Jody Herbus Chamber PresidentCommunity, compassion, and camaraderie, that’s what you’ll find when you’re in the Border City.
Although the community is located on the border line of Alberta and Saskatchewan, (yes, some residents live in Alberta and across the street their neighbours reside in Saskatchewan) the differences do not divide. In fact, it’s these unique aspects that make Lloydminster unforgettable. The perfect blend of classic prairie, bustling business, and good, community spirit unite for the betterment of all. So, whether you’re visiting, recently moved, or have called Lloydminster home for decades, we’re happy you’re here.
Did you know Lloydminster is home to the world’s largest border markers? Erected in 1994, these monuments are exceptionally fitting given Lloydminster’s border status. There are four orange border markers located at the intersection of Highway 16 (Trans Canada Highway) and Highway 17, and each features a plentiful landing space perfect for photos! Each border marker represents a special theme: agriculture (a pillar industry), First Nations and Métis, oil and gas (another important industry), and the Barr Colonists. When you get up close, you’ll notice each border marker showcases a gap between the pillar. This symbolizes the actual border line. Take it from us, whether you’re here for a short visit or a longer stint, you’ll want to check out the border markers in person.
History tells the tale of a set of settlements once divided by a border line, eventually united as one. Over 115 years ago, in 1903, the settlement of Lloydminster was founded. Upon arriving from England in the springtime, the Barr Colonists made their home in the prairie area now known as Lloydminster. Their leader, Reverend George Exton Lloyd, was recognized for his role in leading the expedition by naming the new settlement “Lloydminster,”. “Lloyd,” was taken from the Reverend’s surname, and “minster” paid homage to the church. In 1905, the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan were established, and the borderline ran straight through the village of Lloydminster, essentially splitting it in two. In 1906, Lloydminster, Alberta, was declared a town, and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, was declared a village. The communities operated separately for decades, until the Great Fire of 1929 razed nearly everything to the ground. Amidst the smoldering ashes, a new Lloydminster emerged. On May 20, 1930, Lloydminster, Alberta and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, became one. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Bud Miller All Seasons Park is living proof that beauty can exist in the middle of a bustling community. Located on 59 Avenue, this oasis is a stone’s throw away from calm neighbourhoods, Lakeland College’s Lloydminster campus, and the Vic Juba Community Theatre.
Regardless of your age, there’s always fun. Come summertime, the outdoor spray park becomes a bustling site for kids (and kids at heart!). This site is open, easily accessible, and offers free outdoor fun for all ages. Fill-and-dump buckets, water sprayers, and waterfalls are surrounded by comfortable bench seating and grassy knolls. Pack a picnic, sunscreen, and a change of clothes, and you’ll be set for hours. If you prefer to enjoy the water in a controlled environment, we suggest Bioclean Aquatic Centre. As Lloydminster’s only indoor pool, this impressive facility spans over 33,000 square feet. For the energetic, there’s a 6-lane lap pool complete with diving board. Wander over to the wave pool for hours of fun with floating foam mats as you enjoy the waves! If speed’s your favourite, be sure to head up the stairs and cruise your way down the waterslide. Round out your trip with a relaxing soak in the hot tub or a soothing steam in the sauna. Regular swimming lessons (including baby, toddler, and pre-school) are offered in addition to swim club league training and meets. Connect with the City of Lloydminster regarding special events, lessons, and more.
If you've worked up an appetite after a swim session at the Bioclean Aquatic Centre, or you're just in the area, be sure to head to Sweet Tooth Café. Here you'll find a range of hot and cool treats and beverages sure to satisfy your cravings. In the summer, you can access this café from the outside too when they open up their exterior window, making it even easier to enjoy a bite of ice cream on a hot summer's day.
There’s nothing quite like the first spring-like day after a long, chilly winter. Lucky for Lloydminster, Bud Miller All Seasons Park is the perfect place to watch the seasons change. Here you can enjoy activity at any pace you choose. For the adventurous, be sure to take advantage of the newly accessible trails and pathways, perfect for running and cycling. Strollers and leashed pets are of course welcome! For those who favour biking, we suggest a jaunt to the pump track. You’ll rip and roar on tight little hills, which are perfect for trick riding. New for spring 2022 are the pickle ball and basketball courts. As soon as the weather warms up, be sure to grab your gear, a group of friends, and some cool water, and head out for hours of free enjoyment. Bud Miller is the perfect place to indulge in a long, comfortable walk around the lake, and you can choose your adventure based on a number of safe, well-lit paved pathways or wooded, intertwining trails for those seeking more connection with nature. Playground equipment abounds, leaving the little ones with so much to delight in. Pack the sidewalk chalk, a few games and balls, and let your creativity (and their energy) loose. Accessible restroom facilities and water fountains are available inside PSM Lawyers Park Centre and Bioclean Aquatic Centre.

