Emu Lions Celebrate 30 Years The Lions Club of Emu Plains are celebrating their 30th Anniversary. The local club will be hosting a dinner on Saturday 6th October at the Emu Sports Club at Leonay, at which time they will officially donate $2,000 to each of nine local charities, recognising their respective contributions to the community. Those nine charities are; Penrith Community Kitchen (Penrith), Kurrambee School Little By Little (Werrington), Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy (Western Sydney University, Kingswood Campus), Barnados Penrith Children’s Family Centre (Cranebrook), The Haven Nepean Women’s Shelter, Nepean Hospital Cancer Care Centre (Kingswood), Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (Glenmore Park), Nepean Hospital (Kingswood) and the Lions Clubs International Foundation. The charities will be officially passed their donations at the dinner, where it is anticipated they will outline how they will utilise the contribution from Emu Lions. Details of the function are soon to be released and Lions Secretary, Sue Hunt, said “all will be welcome and full details will be available through the press and via our website and Facebook page”. It is currently planned that Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School Aboriginal Dance Ensemble will perform the Welcome to Country and a dance performance at the function, local singing artist, Brittany Gleeson, will also perform on the night. cont.
