Pawnee Community Chamber of Commerce PICK PAWNEE!!!

What a month!!!! May of 2021 in Pawnee has been one of the busiest months we have had in over a year. May 7, 8 and 9 was the Oklahoma Steam & Gas Engine show in Pawnee. This show draws visitors, vendors and exhibitors from all over the country. Thrashing demonstrations, grain grinding, mini tractor pulls, black smith demonstrations, beautiful old tractors and steam engines of all ages and makes are on display. We were so excited to host this event after a year delay. The weather was perfect for this event and going on at the same time was the 10th anniversary of the 100 Mile Yard Sale. 2021 was the first year the sale was officially a Pawnee Community Chamber of Commerce sponsored event. It should have been called the 1,000 mile Yard Sale. There were 20+ towns signed up for the sale with organizer, Amy Hedges of Forgotten Oklahoma and the Pawnee Tag office. Mrs. Hedges stated there were 300+ sales signed up and a large percentage used the new phone app to help shoppers find their sales. Many weeks in advance, the Chamber and Mrs. Hedges began receiving calls from as far away as California and Oregon requesting information about motels, camping sites, restaurants, shopping and other areas of interest in our town. Friday and Saturday, the Pawnee Court House Square was the center of activity hosting a very diverse gathering of vendors selling everything from candles, T-shirts, wood carvings, BBQ sandwiches and a really fun bounce house for the kids all at the time of the 2 day yard sales. Our Pawnee downtown merchants, restaurants and Pawnee Camp grounds were thrilled with all the extra visitors to our City. Our beautiful Pawnee lake area is being renovated to accommodate all the campers we know are looking forward to beautiful weekends. We are excited to be your host for a weekend, an afternoon of shopping or an evening for a great meal. Joyce Freeman, Manager
