10 Things to See & Do on St. Croix 1 Buck Island Reef National Monument is a

2 Step back in time to explore Europe’s

architectural, economic, and political influence on St. Croix at the Christiansted National Historic Site. Wander through 18th century buildings and Fort Christiansvaern’s original rooms to learn about the history of this significant site. Located on the waterfront at Christiansted, the area also includes the original customs house and the old scale used for weighing goods upon arrival to the port. 3 Explore St. Croix’s underwater world with

4 For a floral experience you won’t soon

forget, visit the St. George Village Botanical Garden, a 16-acre garden in Frederiksted with historic buildings and ruins from an 18th and 19th century sugar cane plantation. 5 Located right on the water, Frederiksted

is the island’s cruise port and a popular hang out spot, offering a wonderful mix of souvenir shops, art galleries, and eateries. Walk along the town’s boardwalk to enjoy ocean views and relax in the park amongst statues, canons, and historic landmarks.

6 If your idea of a good time includes an

adult beverage, you’re in luck! There is no shortage of distilleries on the island. Indulge in a rum tasting at the Cruzan Rum Distillery or Captain Morgan Distillery, a beer tasting at Leatherback Brewing Company, or a vodka tasting at the Sion Farm Distillery, which makes Mutiny Vodka from breadfruit.

8 Point Udall is the easternmost point of the

United States named in 1969 for Stewart Udall, the United States Secretary of the Interior under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. The site features the striking Millennium Monument, a large sundial which overlooks the ocean and surrounding mountains. 9 There are dozens of historic sugar mills on

the island, many of which were constructed between 1750 and 1800 when St. Croix was one of the richest sugar-producing islands in all of the Caribbean. The Estate Whim Museum & Plantation is one of just a few surviving sugar mills that’s been restored over the years. The area was damaged by past hurricanes, but it’s still a unique site to learn more about the island’s history.
