local Yoga professionals and studios, Coroa has been holding a series of Yoga workshops for men with the aim of creating a safe space where males can experience the practice or even try it for the first time in a supportive environmen. This initiative was created to inform the male population about the benefits of the practice, but also fight against the misconceptions - for instance, the general belief that yoga is only for women.

A necessidade de empoderamento masculino positivo é, muitas vezes, subestimada e vista por alguns como um enigma controverso. Sob a ótica do bem-estar, a importância de capacitar todos os homens das gerações atuais e futuras a ter uma auto-estima mais saudável e a abraçar o mind-fullness, está a tornar-se cada vez mais necessária. As marcas de moda e lifestyle estão cientes dessa realidade e a trazer a temática à discussão. A Coroa Yoga tem-se dedicado a motivar a elevação da auto-estima masculina através da moda. A marca de roupas para ioga, sediada em Los Angeles e fundada pelo criativo galego Santiago Pazos, está a desafiar homens de todas as idades a juntarem-se ao movimento.

Acreditando que a prática de ioga produz uma mudança positiva na vida das pessoas e, consequentemente, na sociedade, a Coroa Yoga está a iniciar uma campanha de um ano com o objetivo de trazer mais homens para os tatames (#MoreMenOnTheMat). Por meio de parcerias com profissionais e estúdios locais de Ioga, Coroa Yoga realiza uma série de workshops de ioga para homens, com o objetivo de criar um espaço seguro, onde os homens possam experimentar a prática num ambiente favorável. A iniciativa foi criada para informar a população masculina sobre os benefícios da prática, mas também para combater equívocos, como a crença de que o ioga é apenas para mulheres.

Na loja encontram-se carnes certificadas cortadas a rigor, e alguns preparados de carne para refeições simples, em casa. Tudo o que está à venda também pode ser servido na sala do restaurante, um espaço elegante decorado com pratos antigos e garrafas na parede.

O espaço é requintado, bem decorado e convidativo e a refeição combina perfeitamente com o ambiente. He started his career in 2010 with remixes and mashups from singers like MIA or GRIMES. In 2015 released his first single “Ah! Pain”. In 2017, performed at the Lollapalooza Brazil festival.

In 2018, launched Blue Sky, in partnership with MC tha and, more recently, “Hurts Too Much”, filmed in Portugal.

When did Jaime Melo Maciel Júnior become Jaloo?

Actually there is no Maciel in my name, someone always puts this strange data on Wikipedia. It’s kind of funny. But I became Jaloo because I wanted a cool name to sign for what I produced musically at the time. I ended up thinking that the best choice would be to merge Jaime’s “Ja” and Melo’s “Lo”, and put one more letter to just show me up on Google (laughs).

“Hurts too much” was filmed in Portugal. Is it related to the country?

It is from those events where chance has become providential. The lyrics have a melancholy that dialogues a lot with the portuguese people, is one of the favorite songs of the portuguese, and the conjugation of the verb and certain words (pier, for example) talk a lot with the portuguese language of Portugal. It’s surreal, because I didn’t plan it, but I was there with a tour and all happened as naturally as possible so that the next video would be filmed there. And it was. And I’m really falling in love more and more with Portugal.

How was Portugal for you?

In fact, it is being. We returned in October. All of Portugal has a very warm hospitality to feel. I met some cities, such as O Porto, which is modern and smiling, even with the gothic / vampire vibe that carries. And I love it! I also really like Lisbon, the cosmopolitanism of the city and having security. We hardly feel safe in Brazil.

In Lisbon, I was walking around the city alone - at dawn - and it’s a unique experience. Surely my favorite thing to do in Lisbon is simply walking around the city with one liter of beer in my hand.

What inspires you in the creative process?

Absolutely everything, music was born in concentration and focus, but it was born on the plane, crying alone in a bus, of good conversations, listening to other songs that eventually inspire me. But I am instinctively following the flow of my love relationships, it’s almost always about someone.

What performances did you make most proud of?

The Music Box, in Lisbon, with an extra show, which was amazing!

But there were so many ... I remember three very well: In Fortaleza, in a public square, for 5,000 people who really knew how to have fun. In Recife, in a closed festival that gathered 9 thousand people, where I could not even hear my own voice, because I only heard the voice of the public singing. What are your goals five years from now?

Finish telling a story I decided to tell in three albums. After that, I can do anything. Rename, stop, form a band. But there are still two discs left, so ...

What can we expect from your second album?

A less magnetic and louder side, I think. I am really focused on showing a new side, challenging myself and getting out of the comfort zone to the fullest. I believe I am succeeding. The concept of the album is already a lot because it is based entirely on partnerships -

What is your dream collaboration?

Actually, I’m making these dreams come true on the record. There are at least two dream collaborations on the album.

Is there a generation of brazilian artists who, in recent years, have not only emerged “out of the closet”, but practically blew up the closet? What is your opinion on this?

