Airspace Over Richer Takes in New Feature

The view from above shows the development of the Richer Dawson Trail Park. Projects still being worked on are a BMX track and toboggan hill, dedication pergola at the entrance, a veterans’ memorial, a PA sound system and outdoor family movie equipment. Future plans are to cover the grandstands, more LED lighting throughout the park and start developing sports programs. If you have any ideas, the Richer Community Club is happy to hear them. We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm.

Treated to a Fireworks The Richer Community Club would like to congratulate Jasmine Kroeker who participated in the Richer Community Club Community Scavenger Hunt. Her ballot was drawn for the $400 package of residential fireworks courtesy of the RCC and CanFire. We hope she and her family have a spectacular and safe show. Again... Congratulations!

Optimism In Challenges

Sitting outside on the patio at my parents’ place enjoying the end result of a good Barbeque, thinking to myself, where has summer gone. When we begin to see “back to school” fliers coming in the mail, we all know the not so subtle message, summer is all but over.

This summer has been particularly challenging for most of us... having to deal with a narrative that leaves a blurred line between fear mongering and reality. For our home it has been a journey of securing faith in the only God that can see each of us through. There is hope. The question is are we willing to pursue that hope?

Hope, what is hope? There is a hopeful conversation in the last part of Romans 8:29-39. The writer says “we” overwhelmingly conquer.

The “we” here is inclusive to all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

This conquering is not on our on, it is through Him who loved “us”.

The “we” referred to here are not the elite of the elect; they are ordinary Christians. The evidence that they “overwhelmingly conquer” is that they persevere in opposition. We all know what our opposition has been this summer. These challenges have not seduced them and the terrors have not swayed them. What gives hope is they have not yielded to the pressures of the present nor the frustrations of the future. They know who holds their future, it is not they, it is God their Saviour. You see, they are aware that no human powers, nor anything else in all creation, not even the powers of hell can separate them from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus their Lord.

I would like to invite you to become part of this Christian team, because each member cannot be separated from the love of Christ, or the love of God in Christ. Covid or no Covid, there is no power that can stop Christians from being Christians. Listen, Jesus loves you, and if you are a child of God, you are in the family. We are loved not simply by a peer, but by God Himself. His special love attaches itself to all who have been called according to his purpose (Say it with me, “Jesus loves me”). The guarantee that we shall prevail and persevere, and prove that we “overwhelmingly conquer” is nothing other than the sovereign purpose of God. If God is for us, who can be against us. There is no greater security imaginable. He is our hope.

Richer Fellowship Church is open for worship with four spaces of worship. We are still making available (when possible) livestream on YouTube (Richer Fellowship) and FM 87.9 in the parking lot. Sunday morning worship begins at 10:30am. With God in our lives we can get through this, and stay safe through this.

God be with you.

This year is no ordinary year due to Covid-19 for many organizations. The Dawson Trail Museum was closed during the summer months which gave them the opportunity for renovations. The museum committee is very thankful for individual donations and for grant donation from Ste Anne Municipality of $5,000 and Ste Anne Caisse Group Financial of $800 and a grant approval of $13,368 from Building Sustainable Communities Program Grant Funding where they matched them dollar for dollar towards the electrical upgrade in the museum. The total cost for the upgrade was $27,157.21.

They extend their thanks to KenGro Electric Ltd for the electrical upgrade which was completed

on July 31. They invite you to come in and view the change, and promise… you will see the light.

In early July all artifacts on display were packed or covered during the project so they decided to give the walls and ceiling a facelift before reinstalling the artifacts. This project was completed on August 31. Thanks to local painters Norm Bremaud and Denis Jobin for taking on the project. Total cost for this project was $7,087.50.

The museum is now looking for volunteers to help clean the artifacts before placing them back on display. Anyone wanting to

give a helping hand on September 8th & 10th please call Yvonne at 204-422-9369.

The museum was also approved a grant of $5,000 through Covid-19 Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sports organization. They are grateful to receive support as this year their fundraisers have been cancelled.

Further, the MMF funded a summer student employee (David Dyck) at the museum for the summer months. They wish to thank him for all his help in setting up a library, maintaining the grounds, painting outdoors and attending as a vendor at their Farmers Market.

Livestock Holding Pens Going Up in Park The livestock panel project at Dawson Trail Park is almost complete as supplier Real Industries have manufactured and delivered a bit over half the panels and volunteers are dry fitting them on the grounds. The semi permanent panels will allow the rodeo committee to spend a bit less time of setting up the infrastructure for the annual Richer Rodeo. Capitol costs for the project are coming from the Chase the Ace infrastructure fund and the Province of Manitoba through their Sustainable Communities grant process.

Saturday, September 12 and 26: Recycling Collection. 9:30 am - 12 noon. 1st stop Burnell’s, 2nd stop Richer Inn, 3rd stop Tibeauville, 4th stop Timberline, with the 5th stop at the Richer Husky where the recyclers will remain until noon. Recycling can also be dropped off in the recycling shed located in the Richer Husky parking lot at your convenience.

The Dawson Trail Museum committee will hold their monthly meeting at the museum on September 14 at 1 pm.

The Dawson Trail Museum will host their weekly Farmers Market every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm on the museum grounds until September 27.

SPMF Bingo! Monday evenings at the Richer Young at Hearts Club. Back up and running. Please visit their Facebook page for rules on who and how many can participate due to social distancing regulations.

The Dawson Trail Museum committee will hold their annual AGM meeting at the museum on Thursday, October 15 at 1 pm. We are seeking new members to join our committee, if you feel you can share new ideas or participate in giving to your community please contact Yvonne at 422-9369 for more information. You may become a member for a fee of $5 a year which will give you updated information of what is happening during the year.

Fall Supper CANCELLED... September is usually the month for Fall Suppers and we regret that this year due to the Covid 19 we will have to postpone it until next year.
