Krewe De Rivière | 2026

Inclusion and community were at the heart of early discussions when local leaders set out to create a second Mardi Gras krewe for Monroe-West Monroe. In 2019, the Krewe de Rivière was officially formed - built on the values of welcoming everyone and celebrating the community that makes our region shine. Six years later, those founding principles remain front and center. From the start, Krewe de Rivière carved out space for everyone to join the fun. Their formation also sparked the beginning of a beloved dance group. The Louisiana LunaChicks - an all-inclusive women’s dance team - lead with empowerment, community service, and sisterhood. The group reflects what the Krewe is all about: celebrating people, lifting one another up, and creating joy through movement, creativity, and connection. This year’s theme is Island Time, and the Krewe is bringing all the tropical vibes as they roll through Monroe-West Monroe on February 7 at 3:00 PM. Expect vibrant floats, spirited performances, and signature throws that make this parade a must-see. Music lovers are in for a treat, too. Live performances are a hallmark of this parade, and the 2026 lineup features local high school bands, the Louisiana LunaChicks, and more - bringing rhythm, movement, and Mardi Gras magic to the route. Get ready for a celebration rooted in inclusion, powered by community members, and filled with true Mardi Gras spirit. Krewe de Rivière is rolling, and everyone is invited to join the fun!

Krewe de Rivière Royalty Queen: Adrienne LaFrance-Wells is the force behind the energy and growth of

downtown West Monroe. As the West Monroe Main Street Director, she works through the Downtown West Monroe Revitalization Group and the City of West Monroe to bring new life to the historic district. Under her leadership, the number of downtown businesses has doubled, vacant buildings have been revitalized, and Alley Park has become a central gathering place for festivals, concerts, and community events. A passionate champion of local culture, Adrienne produces free programming that spotlights Louisiana music and creates opportunities for youth and underserved areas. One of her favorite projects is Ouachita Live, the free monthly outdoor concert series she helps fund and curate—bringing award-winning acts from across the country to downtown West Monroe. She also serves as a founder and secretary of the Ouachita River Blues Society, supporting blues heritage, education, and live music throughout the region. Mardi Gras runs deep in her family. Her mother was the first Krewe of Janus Queen, and her father served as the krewe’s fifth King. After years of organizing downtown festivities, Adrienne is excited to step into the spotlight herself as the 2026 Krewe de Rivière Queen.

Krewe of Janus | 2026 Forty-three years ago, the Krewe of Janus was founded by a group determined to bring fun and Carnival spirit to Northeast Louisiana. More than four decades later, they are still doing just that. Originally formed by the Twin Cities Jaycees - an organization already known for community service - the Krewe of Janus officially became its own independent group in 1989, dedicated to celebrating Carnival, strengthening community ties, and fostering fellowship. From extravagant costumes and eye-catching throws to lively music and stunning floats, the Krewe of Janus parade has become a cherished tradition. Since their inaugural parade in 1984, the event has grown to include local marching bands, more than 30 floats, and an estimated 1.5 million throws each year. The 2026 parade theme is “Throw Me Somethin’ Mister!”— a classic Mardi Gras call that sets the tone for a celebration filled with excitement, energy, and plenty of throws. Expect big personality, bold designs, and all the Carnival flair Monroe-West Monroe is known for. For the Krewe of Janus, Mardi Gras is truly a family tradition. With dedicated kid and teen floats, young parade lovers get the chance to experience the magic from the inside out - building lifelong memories and a deep love for the season. Each year, families pack the streets of Monroe-West Monroe to catch beads, cheer on the floats, and celebrate together. For 43 years, the Krewe of Janus has brought joy and Mardi Gras spirit to the Twin Cities and they’re far from finished. The beads will keep flying, the floats will keep rolling, and the Carnival fun will continue for generations to come.
