Canada Day in Richer was a blast!

Creating an event linking in two venues (the Dawson Trail Museum and the Dawson Trail Park) is a winning formula mixing in fun for all ages! Almost 4,000 people attended part or all of the day to mark our great country’s birthday.

History Comes Alive for Delegation on Dawson Trail Adventure

A special delegation consisting of employees from the tourism, employment and immigration branches of the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM) was hosted in our region on June 24th. Their day consisted of a tour along the historic Dawson Trail, followed by lunch in Richer and an afternoon at the Dawson Trail Museum. Hosts Pierrette Sherwood, founder of the Dawson Trail Arts and Heritage Tour and Yvonne Fontaine-Godard, President of the Museum, combined their efforts to coordinate a fun and immersive experience that included amazing race-like challenges to test their knowledge and skills around themes relevant to the Dawson Trail. Following a tour of the commemorative trail along route 207 through Lorette, Dufresne, Sainte-Anne, La Coulée and Richer, the group of over 40 people, was divided into groups, and rotated through six game stations that included, among others, a “lost gold” quiz, a log saw cutting contest and target practice with a horse whip! Many laughs and a fun day were had by all.

Community Club Awards Two Bursaries

The Richer Community Club was able to award two bursaries of $1,000 each to local youth

for 2026 through their Brent Wery Memorial Bursary Fund.

Ste Anne Collegiate student Jenna Ostrowski was awarded a $1,000 Brent Wery Memorial Bursary by Hailey Wery.

Abygail Martens who attends St. Joachim School was presented one of the two $1,000 bursaries from Hailey Wery.

Discover Our Past.

Dawson Trail Museum Celebrating Our Past.

This summer, the Dawson Trail Museum will be open from Wednesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm and closed Monday and Tuesday.

With one exception, the museum will be closed on Rodeo weekend where you can find them at the rodeo trading post along with the vendors.

The Richer Crib Club met on June 9 and we had a fair turnout. Our winners for the evening were Jim McKerchar in first place, Gayle Carriere in second and Henry Medereos in third. George Dupuis took the dimes for fouth place, while Art Bergmann got the booby prize. Gayle Carriere and Dan Ross each took one of the two 50/50 pots. Congratulations to all our winners!

Our next tournament will be on Tuesday, July 14 at 7 pm at the Young at Hearts hall. Entry fee is still only $5, you don’t need a partner, and snacks and coffee are always free.

We always have a good time, and you are all invited to join us! We would love to see you there. $30 per person. Contact Ron at 431 275 0874 for tickets or information.
