WHERE HORSE LOVERS CAN LIVE THE DREAM
LIVING THE DREAM EQUESTRIAN CENTER Fully Licensed by the MHIB
For anyone who has ever dreamed of spending more time in the saddle, Living the Dream Equestrian Center in Union Bridge offers a fitting place to do just that. Surrounded by the scenic countryside of Carroll County, this full-service equestrian facility brings horses, riders and plenty of room to roam together in one impressive setting. Located on Bark Hill Road, Living the Dream is designed for riders with a wide range of interests and experience levels. The center offers boarding, training, riding lessons, clinics, horse shows and exhibitions, creating opportunities for both dedicated equestrians and those still discovering just how much they enjoy life around horses. And there is plenty of space for those horses to call home. The facility includes 27 stalls and 19 paddocks equipped with run-in shelters and automatic waterers. Riders have access to both indoor and outdoor arenas, making it easier to keep riding when Maryland weather decides not to cooperate. Beyond the arenas, more than 150 acres of trails provide an entirely different way to enjoy time on horseback. Living the Dream welcomes riders from multiple disciplines, adding to the center’s inclusive atmosphere. Lessons are available with trainer Dianna L. Stafford, while clinics and other educational opportunities give riders the chance to continue developing their skills, confidence and connection with their horses. The center has also been recognized as one of Maryland’s Horse Discovery Centers—facilities selected for their welcoming approach to introducing people to horses and the equestrian world. Whether someone is an experienced rider, owns a horse in need of a comfortable home or simply wants to learn more about riding, Living the Dream offers a place where equestrian enthusiasm can grow.

A SMOOTH ROAD AHEAD
Serving Ellicott City and communities throughout Central Maryland, Got Paving tackles projects ranging from residential driveways to commercial parking lots and roadways. The company works throughout Howard, Carroll and Montgomery counties, bringing its paving expertise to homeowners, businesses and property managers across the region. While fresh blacktop may be the most noticeable result, there’s considerably more to paving than simply putting down asphalt. Proper preparation, grading and drainage all play important roles in creating a surface designed to handle vehicles, changing temperatures and Maryland’s unpredictable weather. Got Paving’s services include new asphalt installation, resurfacing and overlays, pothole and crack repair, sealcoating, grading and excavation. The company also handles commercial needs such as parking lot striping and ADA‑compliance projects.
301-898-5445
And asphalt isn’t the only material on the menu. Got Paving also works with concrete, providing flatwork for driveways and slabs along with patios, walkways, pavers and stamped‑concrete projects. For properties with long drives or a more rustic setting, chip sealing—often called tar and chip— provides another option. The company serves both residential and commercial customers, so projects can vary dramatically in size. One day’s work might involve refreshing a neighborhood driveway; another could mean resurfacing a business parking lot or tackling grading and site preparation. It may not be the flashiest home improvement, but a smooth, well‑maintained driveway can make a surprisingly big difference in a property’s appearance—and make every trip home a little less bumpy.
Because when it comes to potholes, cracks and crumbling pavement, sometimes the best road forward is simply a smoother one.
9/25M
A driveway probably isn’t something most homeowners think about every day—until cracks appear, potholes develop or that once‑smooth surface starts looking a little worse for wear. That’s where Got Paving comes in.

For generations, Snader Farms Beef has been dedicated to producing high‑quality, locally raised beef while preserving the agricultural traditions that have long defined Howard County. Built on a commitment to responsible farming, animal care, and exceptional flavor, the family‑owned farm offers consumers the opportunity to know exactly where their food comes from—and the people who raise it.
MHIC# 81066
All work done by the owner
At Snader Farms, quality begins in the pasture. The cattle are carefully raised with a focus on proper nutrition, low‑stress handling, and attentive care from start to finish. This hands‑on approach results in flavorful, tender beef that families can feel good about serving at the dinner table. From everyday ground beef and steaks to roasts and specialty cuts, every package reflects the farm’s dedication to excellence.
Since 1972
Buying directly from Snader Farms also means supporting local agriculture and strengthening the connection between farmers and consumers. Instead of traveling hundreds—or even thousands—of miles, the beef is raised close to home, helping reduce transportation while supporting Maryland’s farming community. Customers appreciate not only the freshness of the product but also the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how their food is produced.
Whether you’re planning a backyard cookout, preparing a holiday feast, or stocking the freezer with locally raised beef, Snader Farms offers a variety of options to fit every household. Many customers choose to purchase individual cuts, while others take advantage of bulk freezer packages that provide excellent value throughout the year.
Beyond producing exceptional beef, Snader Farms represents something increasingly important in today’s food system: trust. Knowing the family behind your food creates a connection that’s difficult to find in the grocery store aisle. From pasture to plate, Snader Farms Beef continues to demonstrate that great meals begin with great farming. It’s a delicious reminder that when you support local agriculture, you’re not only enjoying outstanding beef—you’re helping preserve the farms, families, and traditions that make Howard County such a special place to call home.