As summer eases into fall, Bud Miller All Seasons Park turns into a ruby, gold, and crimson paradise. You’ll hear the geese honk overhead as they make their way south for the winter, and if you’re lucky, you’ll catch a waft of the crops as farmers bring in the season’s harvest. It’s autumn, and you’re going to want to enjoy its splendour in the great outdoors. Grab a group of friends and take in the last of a good outdoor game of football, soccer, baseball, or tennis. Leaf-covered pathways make for a satisfying crunch as you walk, run, or bike along the winding trail system. After you’ve enjoyed a sensational day in the elements, cap off your evening with a roaring fire and hot dog roast in one of the outdoor picnic shelters or firepits in the park. It’s easy to soak up the beautiful scenery when you’ve got Bud Miller right in the middle of the city!
When the temperature drops in Lloydminster, your activity level doesn’t need to. Bundle up against the chill then head out and explore the special beauty that only exists come freeze-up. Rambling hills make the perfect backdrop for hours of wintry fun with the kids; just grab your toboggans, some thermoses filled with hot chocolate, and enjoy hours of slipping and sliding down the slopes. If you prefer a calm, crisp walk in the snow, we suggest a stroll along the well-lit pathways in the park. Runners, sleighs, and fat bikes are welcome, and you’ll often see citizens enjoying a little exercise amidst the white and blue backdrop. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts are a common sight, and all levels of activity and skill are welcome to stretch their legs and rack up the miles.
As varied as they are important, Lloydminster is home to a number of unique industries perfectly suited for the geography, environment, and population of the Border City. The robust economic scene features a thriving agriculture sector, steady oil and gas activity, and an awardwinning and nationally recognized environment for entrepreneurship and education. When we say "Discover Lloydminster," we mean it!
If the pandemic has taught the world anything, perhaps it’s the importance of investing where you live. Here in Lloydminster, shopping local is easy. Home to a comprehensive range of retail, food and beverage, and entertainment and hospitality providers, there’s undoubtedly something for everyone. Did you know Lloydminster is consistently ranked as one of the most entrepreneur-friendly communities in Canada? A large catchment area (150, 000+ strong), youthful demographics (citizens’ average age is under 35 years), and committed levels of investment from all sectors makes the Border City an attractive place to start –(and continue) – a small business. In addition, e-commerce opportunities are close at hand, as Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce recently invested in an online selling platform specifically designed for small business owners. This opens entrepreneurs to a global marketplace, paving the pathway to success for all.
Learning opportunities abound when you’re in the Border City, as Lloydminster is home to a range of primary, postsecondary, and adult program offerings. Primary education begins in a number of pre-kindergarten options through private providers and the Lloydminster Catholic School Division. Soon after, kindergarten to grade 12 schooling is offered through Lloydminster Public and Catholic School Divisions and the French Ecoles Sans Frontieres. Next, post-secondary looms large. Whether you’re searching for certificate, diploma, or even degree options, Lakeland College is here. Boasting two campuses (Lloydminster and Vermilion, Alberta), Lakeland features on-campus residences, college-level sports programs, and adult learning opportunities through evening and online courses. Reeves Business College is another alternative and helps students learn at an accelerated pace in over 20 varied certificate and diploma programs. Be sure to check their respective websites for information regarding intake, tuition, scholarships, bursaries, and more.
Did you know that Lloydminster and area is home to a number of third and fourth-generation farms? This, coupled with the region’s continued investment into all things ag, means Lloydminster’s proud of its position as a strong prairie producer. In fact, Lloydminster and area is the second largest producer of alfalfa and the third largest producer of barley, oats, and mixed grains in the province. On the livestock side, almost 10% of all cattle raised in Alberta and Saskatchewan are raised within a 160 km radius of Lloydminster. Not only is the region rich with ranches and farms, it is also home to droves of cattle, horses, hogs, poultry, and more. There are also cereal and pulse crops stretching as far as the eye can see. The places, spaces, and faces of agriculture are rich in the region.
One of Lloydminster’s richest legends runs as deep as the oil it’s based on, and the star of the story is local farmer Charlie Marren. Well, scratch that, perhaps the cattle are the real stars here. As the story goes, Farmer Charlie led his cattle to water for a drink, and they impolitely refused! Charlie grabbed a sample, sent it for testing, and his suspicions were confirmed — there’s oil here! Fast forward to modern day, and the oil and gas industry remains a steady employer in the Midwest. Major companies like Cenovus (formerly Husky Energy), ATCO, and several large and mid-sized businesses continue to operate in the area that’s as good as gold. Black gold, that is.

Appetites are welcome in the Border City, where you’ll happily discover everything from western cuisine to international fare, coffee, cold drinks, and everything in between.
