Our Pets are Wishing for a Merry Christmas! It’s estimated that 13% of Australians will buy their pets a present at Christmas, so with this in mind, Petbarn Penrith Mulgoa is calling on local residents to also help animals in need by getting behind the Petbarn Foundation’s annual Giving Tree Appeal, which raises much-needed funds for animal shelters across the country. To get involved in the appeal local residents can simply purchase a $3, $5 or $10 Christmas decoration, which comes in two parts - one to hang on the Petbarn Penrith Mulgoa Giving Tree and one to take home for their very own family Christmas tree. All funds raised through the appeal will be donated by the Petbarn Foundation to local animal shelters including the RSPCA, Bendigo Animal Rescue, The Lort Smith Animal Hospital, Peninsula Cat Rescue, The Cat Corner, Cat Haven and The Australian Animal Protection Society. Last year over $209,000 was raised through The Giving Tree Appeal, and this year, the Petbarn Foundation is aiming to exceed this amount. “We know that many pet parents from all over Penrith City will be coming in store to buy presents for their furry or finned friends as part of family Christmas celebrations. While they’re here we’re encouraging them to get behind this fantastic cause,” said Debbie Harrison, Store Manager, Petbarn Penrith Mulgoa. “Buying a Christmas decoration for our Petbarn Penrith Mulgoa Giving Tree is an easy way to help support pets in need. Sadly, we see an increase in pets being housed at shelters after the festive season, so we are hoping to raise as much funds as we can to help support our local shelters looking after these animals,” said Debbie. The Petbarn Foundation Giving Tree fundraising promotion will run until 24 December, with the funds presented to the nominated charities in the New Year.
