Person of the Month Dianne Jacobus

After 14 years as the Manager of the Katoomba Neighbourhood Centre, Dianne Jacobus is moving on. She is leaving the Blue Mountains to move closer to family, and is looking forwards to a break and a little time to herself. “I’ve loved my time here,” said Dianne, “but its time for me to go, and to hand over the reins to someone else.” Dianne has steered the Neighbourhood Centre through some big changes, and has been an intrinsic part of many projects that benefit our community, putting in hours and hours of her time and an immeasureable amount of energy and dedication. “Social justice underpins the way Dianne works,” says Sue Jaques, who has worked with Dianne for all of her

14 years as Manager. Dianne has been a wonderful manager, inspiring and encouraging both paid staff and volunteers. She has a talent for seeing ‘the light and spark’ in the people around her, and takes the time to encourage people to develop their skills. For the full version of this story, visit

Thank You Jill On behalf of everyone at KNC a big “thank you” to Jill Hodgson from the “Katoomba Op Shop” for her wonderful support for KNC for over 10 years. In that time, Jill has donated thousands of dollars which have supported KOOSH, Neighbourhood Counselling, Community Visitors Scheme, Katoomba Volunteer Home Visitors and the childrens playroom. Jill has a big and generous open heart to many local people and a willingness to engage and be friendly as she went about her work.

CWA Leura The Group International Day will be held in St. Albans Church at Leura on

the 19th of April. Scotland is the country being studied this year. We meet at the CWA Hall in Leura every Monday at 9.30 am. Everyone is welcome. Please come and join us for a cup of tea.

CWA Blackheath The Blackheath group had wonderful success at the Land Cookery Competition and the Handicraft Competition with Mrs Halpin’s sultana cake, Mrs Tooke’s shortbread and Mrs Sherlock’s crochet jumper chosen to represent the Blue Mountains Group at the CWA State Conefrence at Port Macquarie in May. The CWA also celebrated its birthday at a lunch at Katoomba Golf Course organised by Mrs Bice with a wonderful birthday cake decorated and donated by Mrs Hide. On April 19, to help with fundraising, the CWA are holding a fashion parade in conjunction with Bailey’s Ladies Fashions at 10.30am at the Uniting Church Hall, Lovett’s Leap, Blackheath with lunch to follow.