A city located smack dab in the middle of the Prairies may not be your first thought when you think of fresh, delicious sushi, but the Border City is here to surprise and delight! Centrally located, both Sushi Wa and Sushi Sora offer in-house dining, takeout, and party platters for your next get together. These locally owned and operated restaurants feature a delectable selection of classic and unique rolls, cones, nori, favourite starters, and desserts. Head south and visit the brand new Bamboo Sushi restaurant, located next to 4th Meridian Brewery. Guests will enjoy a full menu including poke bowls, nigiri, sashimi, specialty rolls, and more. Of course, Soleilki Asian Fusion, Touch of Asia Buffet, and Edo Japan are popular restaurants with diverse menus including sushi and additional western and Asian fare.
Craving something sweet?
Lloydminster is home to two bake shops: Hey Sugar! Bakeshop (located in lovely downtown Lloydminster) and On the Border Bake Shop (located in the west corridor). Each site is home to decadent cupcakes, tasty cookies, and fun add-ons (think: party candles, cards, and goodies). If you’re looking to order something extra special for your next event, connect with them directly for customized bakery items.

True happiness is right downtown.Sushi Sora Hey Sugar! Bakeshop
"Taking one for the team" means something different in the food industry, and here in Lloydminster the foodie crews are ready to serve. So, grab your players, coaches, and all their add-ons, because you’ve got meals to crush! First, we suggest Boston Pizza. This restaurant is a key spot for the sporty crews with space and accessibility for parties of 10 people or 50! For the older set, their fully licensed establishment offers full-sized pitchers of your favourite brew, perfect for toasting your big win. Be sure to call ahead if you’re bringing a crew for a meal (they appreciate the heads up)! If your games are hosted at Servus Sports Centre, you’re in luck, because Spiro’s is located just a stone’s throw away and can accommodate various sized groups with some notice. Their hot lasagna and garlic bread will satisfy even the hungriest of appetites. Of course, ordering off the broader menu is also encouraged. For those looking to treat their team to something cool and smooth after a great season, you’ve got plenty of options. Dairy Queen is centrally located and features ample indoor and outdoor seating, ideal for teams. Their range of Blizzards, sundaes, cakes, cones, and treats feature creative seasonal flavours certain to satisfy any palate. For a more customized touch, head to Marble Slab, nestled in Southridge Centre on Highway 17. You can take your pick from rotating flavours of ice cream, then select delicious toppings including crushed candies, cookies, chocolate, dried fruit, sauces, and more. Of course, several spots serve classic soft serve cones and slushies including Circle K, Lloydminster Co-op gas bars, 7-11, and Taco Time.
Whether your family is big or small, the Border City’s got options sure to put a smile on their faces. Great pizza can be found at Firecrust. Diners can customize their crust with sauces and toppings of their choosing. In fact, over 350 possible combinations can be made between pizzas, salads, and sides. If your dinner party includes kids (and kids at heart!), you’ll want to check out their sensational epic milkshakes. Additional pizzerias include Red Swan Pizza, Pizza Hut, and Canadian Pizza, all of which offer dine-in options. For those who want dinner to go, take a look at TJ’s Pizza, Panago, Domino’s, Pizza 73, Little Caesar’s, and Papa John’s. If you prefer lighter fare, head west to Freshii, stay central and visit Extreme Pita, or try locally-owned and operated Tasty K’s. You’ll be greeted by the smell of fresh, inhouse baked bread and buns, and the wafting scent of roasted donair meat. This small but mighty restaurant is a favourite amongst Border City residents, and for good reason. Their freshly assembled donairs, sandwiches, wraps, and subs can be made with fresh veggies, hot donair meat, and delectable cold salad mixes (seafood, egg salad, and tuna), and finished with sensational sauces (sweet, garlic, dill, and more). For a full list of family-friendly restaurants, check the section at the end of this article.
