Richer Welcomes Christmas Celebration In the past, Richer and the area was never short on Christmas Spirit and this year things are only getting more festive. Not one, but two sales took place in the community, with a new one at the Dawson Trail Museum adding to the annual sale hosted by Sue at the Young at Hearts Club.

Christmas lights are up on the main streets of Richer thanks to the LUD committee and they have received prize support from even more local businesses this year for their 3rd Annual Festive Lighting Contest!

Just 2 km north of Richer on PR 302, April and Ken Boer open up their yard to visitors to view their vast light display. Every year the display grows. They accept donations for a pet rescue.

Richer Christmas

annual community calendar is out in time for Christmas. It makes for a unique and inexpensive gift.

The RCC Chase the Ace is getting up there again with a jackpot of over $7,000! That would be a nice win for someone in the community before Christmas. It is held every Saturday at the Richer Inn. The skating rink at the park is a great place to have some fun! Added this year is a figure eight skating path through part of the park. This was a brainstorm by the team maintaining the ice and the RCC can not thank them enough for their creativity.

Christmas in the Park!! To be held on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 1 pm to 3 pm. This is a chance for your children to meet Santa before the big day and get a small gift too! Hotdogs, coffee and hot chocolate are free again this year. Added will be a cookie sale with proceeds going towards park improvements. Hay rides, bonfire and more!

On December 31 the SPMF Bingo is creating a “double session” bingo night… regular bingo, a “$5 social lunch” then a second round of bingo starting at 10:45 pm. Have some fun with family and friends to ring in the New Year!

The EnRicher is published as a service by the Richer Community Club Inc.

The Richer TOPS Club holds meetings every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the Richer Fellowship Church Sunday School building, and we are inviting anyone who is interested in Taking Off Pounds Sensibly to join us.

We are a very casual group who have a lot of fun together, learning new ways to eat and discussing how we can stay on track every week. We are a less expensive alternative to other weight loss organizations, and our goal is to help each other with our weight loss goals. If you are interested in our program, you are welcome to come down and meet everyone any Tuesday evening, or if you would like more information, please call Marj Betts at 204422-8486.

Richer Fireside Youth...

“Fearfully and Wonderfully Made”

On November 3, Youth Leaders brought Youth to a Discipleship weekend at Fisher Bay Bible Camp where staff continues to build on Bible truths introduced at summer camp. These monthly “huddle” sessions dig down deep as staff can afford the time to spend one on one with each Youth encouraging them to share their hearts.

Back at the gym, it’s been great to see new families coming out to enjoy games and obstacle courses! For our life lesson, each Youth created a rose from homemade play dough, learning that as the “Potter” they could shape the rose any way they wanted to, but just as no two roses were alike in the end, as God’s children, they too were “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139).

The Youth Christmas party will be held on Friday Dec.14 at the Richer School gymnasium from 7-9 pm.

Crib News

Richer Crib Club met on Tuesday, November 6th, for their first regular tournament of November. We didn’t have all of our regulars there, but we still had enough for a good time, with a few new people as well. George Dmitruk won the evening, with brother Don Dmitruk taking second, and Paul Saindon, our new reeve, winning third place. Lucy Richard took the Booby prize while lucky George also won the 50/50. Last Tuesday, we were very well attended at our second tournament of the month, with five full tables! Carole Marleau won the evening, with newcomer Jim Stone coming in second, and Gayle Carriere winning third place. Art Bergman too the Booby prize while Wally Adair won the 50/50. Congratulations everyone! We hope to see you all again at our next bi-weekly tournament on Tuesday, December 4th at 7 p.m. in the Young at Hearts hall. We always have a great time! Entry fee is $5, 19 hands pay a dime and coffee and snacks are always free! On the 18th, we will likely be having something special, so keep that in mind and plan to come early that night!

God Is Well Ordered

Christmas in your life may not look like a well ordered life. You might even think your life is a complete disaster or mess. You may have even said that a life as messed up as yours God may never be able to use.

You might want to think about it again when viewed in light of some biblical characters. For instance, Joseph’s life gets all messed up in Genesis 37ff. His brothers get so angry with him that they sell him as a slave and then deceive, or lie to their father and make him believe that Joseph has been killed and devoured by the animals. In hind sight we see that God meant it for good in order to save thousands later from starvation. Sampson manages to mess up his life when he has an eye for a Philistine beauty, even though his parents chose a Jewish woman for him. His parents seem to be unaware that this was from the Lord (Judges 14). NASB. King Solomon’s son also makes a decision that will negatively impact his life. The price? Loosing half the kingdom. We might say, what a mess! But

God says, this thing is for Me. Still another character, Jacob. We read that he is a liar, a cheat, etc. which causes him to flee for his life. He winds up sleeping out in the open with only a rock as his pillow. Something happens when he wakes with a vision of angels.

He says, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”

(Genesis 28). NASB Some of you may think that your life appears to be well ordered, at least what others are seeing, but underneath what is it really like? There may be pain, brokenness, or even shame. Do these things overwhelm you to the point that you seem to be unable to fix them? The good news is, God is bigger than any of your problems and your messy life. God is not impotent that He cannot help. The great thing is, He is not limited or confined by our boundaries. He is God, creator of all that is. Unlike us, He is not afraid to work in messy situations. We could maybe say, He gets excited when we allow Him to surprise us with His amazing grace.

What is your the pain that is in your life? We might even ask, what is the mess that you are currently struggling with in your life?

Just maybe, if you would allow Him, He may be able to take your mess and convert it or bring it to a blessing. Listen to the following verse: “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28, NASB. God knows how to well order society and personal life, if we will only trust Him. Now, it is Christmas time. And let’s ask the question: How bad can it get? A young girl gets pregnant. Her parents are totally ashamed. Her fiancé (not the father) is prepared to dump her. To his surprise he is told, “Do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit”.

(Matthew 1). NASB We ask again, how bad can it get? The young woman goes into labour, she is nowhere near home, and she gets directed to an unconventional place to give birth to her child. The place was a place where lambs were born to provide for the sacrificial system in Jerusalem. She must have asked, who is this child that I just gave birth to? Her thoughts may have been in a mess, and maybe even her life as she is trying to sort it all out? Outside there is a whole other story, that of celebration.

God sends many angels to announce the birth of the child in Bethlehem. “. . . behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2). NASB In all of this, which could be seen as a bit of a mess in Mary and Josephs lives yet God sorted it all out to bring blessing and honour and glory to Himself and peace to Mary. You see humanities good news is God come among us to bring us redemption through the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and who has sent the Holy Spirit in whom we live and move and have our being. This Christmas, let God break through all of your pain, shame, and brokenness. Invite Him to clean up your mess and allow Him to well order your life.

Monday Night Bingos - To raise funds for Stacey Pchajek Memorial Foundation Inc. The foundation provides scholarships, bursaries and prizes to students graduating grades 8 and 12.
