MAKING A SPLASH Meet Dive Operations Manager Sarah Cann Divi Dive Bonaire is thrilled to introduce you to our new Dive Operations Manager, Sarah Cann. With nearly eight years of experience in Bonaire’s dive industry and a lifelong passion for the ocean, Sarah brings a deep connection to the island and its underwater world to her role.
Originally from the United Kingdom and raised between the UK and Portugal, Sarah first arrived in Bonaire in 2018 to work as a dive instructor for what was meant to be a one-year stay. Eight years later, she has made the island her home, building a long-term career and becoming a familiar face to returning Divi guests. “I’m thrilled to be stepping into this role at Divi Dive Bonaire,” says Sarah. “Divi Dive is the most established dive shop on the island, with so much history behind it, and I feel honored to be part of that. It’s also very special to be the first female manager in the history of the dive shop.” For Sarah, diving in Bonaire is defined by simplicity, accessibility, and connection to the
reef. “Diving in Bonaire is just so easy. You can get into the water almost anywhere and dive. The visibility is amazing, there are very few currents, and the reefs are full of life.” Beyond daily operations, Sarah is focused on creating a welcoming, safe, and memorable experience for every guest. “My aim is making every guest feel welcome and important. Creating an atmosphere that is relaxed and fun, but safe, and adapting to people’s needs wherever possible. Enhancing our service and being open to diver feedback is one of my top priorities.” Sarah also recognizes the importance of marine protection in her work, noting the critical role dive professionals play in reef conservation through guest education, awareness, and respect for Bonaire’s Marine Park rules. For her, that responsibility begins with helping divers slow down and truly see the reef. “There is beauty everywhere underwater, you just need to open your eyes. Maybe you have seen that fish species hundreds of times but take a closer look at their scales, colour, texture, pattern. Stop for a minute and watch their behaviour, they all behave differently.” It is this sense of curiosity, connection, and appreciation for the underwater world that Sarah hopes every diver carries with them long after their time in Bonaire. After months of construction, we’re thrilled to provide dives from our Main Dive Pier again, conveniently located at the dive shop and just steps from our studio suites. The pier is larger and has two custom made non-slip stairs perfect for divers of all ages. We have a NEW pergola, benches, and large rinse tanks on the pier, with 55 new lockers a few steps away next to the dive shop, and hope to have a shade structure in the future. Likewise, our South Pier has a new custom hybrid ladder/stairs, with rinse tanks, benches, and plenty of tanks for all-day diving.

All Divi Resorts destinations have gone strawless in an effort to curb pollution and reduce our carbon footprint. WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAM
We monitor all water use for pools, guestrooms, kitchens, restaurants, dining areas, and landscaping. STAFF AWARENESS
The Bonaire National Marine Park entry fee for all users of the park is $40 per person, per calendar year. All divers are required to present their Bonaire National Marine Park STINAPA tag prior to diving on Bonaire. Entry to the Washington Slagbaai National Park is also included when buying this tag. For non-divers interested in participating in other water activities, the Bonaire National Marine Park entry fee is $40 per person, per calendar year. Our team members participate in workshops and seminars conducted by environmental committees, local government organizations, and other conservation groups. ENERGY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
We use timers on our electrical equipment, including air-conditioning units, outdoor lighting for walkways, refrigeration equipment in the kitchens, and more. HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
We determine the suitability of all products before they are purchased and provide staff training when new chemicals or equipment are purchased. SOCIAL & CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
We promote and sell local tours and attractions, providing special recognition to vendors who use green practices. We also invite local vendors to our resort at least once a week to sell their crafts.
REEF RENEWAL PROJECT
We’ve joined the efforts of the Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire, a nonprofit organization working to protect and restore Bonaire’s coral reefs. We have added a coral reef nursery at the resort’s famous Calabas house reef, with a capacity of 300 critically endangered Staghorn and Elkhorn coral species. Visitors can support the project by adopting a coral nursery tree or thicket, or by participating in a Reef Renewal Specialty Course as a diver.