Amidst the challenges of the pandemic emerged stellar tastes and treats, and they’re yours to enjoy! First, head to Southridge Centre on 50 Ave, and visit Macao Imperial Tea. Guests are invited to enjoy the world of decadent beverages including milk tea, fruit tea, matcha, and more. Series hits include their cheesecake series (as delicious as it sounds), Cream Cheese Series, Black Sugar Series, Yakult Series, and Yogurt Series. At Katchi Café, you’ll delight in a range of specialty beverages including iced tea, caffeinated drinks, and milk tea. If you’re curious as to milk tea’s features, think of it like this: refreshing tea is mixed with smooth milk, ice, and chewy tapioca pearls (sometimes known as “boba” or “bubbles”) then shaken together. It’s served with a famously fat straw to accommodate the balls of tapioca that cluster at the bottom of the cup. Food wise, you’ll be intrigued by the range of flavours offered by Takoyaki Boy. Guests take away savoury goodness to enjoy in the comfort of their home. Just what is Takoyaki exactly? Essentially, Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made with wheat flour-based batter then cooked in a molded pan. They’re filled with everything from octopus to shrimp to crab (or Canadian options like sausage, cheese, and bacon), pickled ginger, green onion, cabbage, and carrots. Then, they’re fried and drizzled with Takoyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, then finished with roasted seaweed and dried bonito flakes. You can also enjoy a selection of noodles and rice dishes, dumplings, and specialty desserts. Connect with Takoyaki Boy through their social media platforms to find out when they’re on site so you can enjoy these delicious flavours for yourself! Rice Cravings is a relative newcomer to the foodie scene, serving up Filipino all-day breakfast cuisine. Located in Southridge Centre, it’s a stone’s throw away from Macao Imperial Tea. You’ll enjoy a combination of rice, meat (including pork, chicken, and beef), and fried eggs, prepared and served by local Filipino owners and their staff. Of course, classic Filipino desserts
like Halo-Halo Supreme, Saging Con Yelo, and Mais Con Yelo offer an authentic taste of the Philippines. For hours of operation, specials, and noteworthy menu items, check the listings section and be in touch with these local businesses.
If your idea of a fabulous weekend morning starts with coffee, waffles, and syrup, Lloydminster has plenty of beautiful brunch locations including The Diner (ask about their gluten-free options), Cora, Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Denny’s. Be sure to check out their menus for the little ones, as there’s often a special experience waiting.
Sometimes the tastiest meal is between bread, and lucky for you, Lloydminster’s filled with options to satisfy your appetite for carbs and fresh fillings! For a juicy, handmade burger, we suggest a visit to Servus Sports Centre. Yes, you read that right! Stubble Jumper’s Café is now located in the upper level of Servus Sports Centre, so you can enjoy them year-round. In their pop-up style restaurant, guests can enjoy classic fare like their Deluxe Burger, crispy fries and gravy, all day breakfast sandwich, and their signature dish: the Peanut Butter Burger. Franchise favourites in town include Burger King, Carl’s Junior, Fatburger, Arby’s, McDonald’s, and A&W, and more. If you favour a juicy pulled pork, savoury Salisbury steak, or homemade meatballs and gravy, head to the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds to the Nissan Exhibition Grill. Discover a weekly lunch buffet of rotating vegetables, buns, side dishes, and a fan favourite: fresh Alberta beef. They also feature fish and chip deals each week, and guests can enjoy their meal in person or to go. Visit them online to see what’s cookin’ at the Lloyd Ex this week! For those who prefer the stop, shop, and go, we suggest a visit to Lloydminster Co-op Marketplace. Head to the deli department and discover their rotating weekday lunch specials. Hearty brisket, hometown shepherd’s pie, crispy wings, pork bites (with Thai chili dipping sauce, please), potato wedges, and more complete their menu. If you’re craving something fresh, hit up the salad bar and top your veggies with a selection of protein such as hardboiled eggs, cheese, nuts, and shredded meat.
A taste of Lebanon can be discovered in Lloydminster at Cedar Kabob. This locally owned and operated eatery features donairs, kabobs, shawarma, plus a delicious array of dips (garlic, hummus, and baba ganoush), salads, and starters that’ll leave you craving more.

Sport enthusiasts, unite! When you’re in the Border City, you’re certain to find a game to enjoy — whether as a spectator or participant. Lloydminster and area is home to some of Canada’s most celebrated talent. In fact, Beckie Scott (Canada's more decorated cross-country ski racer) hails from Vegreville, AB, Braden Holtby (NHL goaltender) was raised in the region, and relative newcommers to the NHL, Kale Clague and Ty Smith, with the Montreal Canadians and New Jersey Devils, respectively, used to call Lloydminster home…to name only a few.
If you adore the feel of the sunshine on your face as you enjoy a cool beverage, may we suggest taking in a good ol’ ball game?
Lloydminster is home to a number of junior, men’s, and ladies' baseball, softball, and slo pitch teams that make it easy to root, root, root for the home team. For those who prefer the pace of the pitch, take a look at the list of soccer games hosted each fall by the Lakeland College Rustlers male and female teams. These elite athletes often battle at VLA Fields and are certain to impress with their talent and teamwork as they challenge other college level teams. Come springtime, head to the soccer fields to watch the kiddo and teens play while you take in some fresh air.
The Border City loves football, so here you’ll find passionate, dedicated fans for high school league play for both the Holy Rosary Raiders and Lloydminster Comprehensive High School Barons. These games are often loud, packed, and full of throngs of screaming fans, so come prepared with a thermos full of hot coffee and scarf around your neck for a cool autumn night to remember.
