Sports Equipment bonus for students The Minister for Education and Training, Verity Firth has announced that every government school in NSW will receive a grant to buy sporting equipment under the Premier’s Sporting Challenge.

GP High School will receive $5,587.79, GP Public School $5,291.24, Regentville Public School $4,974.92 and Surveyors Creek Public School will receive $3,933.70.

“This program supports all schools in helping their students achieve active and healthy lifestyles.” said Ms Firth.

This year’s $7.5 million allocation averages nearly $3,300 per school.

The kits include gym, field and court equipment for sports.

“Jesus all about life” Starting around the middle of September and running for 4-5 weeks will be an advertising campaign on the internet, TV, & billboards & even on some signs around homes in Glenmore Park, with the words “Jesus all about life”. (Just like the logo on this page.) What is it that makes Jesus unique?

So special? What is it about Jesus that continues to have him as one of the most talked about people in all history? Is it his miracles? Is it the way he spoke and the powerful wisdom that was contained in the words that he said? Is it just the sheer goodness of his character? His compassion? His kindness? Child Care Vacancies to go Online Local parents will now be able to access, for the first time, information regarding child care centre vacancies online, said Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury.

“These changes are part of the Rudd Government’s new child care reporting requirements,” Mr Bradbury said. “Under the new changes, child care centres will be required to report the number of vacant places for each day of the week. “The new requirements will make it easier for parents to check for child care vacancies in their local community or close to their place of work and make it easier for parents to compare services and select appropriate care for their particular needs. Families can also access information such as child care locations, fees, services and early learning programs.

“The Government is committed to increasing transparency in the child care industry and to ensure that parents have the information necessary to make important decisions about their children’s care and early education.

“The Rudd Government is committed to providing Australian families with accessible, affordable and high quality early childhood education and care and this announcement builds upon that commitment,” Mr Bradbury said.

This improved vacancy information will be made available to families via the Child Care Access Hotline on 1800 670 305 and the www.mychild.gov.au website as soon as services report the new data over the coming months.

Now you do not need to pack up your car for a day trip – Hapi and Cath from Field to Feast either grow whatever you would like locally, or source local farm fresh for you. If you are after something more exotic, then we can, by special request, buy in from our contacts in the industry for you.

We label our own grown produce ‘chemical free’ as we believe that the taste is better without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilisers. Luckily we are situated next to a turkey farm which keeps us in manure throughout the year, and then Leppington Organics are also able to supply much needed fertilisers to help us care for our plants and soil.

Unlike other commercial farmers we are able to keep our overheads low, so

that we can provide quality produce at a price you can afford. By purchasing your fruit and vegetables through us you are also providing income to many struggling farmers in our local area.

Our produce goes from ‘Field to Feast’. Not only do we bring fresh to the markets we also pickle and preserve our produce as the seasons rotate. Currently we have a large range of chilli pastes and sauces, along with many unusual pickles, dips and pestos made from recipes gleaned from around the world. We love tempting people with taste testers – one bite generally and you’re hooked.

Unusual varieties get us excited too – wait until summer when we have some of our heirloom tomatoes for you to try! Spring planting has started so our range will expand over the next few months including the much requested zucchini blossoms.

Paddlewheel Jazz On Sunday the 20th September, the Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler and the six-piece Mulgoa Road Jazz band join forces to raise money for the Brian Spurrett Foundation which was established to raise awareness of maternal and child health in the Asia-Pacific region. The Foundation offers opportunities for training and education of both doctors and midwives from the Pacific Islands in Australia, New Zealand as well as in their own local hospitals.

Brian was a long time resident of

the local area. He spent his professional life committed to pursuing improvements in reproductive health and sharing his skills and expertise locally, nationally and internationally especially in the Pacific nations. The Brian Spurrett foundation allows his important work to continue, beyond his premature death in 2000.

Rome wasn’t built in a day…and neither is Padre Pio Parish The Catholic parish of Padre Pio in Glenmore Park was inaugurated in 2004 and is the first parish in Australia to be named after the Italian priest who bore the stigmata of Christ. It has taken 15 years for the parish to have its own church building in the premises of Bethany Catholic school on William Howell Drive.

Fr Kevin Lee the motorbike riding, karaoke singing, Sydney Roosters obsessed parish priest was appointed to Glenmore Park six years ago by Parramatta Diocesan bishop Kevin Manning. Through his commitment and dedication to his flock and along with their active participation, he has driven the project so that the parishioners will soon have their own church.

At present, weekend Masses are celebrated at Caroline Chisholm College in Glenmore Park. With the completion of the church it is hoped that many more parishioners who presently worship in Penrith will attend services at Padre Pio church. According to the 2006 census of the 20,403 Glen-

more Park residents surveyed, 37.1% identified themselves as Catholic. Fr Kevin expressed his appreciation “Fortunately they don’t all come to Mass

every week, because we could never build a church big enough to accommodate them!”
