Leura Gardens Festival Nine stunning, private Blue Mountains gardens rarely accessible to the public, along with the National Trust property Everglades, will open for two weeks at the Leura Gardens Festival, Saturday 3rd October to Sunday 11th October. See page 9

New Bank The community of Katoomba and the Upper Blue mountains have filled their minimum share subscription, ensuring the Community Bank® branch will open in Katoomba in late October. The $1.1 million maximum has also been very nearly reached with 260 local shareholders in this exciting community venture. Leura Village Fair For over 25 years the Leura Village Association has sponsored the Leura Village Fair and this year it is the 10th and 11th October. The central strip of the mall will be full of cherry blossom and the shops bring their goods out on to the pathways with lots of extra stalls. Megalong Books will have local children’s authors at the shop on Sunday October 11th. From 10am - 12 you can meet author-illustrator Nina Rycroft and from 12 - 2pm you can meet the incredibly popular Emily Rodda, author of the