If the comfort of the great indoors is more your speed, you’re in for a treat. Volleyball, badminton, basketball, and futsal league games and tournaments often call Lloydminster home as we have a very sports orientated community. For water sports, Bioclean Aquatic Centre is the stage for swim meets, synchronized swimming competitions, and more. A relative newcomer to Lloydminster’s athletic landscape is cheer. Officially opened in November 2021, the brand-new Lloydminster Museum + Archives is an exciting addition to the arts and culture landscape in the Border City. The dedicated staff have developed a new, permanent gallery dedicated to the history of Lloydminster. Patrons can go back in time and journey into the region, and learn about the Indigenous people who lived on the land, the arrival of the Barr Colonists, and the signing of Treaty 6. Explore Lloydminster’s very first general store as you “shop” at the original store counter. Use your imagination to picture the sights and sounds of the vintage mercantile that sold everything from fabric and saddlery to flour, sugar, and tobacco. Part of the new Lloydminster Museum + Archives is a large gallery space where travelling exhibits from across Canada (and the world!) are showcased. Shows rotate on a regular basis, so be sure to call the Museum directly for up-to-date information on current exhibits and shows. In addition to these rich spaces, the Lloydminster Museum + Archives boasts a bright, open art studio and pottery studio complete with kiln room. You can get your hands dirty (literally) as you paint, draw, craft, weave, and mould to your heart’s content. Of course, a trip to Lloydminster Museum + Archives would not be complete without a moment back in time through the richness provided by the archival history of the community. You will be able to see photographs from as far back as Lloydminster’s founding, read snippets from newspapers of yore including the Lloydminster Times, search history books for details about family connections, and watch vintage footage of historic moments like the opening of Bud Miller All Seasons Park. You’ll also want to visit the gift shop
for a look at the wonderfully curated selection of giftables, postcards, and more as a memento of your time. For full details regarding rentals, classes, programming, travelling exhibits, and more, connect with Lloydminster Museum + Archives through their website or contact information in the listings section.
Each summer, LloydFest combines the best of local music, food, dance, and culture at a multi-day event designed to spotlight the diverse cultures that are part of the Border City. Connect with them online for more details on how you can be involved- whether as a spectator or part of the fun!
Located on the former Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre grounds, Weaver Heritage Park is a seasonal space available for self-guided tours in the months of July and August. Admission is by donation, so don your comfortable walking shoes, put on some sunscreen, and enjoy the adventure ahead. At Weaver Heritage Park, guests get a glimpse into Lloydminster’s history starting with Rendell House, which is recognized as the first timber framed residence in Lloydminster. Built in 1903 by William and Alice Rendell, it was restored in 2016 and represents the Rendell Homestead as it was in 1910. With advance notice, guests can request a guided tour with Lloydminster Museum + Archives.
Next, take a peek at the implements shed, and explore the working antique farm equipment and vehicles from the heritage collection. Many of the items as part of this display were part of building Lloydminster’s farming industry and were preserved and are maintained by volunteers through the work of the Barr Colony Heritage Society. As you continue, you’ll notice a splendid log cabin. This site was rehabilitated into a semi-outdoor classroom where the museum hosts field trips and seasonal programming. Weaver Heritage Park is a mustsee whether you’re a history buff or curious observer keen to learn more about Lloydminster’s rich history. For more information, including booking a tour for those with limited mobility, contact Lloydminster Museum + Archives.

Lloydminster’s often referenced as “the beautiful Border City,” and it doesn’t take long to discover why. From spring’s fresh start to summer’s full bloom, to unforgettable autumn and winter’s breathtaking beauty, there are places and spaces certain to delight as you take in the parks and recreation scene in Lloydminster.
Winter, spring, summer, and fall, Lloydminster’s got pathways, and you’ll enjoy them all! Whether running, cycling, walking, or pushing your little ones in their stroller or pulling in a wagon, there are many self-guided pathways in the Border City. Start at Bud Miller All Seasons Park where you’ll enjoy the splendour of treed paths as you listen to the wildlife (including birdsong) while you make a mile. Next, explore nearby neighbourhoods as you wind through houses and tucked-in-the-back trails. Sprinkled throughout Lloydminster, you’ll notice signage complete with trail length, distance, and directions. If you’re out adventuring with your fourlegged friend, remember to keep an eye out for doggie bag stations, just in case.
Whatever Mother Nature tosses Lloydminster’s way, residents can take comfort in knowing their next great swim is just around the corner at Bioclean Aquatic Centre. This is Lloydminster’s only indoor pool and it’s open year-round. This space features a giant wave pool, waterslide, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and lap pool complete with diving boards. Change rooms are completely accessible, with family options for those swimming with little ones or those who may need an extra hand. Bioclean Aquatic Centre offers swimming lessons, special programming (like toddler swim and aqua exercises), and fun events for children, teens, and families. Be sure to connect with them through the City of Lloydminster to find out what’s happening next at the pool.
