Discovery High School’s current principal Aaron Smith has decided to step down from his position after this school year.The new principal for Discovery High School (DHS), Odyssey (OMS), and the soon-to-be merged Camas Connect Academy (CCA) is Dr. Daniel Huld, who had been the principal of CCA prior to these new changes.

In his statement, Huld described himself as a leader who listens and is a team player. Huld said he will build structures and systems to support staff and students.

In order to choose the new principal who would be in charge of our school, CCA, and OMS, a group of students and staff volunteered to be a part of a panel that interviewed potential candidates for the position.

On March 30, Smith announced during an assembly that he would not be returning next year as Discovery’s principal. Smith’s departure was a major part of the walkout that took place the next day; many students were worried that a different principal wouldn’t
