Foreword Hello Everyone, 大家好! It is my very great pleasure to welcome you to the 2020 Learning & Teaching Expo in Hong Kong – this year in hybrid format, where it’s all about showcasing fresh possibilities as we reimagine the future in the wake of COVID-19.

The UK Department for International Trade (DIT) is proud to support the Expo. We are partnering again with the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) to bring outstanding UK suppliers to Hong Kong. Together we will be combining both live and virtual experiences to demonstrate the breadth and quality of what the UK has to offer. The UK has an outstanding reputation for excellence in education and skills. From school and university study in the UK and English language teaching overseas, to exports of educational learning and teaching resources, equipment and software. The UK education supplies sector is also widely recognised as being at the forefront of innovation. School closures due to COVID-19 are affecting learners worldwide. The disruption has imposed a fundamental shift in the mode of delivery in schools, from traditional face-to-face provision to online learning, creating substantial opportunities for EdTech companies. UK businesses have become world leaders in developing and bringing to market innovative and world leading education technology supporting, for example education administration, reduction of teacher workload, student and community engagement, excellent teaching and student attainment. Our educational suppliers are constantly developing high quality, effective and innovative ways to meet the needs of learners today and tomorrow. 2020 has been a year like no other. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the global education landscape. Due to sustained class suspension distance learning and eLearning solutions have overnight become the new normal. The need for online education for educators, parents, students and life-long learners has never been more urgent. UK education companies have been at the forefront of this rapid technological change. Educators are seeing and using the benefits of online education and it is clear that new learning technology is here to stay. Learning & Teaching Expo 2020 will bring together and examine the effects of the pandemic on education and all that has changed for the future of both teaching and learning. Over 270 free programmes, including seminars, open lessons and hands on workshops, will be hosted by more than 300 local and overseas education professionals. From Virtual software and App to Physical STEM projects
Many participating schools have already showcased their student projects at BETT 2020
Launched in December 2014 by the Association for IT Leaders in Education (AiTLE), British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA), Department for International Trade (DIT), ETC Educational Technology Connection (HK) Ltd and Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity), the UK-HK ICT in Education Partnership Initiative brings together 20+ UK edtech organisations to deliver comprehensive solutions through a series of programmes and initiatives in Hong Kong and the UK.
In response to the Hong Kong Government’s directives in Coding and STEM education, since 2017, the TestBed programme has expanded its scope to cover a wider range of the UK’s latest STEM education solutions.

The focus on STEM, Coding and Creativity of the TestBed programmes since the 5.0 edition sees the growth of schools participating at the annual AiTLE student delegation to the BETT show.

This programme will connect English Language Learning through storytelling with STEM
Highlights of the UK-HK ICT in Education Partnership Initiative January 2016 - HKSARG Education Bureau and AiTLE, in strategic partnership with BESA, DIT, ETC and HKEdCity, led an education mission to the UK. The education mission provided opportunities for 35 Hong Kong school educators and 15 industry representatives to attend and share findings at the Pre-BETT ICT Conference, BETT Show London and on-site visits to UK schools and ICT companies. It also enabled Hong Kong Government, schools and the edtech industry to explore UK curriculum implementation, eLearning, STEM education and school management efficiency. The Hong Kong delegation has since then conducted post-UK trip sharing with primary and secondary school teachers and principals, and triggered various e-learning initiatives.
January 2018 - sees yet another HKSARG Education Bureau and AiTLE Hong Kong delegation to the BETT Show London. It was the largest delegation ever consisting of 76 members: 53 educators, 11 industry representatives and 12 students. Case Study: BBC micro:bit in Hong Kong schools As a direct result of the 2016 HK Education Mission to the UK, the BBC micro:bit has been introduced to and taken root amongst Hong Kong schools, AiTLE micro:bit Focus Groups were formed. In 2017, AiTLE published 2 free micro:bit teaching resources: “micro:bit for coding” and “micro:bit for STEM”.

The students have been looking forward to participating in 2021 BETT Show, however due to Covid-19 the show has been cancelled.

The organisation represents over 350 members covering all levels of education from pre-school to university, and provides all types of equipment from furniture to ICT, in order to meet the equipment needs of educators worldwide:
Association of IT Leaders in Education (AiTLE) was formed by a group of school IT Coordinators & ICT Teachers in 2002/2003. The association’s main aim is to promote quality of education through the use of information technologies in form of peer-sharing, seminars and workshops. Up to now, AiTLE has 17 years history in IT in Education & ICT Teaching. AiTLE now has more than 1700 members from more than 950 K12 schools, and is the largest Teacher Professional Association related to IT in Education and ICT teaching in Hong Kong.