Sometimes the best cure for what ails us is something as simple as a little movement, a slight sweat, engaging music, and a shift in our focus. Fortunately, when you’re in Lloydminster, spaces for active movement run aplenty. For those seeking some zen with a side of movement, check out one of Lloydminster’s many yoga studios. Oasis Hot Yoga & Spin Studio, Pure Vibes Studios Ltd, Yogaste Studio, Serenity Yoga Studio, and more provide in-person guided experiences for beginners, intermediate, and elite athletes alike. If lifting and floorwork is more your style, pack up your gym bag, shoes, and headphones, and head to one of Lloydminster’s many gyms. Motion Fitness, Fit 4 Less, Servus Sports Centre and Progressive Fitness are just a few of the places you can work out in the Border City. Each offer drop-in rates and guided classes, so whether you like a solo workout or group experience, you’re covered. While on the south side of town at Servus Sports Centre, be sure to check out the Agland Fitness Track. You’ll experience an indoor track ideal for walking, jogging, running, and strollers. Small, side of-track spaces are ideal for users to bump out and use for a quick side cross-training workout. For pricing, classes, and programming, connect with these groups through the contact information in the listings section.
In Lloydminster, you’re smack dab in the middle of a golfer’s paradise. Whatever the weather, there’s options for you to perfect your long and short game while enjoying a round solo or with friends. Come first sign of spring, the courses open, and you’ll be delighted with the options that await. Within city limits, you’ll enjoy Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre. Located on the north side of the city, this 18-hole course is immaculately groomed and offers private lessons, a pro shop, clubhouse (for an after-golf bite, naturally), and driving range. If you’re looking for a wee drive before your drive, we suggest a trip to Rolling Greens Golf Course and Fairways. Located just minutes west of Lloydminster, golfers enjoy 18 holes complete with scenery worth writing home about. Of course, their full-service clubhouse offers delicious food, cool beverages, and a confectionary to keep you fuelled for that second round. Come winter, Mother Nature’s got nothing on your short game. Locals love Lets Golf: a pristine indoor space with virtual reality simulation of the world’s best courses. This licensed establishment offers the opportunity for an evening of sport and fun. Last but not least, we can’t forget the kid in all

of us! Head to Bud Miller All Seasons Park for a one-of-a-kind experience at The Putting Zone, Lloydminster’s only outdoor mini-golf course. You’ll enjoy a wonderful experience as you take on fun challenges including bridges, ramps, swinging logs, funny animals, and more. For details on golf course opening days, season passes, tournaments, lessons, and more, check the listings section.
Calling all green thumbs! Does your ideal summer Saturday include warm earth, fresh leafy vegetables, fragrant flowers, and the sound of birds overhead? If so, you’re in for a real treat. Each spring, the City of Lloydminster offers a range of garden plots for rent to residents. For a small fee, you can plot and plant to your heart’s content. This space is pesticide-free, and gardeners have access to a water source. Located in beautiful Bud Miller All Seasons Park, you may desire to treat yourself to a frozen treat or cool beverage from the Sweet Tooth Café, located in Bioclean Aquatic Centre, when your work is done.
Did you know Lloydminster is home to over 35 parks? There’s a new park for every day of summer, or in the very least for every day in June (plus some)! With numbers like this, you’re certain to keep the little ones busy as they burn off some extra energy before naptime. For those who are looking for a quieter place to enjoy some tranquility, we suggest a visit to lovely Bud Miller All Seasons Park for a walk in nature. You’ll discover a stunning set of flower beds complete with annuals, perennials, flowering bushes, and more. If you’re an animal lover, we suggest bringing a pair of binoculars so you can keep watch on local birds, squirrels, and other tiny woodland creatures. Active lifestyles are celebrated in Lloydminster, so grab your water bottle, sports equipment, and best pals and head to one of the many ball diamonds, pitches, and courts. Relative newcomers to Bud Miller’s sports scene is the addition of four outdoor basketball courts and four outdoor pickleball courts. Baseball, soccer, volleyball, horse shoes, badminton, tennis, and more are yours to relish during the beautiful summer months.