I’m from the generation that really doesn’t care. We are already exposed because this is part of our nature and who we are. I really am very happy and grateful for my present, but I know many others have paved the way and may not have had the same quieter ground or people around supporting each step they take. But we also remember that Brazil is still a very complicated country for homossexuals.

In the movie “Paradise Lost” you play a drag queen, how was that experience?

Monique Gardenberg, the director, met my work by chance. I believe someone introduced me to her. She identified some potential, saw that I had something to show. Then she called me for a test and then, at dawn, showed me the script. At first I was very afraid, because I had never been an actor and I was afraid it was a fiasco, because there are many singers who don’t get along when they try to be actors. But I was believing in the project and getting involved with it. Then came a very strong script study and reading.

We started with pre-dialogues and there was a release from me as an actor, since Imam, unlike me who am shy, is a thrown person, always optimistic and who pursues his dreams. I learned a lot more from the character than what I had to give him. I believe I made it well into this world. It’s an amazing, dramatic and musical part that is really part of the story in a natural way.

What are the launch plans now?

The album, by the end of this semester and already leaving for another. I’m very focused on finalizing things these days.

What is a divo for you?

It is a state of spirit, peace, fullness and strengthening. That’s what I’m looking for right now.

Começou a carreira em 2010 com remixes e mashups de cantores como MIA ou GRIMES. Em 2015 lançou o seu primeiro single “ah!dor”. Em 2017, atuou no festival Lollapalooza Brasil. Em 2018, lançou Céu Azul, em parceria com MC tha e, mais recentemente, “Dói Demais”, filmado em Portugal.

Quando é que o Jaime Melo Maciel Júnior se tornou Jaloo?

Na verdade não tem Maciel no meu nome, alguém sempre coloca esse dado estranho na Wikipedia. É meio engraçado. Mas tornei-me Jaloo porque queria um nome legal pra assinar o que produzia musicalmente na época. Acabei por achar que a melhor escolha seria juntar o “Ja” do Jaime e o “Lo” do Melo, e pôr mais uma letra, para só aparecer eu nas pesquisas do Google (risos).

“Doí demais” foi filmado em Portugal. Tem alguma relação com o país? É daqueles acontecimentos onde o acaso se manifestou providencial. A letra da música tem uma melancolia que dialoga muito com o povo português, é uma das músicas favoritas dos portugueses, e a conjugação do verbo e de certas palavras (cais, por exemplo) conversam bastante com o português de Portugal. É até surreal, porque não planeei isso, mas, no andar da correnteza, lá estava eu com uma tournée no país e tudo a caminhar da forma mais natural possível para que o próximo clipe fosse

filmado lá. E foi. E realmente me apaixono cada dia mais pelo país.

Como foi Portugal para si?

Na verdade, está sendo. Voltámos em outubro. Portugal inteiro tem uma hospitalidade muito gostosa de se sentir. Conheci algumas cidade, como o Porto, que é moderno e sorridente, mesmo com a vibe gótica/vampiresca que carrega. E eu amo o Porto! Também gosto muito de Lisboa, do cosmopolitismo da cidade e de ter segurança.

Dificilmente nos sentimos seguros no Brasil. Em Lisboa, andava sozinho pela cidade - de madrugada - e é uma experiência única. Com toda certeza o meu programa favorito, em Lisboa, é simplesmente andar pela cidade com uma litrosa (um litro) de cerveja na mão.

O que o inspira no processo criativo?

Absolutamente tudo, nasceu música na concentração e no foco, mas já nasceu no avião, chorando sozinho num autocarro, de boas conversas, ouvindo outras músicas que acabam por inspirar. Mas estou seguindo instintivamente o fluxo das minhas relações amorosas, quase sempre tudo é sobre alguém.

Que performances suas o deixaram mais orgulhoso?

O Music Box, em Lisboa, com um show extra, que foi incrível! Mas

houve tantos... lembro-me muito bem de três: Em Fortaleza, numa praça pública, para 5 mil pessoas que realmente sabiam se divertir.

No Recife, num festival fechado, mas que reuniu 9 mil pessoas, onde nem conseguia ouvir a minha própria voz, porque só ouvia a voz do publico cantando. E em São Paulo, no Lollapalooza, um festival surreal que reúne fãs do Brasil inteiro. Inesquecível!

Quais são os seus objetivos daqui a cinco anos?

Terminar de contar uma história que decidi contar em tês discos. Depois disso, posso fazer qualquer coisa. Mudar de nome, parar, formar uma banda. Mas ainda restam dois discos, então...

O que podemos esperar do seu segundo álbum?

Um lado menos magnético e mais sonoro, acho. Estou realmente focado em mostrar um lado novo, me desafiar e sair ao máximo da minha zona de conforto. Acredito estar a conseguir. O conceito do disco já é muito isso, porque se baseia inteiramente em parcerias, seja com produtores ou cantores. Então, já estou bem feliz.

