An Economic Powerhouse
Lloydminster has long been recognized as an economic powerhouse with strong ties to both the petroleum and agricultural sectors, and more. Did you know Lloydminster is one of the most entrepreneurial communities among mid-sized cities in Canada? So, what makes Lloydminster such a great place to start a business (other than lower business taxes and PST exemption) you might ask? Location. Location. Location.
Conveniently located between Edmonton and Saskatoon, Lloydminster has a trade area of approximately 130,000 to 150,000 people and is a regional service hub with a workforce of 70,000 within an hour's drive. Additionally, Lloydminster is well connected as it's located on the Trans Canada Highway intersecting with Highway 17. This is particularly important for businesses shipping and receiving goods. Oh, and the Lloydminster Airport is capable of landing a Boeing 737-200 and in 2018, Lloydminster welcomed WestJet as a regular service provider. Lloydminster is one of only five communities in Alberta with access to both Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) Rail. So, when we say we're in a great location to do business, we mean it!
