Alysha Selected For AIS Training Camp Local athlete Alysha Pearson has been selected to attend the Little Athletics Under 15 Training Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. The prestigious camp is for those athletes in the Under 14’s that finish in the top three at the State Championships who are selected. Alysha’s selection comes on the back of her gold medal and first placing in Shot Put at the State Championships in March, earlier this year. The Training Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport is designed to provide coaching from some of Australia’s best High Performance coaches with active participation from athletes. Whilst there, they will work on their general fitness, attend workshops on strength and conditioning, nutrition and meet with senior elite athletes. The Jamison Little Athletics Centre athlete set herself three goals this year and has already achieved two! Alysha’s first goal was to throw 13 metres in shot put and she achieved that last month at the CIS Athletics Carnival with a throw of 13.03 metres. Her other goals are to throw 40 metres in discus and to throw 45 metres in the hammer throw. Alysha’s sporting idol is Dani Samuels, the Australian athlete who recently competed in discus at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Alysha hopes to one day follow in her footsteps.