THINGS TO DO IN HARPERS FERRY
The Appalachian Trail also passes directly through Harpers Ferry, making the town an important stopping point for long‑distance hikers. Even if you are not planning to hike the entire trail, you can experience a section of it during a shorter walk. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s headquarters in town is another interesting stop, particularly for anyone fascinated by hiking and the famous 2,000‑plus‑mile trail. Nestled at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, is a small town with an incredible amount to explore. Known for its scenic beauty, historic buildings and connection to some of the most important events in American history, Harpers Ferry makes an excellent destination for a day trip or weekend getaway. Whether you enjoy history, hiking, shopping or simply taking in beautiful scenery, there is something for nearly everyone. One of the best places to begin a visit is Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. The park preserves many of the town’s historic sites and tells the story of the people and events that shaped the community. Visitors can walk along historic streets, explore preserved buildings and learn about Harpers Ferry’s role during the American Civil War. The town is also closely associated with John Brown’s 1859 raid, an event that helped increase tensions between the North and South before the Civil War. The John Brown Museum and nearby historic sites provide an opportunity to learn more about this fascinating period.

For those who prefer the outdoors, Harpers Ferry offers plenty of opportunities to explore nature. Hiking is especially popular, with trails ranging from relatively easy walks to more challenging climbs. One of the most famous nearby hikes leads to Jefferson Rock, a scenic overlook where Thomas Jefferson once admired the surrounding landscape. The Maryland Heights trail is another popular choice for visitors who want a more strenuous hike and spectacular views of Harpers Ferry and the rivers below.
HoCoMo Freddie's Trading Post West
After exploring the trails and historic sites, visitors can spend time wandering through the charming lower town. Historic buildings now house small shops, galleries, restaurants and other local businesses. The compact streets are easy to explore on foot, and the town’s old‑fashioned atmosphere makes simply walking around an enjoyable activity. Visitors can browse unique gifts, purchase locally made products or stop for a meal while taking in the historic surroundings. The rivers are another major attraction. The Potomac and Shenandoah provide beautiful scenery and opportunities for outdoor recreation. Depending on the season and conditions, visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, rafting, fishing and tubing. Even those who prefer to stay on dry land can find peaceful places along the river to relax, take photographs and enjoy the scenery. Harpers Ferry is also a wonderful destination for photographers. The combination of mountains, rivers, historic architecture and colorful seasonal landscapes creates countless opportunities for memorable photographs. Fall is particularly popular, when the surrounding hills are filled with brilliant autumn foliage. With its unusual combination of history, nature and small‑town charm, Harpers Ferry offers much more than a quick sightseeing stop. Visitors can spend the day learning about the past, hiking through the mountains, exploring local shops or relaxing beside the rivers. For anyone looking for a destination that offers both educational experiences and outdoor adventure, Harpers Ferry is a memorable place to visit.

A SWEET NEW CHAPTER IN MOUNT AIRY For generations of Maryland families, the name Rheb’s Candies has meant one thing: chocolate. Lots of very, very good chocolate. Now, that century-old Baltimore tradition has found a second home on Main Street in Mount Airy.
We Also Do Hardscape Patios & Sidewalks
Rheb’s opened its Mount Airy shop at 1 South Main Street in August 2025, marking an exciting expansion for a family business whose story began more than a century ago. Founded by Louis and Esther Rheb in 1917, the company started with Louis making candies in the basement of the couple’s Baltimore home. What began with taffies, brittles, fudge and jellies eventually grew into one of Maryland’s best-known confectionery traditions. The Mount Airy store brings that history—and plenty of chocolate—closer to customers in Carroll and Frederick counties. It’s only the company’s second most current retail location, joining the longtime Wilkens Avenue shop in Baltimore. Inside, longtime Rheb’s fans will recognize the treats that have inspired generations of holiday traditions, gift giving and occasional “I’ll just have one” promises. The selection includes handmade chocolates, truffles, creams, caramels, clusters and seasonal specialties, along with assortments that make choosing a favorite deliciously difficult.
Cleaning • Restoration • Repairs
301-253-2718
The Mount Airy opening also represents something bigger than satisfying the local sweet tooth. Bringing such an established Maryland business to downtown adds another reason to stroll Main Street, shop locally and discover something with a genuine connection to the state’s history.
And Rheb’s certainly has history. The company remains family-owned, with descendants of Louis and Esther continuing the candy-making tradition more than 100 years after that first batch was created.

For longtime devotees, the Mount Airy shop means a shorter drive for a familiar favorite. For newcomers, it’s an introduction to a Maryland institution.
