How To Be A More Resilient Leader

As leaders, the decisions we make in times of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity, are key. We make these decisions in the context of challenges we face, often under pressure. Developing and sustaining resilience allows us to continuously pivot and grow. Essentially, it’s about the ability to recover from, or adjust easily to, misfortune or change.

Whilst it’s easy to feel like a victim, that’s not going to enhance our ability to recover. At the end of the day, we are only human. And humans make mistakes.

Two questions arise: How do we find resilience? And, where does it come from?

Domains of Resilience Vision

We may have set a vision, but it may be necessary to introduce a shorter-term one. Reset the vision.

Health

Our health is key. Statistically, 2000 people die each year working themselves to death; don’t be a stat.

Tenacity

Misguided without the other domains, it’s a maverick train crash. With the other five, it’s an inner belief that there is a solution out there – waiting.

Collaboration

Sustainable solutions are ones generated with input from others in the team.

How do we access these domains?

As a strategic leader, stop and think about your resilience. Use the domains of resilience referenced to find inner resolve. You may not use all the domains, but it’s important to search for opportunities in each area. This will take your resilience levels to new heights as an exemplary strategic leader.

Composure

As leaders, the shadow we cast is wide. If we’re calm, our teams are calm. Ask yourself, ‘why should someone follow you?’ Keep your composure, leading like a swan.

Reasoning

Apply rationale and logical reasoning to work through a plan.

How to Create An Additional $2m Within 15 Years

How can you create a plan that will have you on track for the life of your dreams? Use your surplus business or personal income to fast track your retirement options by following 3 steps.

Remember though, professional advice is a vital step to ensure success.

The information provided here is general in nature and not specific to your personal circumstances.

1. Professionally Managed Superannuation

Most people have a superannuation account, but few take notice of how their money is invested. If you are a high growth investor, consider removing any cash and fixed interest investments. This will expose your money to the greatest growth opportunities.

2. Professionally Managed Share Portfolio

Do you have a business bank account and find your balance is building over time? Consider the benefit of investing your surplus funds and adding a regular amount monthly. This is known as a dollar cost averaging strategy.

3. Diversification with Property: Commercial and Residential

Consider the benefits of purchasing rather than renting. There are two steps to obtaining this investment: surplus income, and a 20-30% deposit; Or another option is using equity in an existing property. You can also consider a Self-Managed Super Fund. You may be able to use part of your existing superannuation funds as a deposit for the purchase.

By implementing these strategies, keeping in mind that professional management and diversification is key, you will be on track to creating greater wealth, and closer to living the life you’ve always dreamed of.

Simple Communication Goes A Long Way

Have you ever rung a government department, bank or large organisation and been forced to wait for hours? You get the idea that your time isn’t as important as the person you’re waiting for. At GroupSupport we believe that your time is just as valuable as ours.

My name is Peter Trenaman, and in January 2006 when my (then) business partner and I started the business we didn’t know much about marketing or strategy. We really only knew about our technical field of IT: systems, networks, databases, software. But we did know the important concept that our clients, and their businesses, need to keep their doors open.

As our client base grew, we repeatedly heard an important message back, that we were one of the few places who answered the phone promptly and treated people with respect.

On a professional level, as an insurance broker, Derek took the time to understand our businesses before evaluating and proposing potential insurance cover.

Derek has an in-depth understanding of 'all things Insurance' and we have had all our insurances organised by Derek over the past three years.

Certainly providing 'Certainty in Crises,' I have previously recommended Derek's expertise to other businesses and have received a very positive response from every business I have referred.