Que novidades pode partilhar connosco?

Não posso adiantar muita coisa, mas as pessoas que sigo no Instagram são uma boa dica.

O álbum chama-se FT porque vai ter featurings em todas as musicas.. Qual é a sua colaboração de sonho?

Na verdade, estou realizando esses sonhos no disco. Já estão pelo menos duas colaborações dos meus sonhos no disco.

Existe uma geração de artistas brasileiros que, nos últimos anos, não tem apenas surgido já “fora do armário”, mas que praticamente explodiram o armário? Qual é a sua opinião sobre isto?

Sou da geração que realmente não se importa. A gente já chega exposto porque isso faz parte da nossa natureza e de quem somos.

Realmente sou muito feliz e grato pelo meu presente, mas sei que muitos outros abriram o caminho e talvez não tivessem o mesmo terreno tranquilo ou com pessoas à sua volta apoiando cada passo.

Mas não deixemos de nos lembrar que o Brasil ainda é um país bem complicado para quem é homossexual.

No filme “Paraíso Perdido” interpreta uma drag queen, como foi essa experiência?

Monique Gardenberg, a realizadora, conheceu o meu trabalho por acaso. Acredito que alguém tenha me apresentado a ela. Ela identificou algum potencial, viu que eu tinha algo a mostrar. Daí, ela me chamou para um teste e depois, numa madrugada, me mostrou o guião.

No começo fiquei bem receoso, porque nunca tinha sido ator e tinha medo que fosse um fiasco, porque existem muitos cantores que se dão mal quando tentam ser atores. Mas fui acreditando no projeto e me envolvendo com ele. Então, aconteceu o estudo do guião e a sua leitura, muito fortes. A gente começou com pré-diálogos e houve uma libertação minha como ator, já que Imã, diferente de mim que sou tímido, é uma pessoa atirada, sempre otimista e que corre atrás dos seus sonhos. Aprendi muito mais com o personagem do que o que eu tinha de bagagem para lhe dar. Acredito que entrei com o pé direito neste mundo. É um papel incrível, dramático e com uma parte musical que faz realmente parte da história, de forma natural.

Quais são os planos de lançamento agora?

O disco, até o fim desse semestre e já partir para outro. Estou bem focado em finalizar as coisas atualmente.

O que é um divo para si? É um estado de espírito, de paz, plenitude e fortalecimento. É o que estou buscando nesse exato momento.

Mezcal can be made from 11 different types of agave that are native to Oaxaca, which is where these are mostly made. These agave

include quishe, pasmo, tepestate, tobala, espadin, largo, pulque, azul, blanco, ciereago and mexicano, but around 90 percent of mezcal is made from the agave espadin.

Though it is often confused with it´s cousin tequila, mezcal is actually another name for the maguey plant, as well as the generic name for spirits distilled from agave.

Technically, tequila is a form of mezcal, not the other way around!

No hall de entrada destaca-se o detalhe da parede frontal forrada a espelho bronze, conferindo maior profundidade ao espaço. O hall dos quartos é de estilo moderno, onde as cores, materiais, formas e texturas proporcionam um ambiente relaxante, como se de um jardim se tratasse.

O quarto de casal palmeiras é de estilo moderno, contrastando com papel de parede exótico, conjugando cores, lacados e pormenores em espelho. Já o quarto de casal ramagens, a cor azul pastel aguarela refletida nos vários elementos decorativos, confere ao espaço um ambiente romântico. Por fim, o quarto de casal mostarda tem um ambiente marcado por linhas neutras, onde a cor do cadeirão, almofadas e frisos dos lambrins se destaca do restante.

The living room is characterized by a modern, sophisticated and sober style design with black and cobalt blue contrasts, set in an architectural environment of classic lines, where predominate the paneling on the walls, the color marbles on the floors and the shape of the ceilings. The central room has a lounge-like décor, marked by neutral colors and contrasts of grays, blacks, exotic wood, prints and fabric textures. The dining room division has a repetition of the predominant elements of the adjoining living environment, where the glass table has the fundamental role of enlarging a small area.

The brand that was born in Japan in 1995 and migrated to the United States opened its first space in

Portugal, in the Chiado area, at Rua Paiva de Andrada. The restaurant has been open since August 13 2019 but this is not the first Afuri. The brand was created in Japan in 1995 by Hiroto Nakamura and the first restaurant opened eight years later in 2003 in Tokyo. After years of perfecting the art of making ramen, the house specialty now arrives in Lisbon.

O restaurante está aberto desde 13 de agosto de 2019, mas este não é o primeiro Afuri. A marca foi criada no Japão por Hiroto Nakamura e o primeiro restaurante abriu oito anos mais tarde, em 2003, em Tóquio. Depois de anos a aperfeiçoar a arte de fazer ramen, a especialidade da casa chegou a Lisboa.
