The future
AIMS Children’s Series 2025: Dhaka and Sherpur, Bangladesh
On 21 February 2025 (after several years hiatus post Covid) more than 500 happy and excited children in Dhaka stepped off the start line of the newest AIMS Childrens’ Series event.
AIMS provided a generous three-year sponsorship to RunBangla International (RBI), a local AIMS member race organiser, to create an event for children of all socio-economic backgrounds and abilities.
RBI worked closely with the community and received enormous support from the Mirpur Runners volunteers to create a festive day of running for children. The event was open to any child under age 13 willing to challenge themselves in one of three age-appropriate distances ranging from 100m to a kilometre.
RBI worked with SOS Hermann Gmeiner College in Dhaka leasing a beautiful sports ield for the event. Many local community and business supporters were involved for an afternoon illed with games and tasty treats for the children in addition to medals, shirts and inisher certiicates.
The event created memories for the children that will hopefully lead to lifelong enjoyment of the

healthy lifestyle and the itness beneits of the sport.
Under the management of Khandaker Rajib Hossain, RBI Chief Oficer and AIMS Ambassador to Bangladesh, along with Race Director Obayedur Rahman the event was a complete success.
From the outset RBI was committed to outreach efforts to include as many girls and boys from underprivileged, marginalized and indigenous communities with a goal to make certain that all children be included.
With careful use of the budget afforded to RBI by AIMS, RBI, with support from Sherpur Runners, was able to create a second segment of the AIMS Children’s Series 2025 the following week on 26 February. At the Miriam Nagur Mission sports ield located ive hours north of Dhaka in Jhinaigati, a smaller but no less enthusiastic ield of young runners sprinted off the start line.
“The future of running” is the AIMS slogan for the Children’s Series. That future was perfectly on display on two bright sunny days in Bangladesh this year, with anticipation expressed from all the children to return next year. RBI is already planning events for 2026.

The impact doesn’t stop there: post-event efforts saw a recordbreaking 1150 kg of plastic materials collected and recycled – the equivalent of 46,320 plastic bottles. Score Marathon also eliminated 62,000 single-use plastics across event tees, inisher tees, and bibs in 2024.
The movement continues with Pressio race shirts made from recycled materials and inisher medals crafted partly from recycled plastic. Runners are also encouraged to bring their own reillable bottles to hydration stations, further reducing waste and promoting a cleaner, greener race environment.
Post-race the excitement continues at the Race Village where runners can recharge, reconnect and celebrate. From ice pools, sports massages and sports taping to vibrant festival vibes, the atmosphere is buzzing with energy. The race welcomes elite athletes, casual runners, and families alike, offering distances from 5km to 42.2km and making it an event for everyone. In the ranking of fastest marathon cities the largest marathon of the Netherlands is in fourth place. Highlights of the course include the start and inish in the Olympic Stadium, the passage through the Rijksmuseum, the Heineken Experience and stretches along the Amstel and through the Vondelpark.
The main distance of the event is the TCS Marathon itself. Enjoy the world capital of Amsterdam and run along the most attractive passages of the city. The course in Amsterdam is known for being lat, fast and full of historical character. The start and inish take place in the historic Olympic Stadium. Every year this leaves an unforgettable impression thanks to the presence of the supporters on the terraces and the marathon grandstand. The course of the Marathon follows a part of the course of the 1928 Olympic Games Marathon alongside the Amstel River, passing by stately mansions and windmills. This rural trail offers beautiful views and gives an impression of the enormous activity that rules the Amstel every day. The course leads runners close to capital’s inner city where there are many highlights that are worth a separate sightseeing tour.
The Mizuno Half Marathon is the biggest Half Marathon in the Netherlands and is part of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon. It consists of one loop, most of which passes through the attractive city centre of Amsterdam. The course starts at the Stadionweg and goes through Churchilllaan, Rijnstraat and the Utrechtse Bridge over the Amstel River. Next you run through Watergraafsmeer and Zeeburg. The rest of the course is the same as that of the full marathon.
