Cover Over Rink is Up!

The cover over the rink area in the park is up, and with only a bit of landscaping remaining, the Premier Tech MultiPlex is ready for use. The basketball hoops and skateboard/BMX ramps should be setup in the next few days. Thousands of hours of volunteer planning, fundraising and labour went into the community project.

Premier Tech has purchased the naming rights for the five storey tall structure for the next ten years.

The RCC is hoping to invite all the corporate sponsors to a “meet the community� event in spring 2021.

While some landscaping is still needed, the cover over the rink is a done deal.

RCC hosted an evening of fireworks that included gift bags for the kids, free hotdogs, free popcorn and free drinks.

The drive-in event saw over 1000 people in the park alone with almost twice that amount lining the fence line and roads. People from throughout the southeast and even Winnipeg showed up to take in a great show.

Recycling can also be dropped off in the recycling shed located in the Richer Husky parking lot at your convenience.

The Dawson Trail Museum will host their weekly Farmers Market every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm on the museum grounds.

Peace In Volatility

By Pastor Ben Marjorie and I have taken some time to go riding in the eastern side of our province, and the southern part of our province. It is enjoyable to spend that kind of time with a special person that one has been close to for many years, 41 years to be exact. During each of those rides we marveled at the volume of water in each of the above mentioned areas. In the southern area, a friend of mine said he had been preaching from a dock the Sunday before, and now that same dock was under water. Each of these areas had been hit with significant rain fall that contributed to the flooding. This past Sunday afternoon (June 28) the western side of our province received its own deluge of rain. This spring seems to be occupied with volatility. Volatility in the weather by dumping large portions of rain in relatively small areas creates significant damage to each area. Not only has the weather been volatile, but our air has been introduced to a volatility of its own, seeking to threaten the comfort and freedom of life as we have come to enjoy. Fear has enveloped a large portion of our population introducing a form of volatility that is foreign to us.

This fear that has been created by the volatility can be overcome with the introduction of faith in God. It is through this faith working in our lives that brings peace. This peace is not simply a momentary

The Richer Community Club (RCC) handed out their annual Spirit of Richer bursaries this year to Daniel Martens of Ste Anne Collegiate and Sabrina Burnell of Lorette Collegiate. Both students from the area have show merit when it comes to volunteer work, the cornerstone of the bursary description. The RCC congratulates the students and wish them well in their future endeavours. well-being, it is God in and through Jesus’ presence in our lives that brings peace. The volatility that we have all experienced is real, but at the same time we can have peace in the volatility, realizing that God is with us in the volatility. You see the flooding that the people experienced is real and some were even in a vulnerable situation because of property and lively hood being threatened. The weather has been volatile and creating vulnerability, yet, through it all we can still experience peace. The fear that threatened our stability can be neutralized by the faith of God in our lives. You see, when we realize we are not in this thing alone, we can have peace and experience genuine peace and enjoy with its calming effect on our homes and family and friends. Here is a novel thought, which is real and true, Jesus loves me. Say it with me: Jesus loves me.

At Richer Fellowship Church we have chosen to be empowered by the faith of God, faith of Jesus resident in our lives. We invite you to join us in our time of worship Sundays at 10:30am. Busy Summer in Park

With Covid-19 taking a toll on the number of visits to the Dawson Trail Park, the Richer Community Club has kept busy.

The Premier Tech MultiPlex was just one of many projects taking place.

At the east end of the park, a BMX mogul track is being designed and constructed thanks in part to a grant from the Canada Post Foundation. In winter, this area will double as a toboggan hill for kids.

Permanent stock pens will be delivered and erected soon to complete the rodeo arena, making it easy to host any event involved with livestock. This is made possible in part from a grant from the Province of Manitoba Sustainable Communities Fund.

Another project is taking place that involves multiple areas in the park including the entrance. More details will be presented in the next couple of weeks on the RCC Facebook page.

Gil Ross of Mr. Gravel poses with the 18,000 lb rock that the RCC picked out.

The rock will be placed just inside the entrance to the park. A bronze plaque will be set to the face of the rock.

Fern’s Craning and Al Durocher coordinate the delivering of the rock to the park and assist setting it in its permanent position.
