DESIGN EXPERIENCE July 2020 - Present Adobe illustrator operator
Following my graduation, I began work at Elms Marketing. I use Adobe Illustrator and various other softwares to set up the artwork required for each order, the artwork is created for the NBA (National Basketball Association) and NFL (National Football League), once designed I upload the work to industrial digital printers before applying to the jerseys.
Sept 2018 - June 2019 Design assistant
During my placement year from university, I worked alongside teachers in various technology departments including STEM, programming and model-making, helping the students as a design and technology teaching assistant.
June 2015 Designer
During my sixth form studies, I gained work experience shadowing the Product Design module leaders at Staffordshire University, being set tasks to improve my design skills and aiding with small projects and preparing the design students for their degree show.

Opus THE PROBLEM Following the recent drastic changes to office workers globally, with new restrictions and law changes, finding 60% of the UK population having to work in their own homes, who may not have the luxury of owning all the equipment for a home office or the space.

MOOD BOARD
Pinterest was used to discover inspiration for the design of Opus to get more familiar with furniture design shapes before sketching. The main themes I wanted to convey for this design was functionality, style and privacy for the office worker.
DIGITAL IDEATION
CAD MODEL
• Surrounding design for privacy. • Sound insulation design to embolden a quiet work-place. Individual design styling to encourage solo working. Retractable office table for comfortable desk working.
• Plant shaped desk to convey a calm environement. • Easy access to put away table for leisure or relaxation. Organic forms presented in the tubular structure. design. Wooden and steel materials for clean look.
PROPOSAL
Opus creates a reserved environment for a working individual, despite their current living space. The design of the chair used similar qualities of a room divider to add privacy and sound insulation. Following similar university lecture theatre furniture, Opus is equipped with an adjustable desk, allowing comfort to the user and no extra space required.
BRIEF: “Ensuring a more effective drug delivery, than standard inhalers, for asthma and COPD sufferers. Targeting users who display symptoms at night. And allowing their condition to be monitored and be guided to care for themselves”

PORTFOLIO / 2020
HELLO, I'M ABS
PROBLEM IDEATION
The UK has some of the highest death rates from asthma in Europe, due to the lack of necessary care. With mortality rates raising 20% in the past five years from asthma attacks. A shockingly high percentage of users incorrectly use their inhaler which causes a low dose of the steroid to be actually inhaled.
3 Adults in the UK die everyday from an asthma attack.
SKETCHING
70-90% Of the time, one mistake is made when using an inhaler, reducing the amount of medication inhaled.
4-40% Of the steriod is inhaled by the user when a mistake in made with an inhaler (without the use of a spacer).

SCENARIO
3) Medication is taken from the base.
1) The user may experience symptoms while sleeping.
2) Device is removed from the base.
4) The canister is inserted into the actuator spacer.
5) The medication is released into the chamber and inhaled.
7) The peak-flow device is turned on.
8) The tube is extended out of the device.
9) The user blows hard and fast to record their peak-flow.
10) The Spiro app can be used to store data and set reminders.
11) The spacer can be removed and washed or wiped clean.
12) The device recharges when placed back in the base
6) Medication canister can be stored below in the device.
Spiro works in-conjunction with the app to provide more features to the user.
Reminders to take medication or pick up new prescriptions.
The app creates a login for the user to store their data and provide specific advice.
Seek medical advice, book doctors appointments and order repeat prescriptions
Creates personal action plans which explain what peak-flow ‘personal best’ percentage the user should get.
User specific feedback is provided from tracking their peak-flow scores.

SOLUTION Spiro combines a valved holding chamber (VHC) and a digital peak-flow meter. VHC increases the percentage of medication inhaled by 60-85% than a standard inhaler. A peak-flow reads the users PEF to monitor their condition and consider changes in their readings.
:Aesthetic prototype model made The research found these features to benefit their condition, however, not used, as using one product (inhaler) requires less effort. These treatments have not yet been combined to form a single product which makes the users' life easier.
While being a finalist at university, we were set a design brief with a strict timeline by the industrial design company, Seymour Powell: "Enhance an existing personal device or home appliance through modularity"

USER TESTING
SCENARIO OF USE
1) Each module of Voke can be used individually and be stored together on the base. 2) One of the featured modules is a bluetooth speaker to play music produced by the user.
3) Another modular feature is a handheld microphone for users to record live music.
4) The microphone has a flexible cord to comfortably record without holding.
5) This module is a music pad board which creates instrumental sounds and allows the user to download samples, record and edit music
6) Voke connects all components together for the user to make music. With a rise is social media, the phone stands creates a filming platform to record and publish their creations. 7) The modules recharge when placed into the induction charging dock.
THE DESIGN
Voke is a personalised music production tool which shapes various opportunities for the user to choose, with various modules working as one or together, and art to be created freely.
Bluetooth speaker - Portable - Additional aux input
Music pad board - Pitch control - Record features
Microphone - Handheld size - Flexible cord with mic
CONNECT THE MODULES
Input / output - volume, USB C charge, MIDI USB and aux.
BOTTLE OPENER The brief: We were asked to design a functional polymer 'widget' that is intended to be given away to promote a brand or product. Then manufacture the mould tool required for the injection moulding process to make the widget.
Group project
MANUFACTURE PROCESS
To make the bottle opener for Corona, a donor part was cut which is shaped to open bottles, multiple inserts were lathed and milled to create the shape for the plastic to mould around. A CNC milling machine was programmed to make the cavity into the mould tool.

The plastic bottle opener has an embossed logo presenting Corona’s brand. With a key ring and clip the bottle opener can easily be attached to keys and detached. The shape reflects the famous lime wedge which is served with the beverage.
Mass Manufacture For the injection moulding project as a group, we researched the possibility of mass manufacture. The task was set to manufacture 3 million widgets in 3 months. Redesigning the mould tool layout to a radical design (more widgets produced with each injection mould) this estimated;
28 per minute 1,714 per hour 274,285 per week 1,097,142 per month 3,291,428 in 3 months
(following an estimated cycle time, maintenance periods and existing injection moulding for products).

THANKYOU
For taking the time to read
I would describe myself as an easy-going character who always tries to make people smile. Among my enthusiasm to designing, drawing is a hobby of mine, portraiture styles and since teaching in Spain for a year, learning Spanish has become another key interest of mine. During my final year at university, I focused my last product design project on medical design, by improving the current asthma treatment devices, having struggled with these issues myself due to being asthmatic. This area of design is something I feel driven towards as being able to create products to help people is something I strongly care about. However, as most of my designs were improved with a mobile app, I have become more interested in UX/UI design which allow a more graphic style. Using skills already gained in solidworks and rendering softwares, I have now begun teaching myself Figma to help pursue a UX/UI role. I feel driven and determined to follow a successful career in whichever design industry I begin.
