IMPORTANT NEWS Victorian stamp duty concessions and first home buyer assistance The Victorian Government has recently announced plans to invest more than $678 million to make housing more accessible and affordable for Victorians.

Here is a snapshot of what this could mean for you and some handy links to more information.

Land transfer duty waiver - 25th November 2020 till 30th June 2021 Properties up to $1 million will see a reduction on stamp duty. Home buyers will save 50% in stamp duty (worth up to $27,500) for new builds and 25% (worth up to $13,750) when purchasing existing residential properties. This is in addition to discounts for first home buyers and pensioners. https://www.sro.vic.gov.au/victorian-budget-2020-21-announcements Land tax discount - 1st January 2022 till 1st January 2040 A 50% land tax discount is eligible build-to-rent developments, to help increase the supply of housing and create more options for renters. These developments will also be exempt from the Absentee Owner Surcharge over the same period.

Investment in the build-to-rent sector aim to stimulate construction activity, create jobs and support Victoria's economic recovery. https://www.sro.vic.gov.au/victorian-budget-2020-21-announcements First Home Owner Grant - Contracts of sale entered up until 30th June 2021 The Government has also extended the $20,000 First Home Owner Grant for people buying or building a new home in regional Victoria.