When summer’s sweet temperatures start to rise, you’ll undoubtedly be looking for refreshing ways to cool down. Pack up your suits, goggles, towels, and some snacks, and head to the Lloydminster Outdoor Pool. This gem is nestled in the heart of a historic neighbourhood that’s as pretty as it is pristine. Kids (and kids at heart) love Lloydminster Outdoor Pool. This busy outdoor space features a twisty slide, toys and tubes, a shallow end for beginners, and deep end for more experienced swimmers. Adjacent to the Lloydminster Outdoor Pool is a tiny tot wading pool, perfect for the tiniest water enthusiasts, and a place where adults can watch from a safe distance as their little ones begin to interact with the fun world of water. Of course, you’ll be famished after a fun filled day, so be sure to stop for an ice cream at The Scoop — a local favourite that offers a variety of cool treats plus coffee and french fries.
If pools aren’t your style, but you’re still seeking relief from the heat, we suggest a visit to the spray park. Located in Bud Miller All Seasons Park, this space is typically open from June to early September and is an absolute hot spot. Kids of all ages enjoy the water features including fountains and sprayers and spend hours bouncing around burning off their energy. Situated near the PSM Lawyers Park Centre, the spray park is busy from sun up to sun down and offers a free, inclusive, and accessible way for families to cool down in the hot summer months.
If your friend is furry, has four-legs, and enjoys playing fetch, you’ll love Lloydminster’s dog park scene. The first off-leash dog park is located at 41 Street and 47 Avenue and spans over three acres of grassy, fenced area. This space features comfortable picnic tables so pet parents can enjoy a bit of relaxation as you visit with other guests or simply sit in peace as you watch your pooch play. Head North to 51 Avenue and 62 Street to the second off-leash dog park. This space is wide open, unfenced, and more suited to dogs with strong obedience skills. Grab a ball and some toys, a nice coffee, and pack up the pets for a wonderful afternoon. Of course, if you want to round out your dog’s exercise regime and give them a change of scenery, there are plenty of walking trails, pathways, neighbourhoods, and parks for their (and your) enjoyment.
Whether an experienced skater or new beginner, you’ll discover numerous ice surfaces here in Lloydminster. Start indoors at one of the many arenas; several offer public skating times throughout the week and into the evenings, so you can glide without the pressure of being on the clock. If you’ve got little ones in tow who are just beginning, we suggest a visit to the south side of the city to Servus Sports Centre. You’ll enjoy a safe, small indoor ice surface perfectly designed for tiny tots just learning to stand on their own two (bladed) feet. Skating supports are available, as are skate sharpening services from local providers. Once you’re a bit more confident, mosey outdoors to the speed skating oval. Locals love the pristine surface and often spend hours doing laps – both for exercise and for leisure. Of course, classic Bud Miller All Seasons Park is a wonderful option. Come winter, the lake turns into a winter wonderland. You’re certain to enjoy a leisurely skate, a pick-up game of shinny, or an exuberant game of tag with kids and kids at heart. In addition, there are several small manmade outdoor ice surfaces sprinkled throughout the Border City, including one at Rendell Park Elementary School.
Bundle up and venture out with the little thrill seekers in your life as you take advantage of the many sledding hills in our city. Jaycee Hill Park is known by locals for its speed and distance and is an absolute delight for people of all ages. Enjoying a blue sky day on the slopes is easy when you’re in Lloydminster. You might not naturally think of the prairies as home to great downhill skiing or snowboarding, but you’re about to be pleasantly surprised! Mount Joy is a fantastic volunteer-run hill that provides a pleasant outdoor experience. Table Mountain Regional Park regularly plays host to school trips which provide an opportunity for students to test their skills on the groomed runs and bush trails. Are you attending as a chaperone? Kick up your feet in the beautiful lodge and warm yourself with a hot chocolate. Watch their social media pages for updates and special events including tubing, lessons, Friday night skiing, and more.

For those seeking a more robust experience, a ways down the road is Table Mountain Regional Park. Their 45 acres includes a range of terrain from well-groomed runs to challenging moguls and a terrain park that’d fulfill the most passionate prairie snowboarder’s dreams. With their state-of-the-art snowmaking system, Table Mountain Regional Park is open for business from early December to late March each year. Keep in mind, they are located on the Saskatchewan side, and operate on Central Standard Time. If you’re keen on a night ride, you’re in luck. Fridays at Table Mountain are night rides, and they’re open until 9:30 pm. For each location be sure to check their social media pages before packing up and heading out. Temperatures can shift quickly in this area, and they’ll close their park in order to keep riders safe if the weather turns ugly.

As summer gives way for fall, Lloydminster and surrounding area is vibrant with unforgettable colour. Watch and listen as the geese begin to fly south for the winter and take the time to make a trek or two before the snow flies for another season. Head west to Vermilion, Alberta, and visit Vermilion Provincial Park. You’ll find plenty of outdoor activities perfectly designed to get your heartrate and endorphins up. Vermilion Provincial Park spans over nine miles along the south shore of the Vermilion River Valley. Visitors can bike, hike, run, kayak, canoe, and bird watch. Miles of winding trails offer varying levels of difficulty for cyclists and runners, and increasing elevation provides a thorough workout for beginner to intermediate hikers. For those who love the beauty of the open water, Vermilion River Valley is ideal for kayaking and canoeing, whether on a solo excursion or group venture. Be sure to check weather and water conditions before setting out. Bring your binoculars, pack a picnic lunch with hot coffee, and watch the autumnal beauty of the area unfold before your very eyes.
