SERENA ZHANG

What’s splashing

goldfishies!

It’s your Lieutenant Governor Serena Zhang! I hope you’ve all had a great first month of school! We had a great DCM in August where we created bookmarks for children and donated them to the Cardz for Kidz organization. Everyone’s bookmarks were so pretty, so thank you so much if you attended this event! Our next division event is going to be the September DCM, and then it’ll be RTC (Region Training Conference) on October 26th!!

Soon, Fall Rally preparations will begin in October and continue until Fall Rally South on November 9th! It’ll be a super duper fun event and one of the biggest of the year, so please be sure to come if you can! Those are the major events coming up, it’ll be a busy end of the year but stay strong goldfishies! We can do it!

What is in the current, goldfishes?

It is your Division News Editor Julianna Hsu! How has school been? I know it has been pretty hectic for me... sorry this is a little late to release!

Loved doing the August DCM with the bookmarksit was so hot out there but everyone persevered through to make such special items for the kids!

With the September DCM coming up next week, make sure to RSVP on the google form! I can’t wait for you all to see the activity in store! Make sure to show up to have fun while helping the community! See you there!

We kind of have a lot of events coming up, with RTC and Fall Rally South for not only our division but for all others as well, so make sure to be there and make some connections with our fellow rainbow crew. Stay alert for more updates soon!

Swimming into Service,

Julianna Hsu

Thank you to all those who attended the DCM! I hope you can come to more!

FIrst Meeting FIrst Meeting

As our advisor Arelene Quinonez hits the gavel, Middle College High School starts its first ever official meeting! To start off the year our officers informed future and current Key Club members about what Key Club is, our objective, and goals for this semester and year. Cabinet members introduced themselves and greeted members with positivity and encouragement.

While the first meeting didn’t sail as smoothly, as of this meeting we have 108 participants in the club that joined us Approximately onefourth of our school! Our cabinet and members look forward to our next meeting and events that are in store for this year.

August 27, 2024 marks the day of Middle College High School’s initiation President Paola Sanchez, Vice President Anthony Nuñez, Historian Oscar Hernandez, and advisor Arlene Quinonez, stand next to each other as Middle College officially is officially part of Key Club and the Kiwanis Family

The Kiwanis Family Annual Meet & Greet at Shakeys was an event for high schools within the region to come together to converse, meet new and other members, and have fun with family as they all enjoy delicious pizza

IInitiation nitiation at Shakeys at Shakeys

Our Middle College Key Club members had so much fun bonding with one another and meeting members from other schools. Our officers were able to converse with other officers and learn what they can do this year to ensure Middle College has a first successful year and for members to have a wonderful experience!

Foothill Key Club

With Club Rush just a week away, Foothill board members have been busy creating new posters and spirit gear. This project not only let us showcase our Goldfish pride but also helped us bond as a team We’re excited to use the new spirit gear to attract and welcome more members!

Canyon Key Club

The beginning of the school year means the best Key Club activities are coming soon! Canyon Key Club’s biggest membership drive through our school’s Club Carnival is in the works. We are thrilled to say we are selling Dippin’ Dots to initiate this year’s fundraising for PTP and are planning our annual ice skating fundraiser! Later this month is the San Antonio Fiesta, a three-day community event where our members can volunteer at CKC’s game booths

From the start of the school year we have been preparing for the first club rush of the year. We hope to bring in lots of new members with exciting aspects. We plan on providing dip and dots sold for $5 a bowl. We hope to make lots of profit as a club. There will be colorful posters around the school and around for club carnival. The board got together to make a trifold and posters to advertise the club. We hope that when we hold our first general meeting there will be lots of new faces.

Orange High School Key Club volunteered at the Orange Street Fair and had a lot of fun

We got to check out the street fair which showcased many different culture’s foods and songs. We worked at the game stands and inflatables for the children's area and it was a lot of fun We had many fair games for the kids and it was heartwarming to see them walk away with a smile and a lot of prizes! This event spanned 3 days and many members ended up earning 9 hours or more in a single weekend! All of the profits went to schools in Orange

I worked as a game attendant and I had a lot of fun handing out prizes and encouraging the kids to play the games We were able to get 14 people to come to each shift of the event which was great! The weather was hot but we were kept cool under the shade and given nice cold water and breaks!

Thrift Store Event

The Thrift Store volunteering event was a big success, we earned service hours by helping out at a thrift store at the Full Circle Market at the Orange Circle. We folded pamphlets, passed out flyers, rearranged racks, and much more. We all had a good time and earned experience working at a thrift store.

Beach Bonfire

To end off our summer series of events, we had the Beach Bonfire Social which was the most memorable and fun event of the Summer! We all went to the beach, brought snacks, and games, and had a picnic. We watched the beautiful California sunset at the beach together. The sky and the water just looked so wonderful. The breeze and weather were perfect too.

We laid down on the ground, listened to music, and talked Everyone in the club got to know each other better by playing games and talking. My favorite part was when we went into the water to find crabs, I was a bit scared to touch the crabs tho haha. The atmosphere was nice and everybody at the thrift store was kind to us, it was a really fun time and we hope to have another service event just like this one. The Full Circle thrift store also donates to the local Boys and Girls Club which was amazing to find out.

The event was a perfect summer memory, and it was truly the best way to end our summer.
