SO MANY DISASTERS, SO MANY NEED
Advertisement
I am sure that the recent and ongoing disasters around the world have touched us all. The war in the Ukraine, floods in Pakistan, New Zealand and at home in Australia, and the Earthquake in Turkey and Syria that has caused a shocking 50,000+ deaths
Our Rotary Foundation is working hard to assist where the need is greatest. This is the Rotary Foundation that your Club supports and that a number of Rotarians support as Paul Harris Society members, Centurions or individual donors. The need is greatand continues to grow. If you can review your level of giving and where possible increase your involvement in what should be, as a Rotarian, your “Charity of Choice “ you know that your donation will be well managed and used to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Our District 9810 Foundation projects 2022/23 to date includes:
The UKRAINE –We are in the 2nd draft for a Global Grantto assist with emergency housing US$18,000 total
TURKEY: We are sending USD $10,000 from District Dedicated Funds (DDF) to District 2430 in Turkey so they have the option of initiating a GlobalGrant (effectively, USD$18,000 contribution matched at 80%).
POLIO PLUS $10,000. To ensure our fight to end Polio continues.
Rotary against Malaria (RAM) $5,000 to support programs tocontrol and eliminate malaria. Give Every Child a Future $5,000 to help vaccinate 100,000 children against three diseases, over three years, in nine Pacific Island countries.
Please refer to the District Website to see options for Clubs andIndividuals to contribute directly.
Many Rotary members are asking how they can help. Here's how to have the greatest impact:

Australia Day Celebrations:
From reports received the RC of Monbulk and District Australia DayBreakfast was once again a sensational and well run event enjoyed by all.
I attended the RotaryClub of Wandin’s Australia Day Breakfast Celebration and family day. It was a full house at their new venue at the Wandin Football ground, a great success. Congratulations to both Clubs.
Imagine Rotary
I also attended “Imagine Rotary” with 35 other forward thinking Rotarians to sample the RYLA experience with a twist. This was a pilot project with Rotaractors and RYLA Leaders educating Rotarians. We listened to some outstanding speakersover 2 days, had lots of fun, and where we gained a valuable insight into the thoughts of how and what our younger generation need to continue their Rotary journey. Special thanks to Trish Carr, Les Marton for organizing the event and to all of the Rotaractors and Rylarians for their involvement . A survey has strongly recorded a repeat of this event in 2023-24