While you’re in Vermilion, plan to make a stop at Copper Cork Distillery. Started by four Alberta men who turned their passion into practice - literally! Copper Cork Distillery is a craft distillery featuring a tasting room, product sales, and more. Wet your whistle after a nice outdoor jaunt, or simply relax and enjoy their locally made gins, vodkas, cordials, and moonshines. Speaking of imbibing, if you’re itching for another adventure, head to Cold Lake, Alberta. You’ll enjoy the beauty of the – you guessed it – big, cold lake and will be
charmed by the community’s touristy vibe smack dab in the middle of the prairies. Each autumn, visitors and residents alike enjoy activities like touring CFB Cold Lake (their military bases and facilities), rambling in Cold Lake Provincial Park, exploring Janvier Gallery, or hitting the slots at Casino Dene. After a full day, make a stop at Cold Lake Brewing and Distilling Co. Guests can enjoy craft handmade spirits made from crystal clear Cold Lake water and can take in a stunning view from one of two outdoor patios, (one with gorgeous views of the Cold Lake Marina). Twenty-three rotating taps feature a variety of beverages to suit everyone’s taste, and beer and spirits are available for purchase. There are plenty of adventures to be had each autumn within driving distance of Lloydminster.

When you head north of Lloydminster, you’ll be in a watery wonderland as you explore Makwa Lake, Brightsand Lake, and Turtle Lake. Head south to discover Dillberry Lake Provincial Park, Macklin Lake (barely inside the Saskatchewan provincial border), and Manitou Lake. Smaller surrounding sites include Sandy Beach Regional Park (just minutes north of Lloydminster) and Silver Lake Regional Park (near Maidstone, SK). Permanent exhibits include the 100 Years of Saskatchewan History exhibit (an indoor experience so you can enjoy it every season) and Heritage Village (an expansive outdoor space spanning over 40 hectares featuring over 30 homes and businesses representing the boom years of the 1920s). Head north of Lloydminster to the community of Frenchman Butte, and take in the Frenchman Butte Heritage Museum. Your imagination will take you back
in time as you explore old time buildings, including the CN Caboose Gallery, Leer House (a family home originally built in 1928 and styled with original artifacts), blacksmith shop, machine shed, library, CNR station, and Big Hill School. Be sure to stop for a light bite at the Log Cabin Tea House before you make the trek back to the Border City. Open July and August, the Lashburn Centennial Museum is home to a veteran’s gallery featuring artifacts from the Boer War to present day. Additional displays include a General Store (staged as though it were 1906!), a furnished apartment, vintage hospital equipment, tools, trapper’s cabin, and blacksmith shop. Of course, Lloydminster Museum + Archives is located close to home sweet home. For details on this brand-new site, visit the Entertainment section in this guide.
When the days get longer and the sun warms the earth, you know spring is just around the corner. And with springtime comes several urges: to clean and declutter, to throw open the windows for a fresh breeze, and to hit the wide-open road! Head west to Kitscoty, Alberta and look through Farmstead Market and More. This locally owned and operated gem is a place where many vendors and producers unite to sell their goods. Items include foodie delights like special cultural dishes (potato lefse), local favourites (caesar mix by Lake Life Caesar Co., freshly pressed juice by KEM Juice Co., and Graze the 502 charcuterie boxes), and handmade home goods like wooden boards and platters, pottery, knitted items, soap, and everything in between. While you’re out in that neck of the woods, we suggest a visit to The Cheesiry. Visitors delight in the expertise of local farmer, Rhonda. With her trusty herd by her side, Rhonda handmakes raw milk, sheep cheese, and jersey cow cheese. The Cheesiry also offers grass-fed lamb (ask for availability), farm-grown cut flowers, and garlic. Trust us when we tell you you’ll absolutely adore the Pecorino and Garlic and Chive Fresco. While in the region, head north of Lloydminster to Acton’s Lower Shannon Farms. Nothing says local like a fifth-generation family farm producing pasture-raised meats, produce, artisanal preserves, farm-fresh eggs, and more. Make a day of it as you explore the grounds, take a tour of their greenhouse (call in advance to ensure availability), grab a selfie with their friendly animals (you’ve got to see their hilarious goats!), and browse their well-stocked store. The taste of farm-to-table will be yours to enjoy for days following and provides the perfect start to a memorable spring season.
