the lockdown has started to ease, it will be a while before the majority of arts and music venues, clubs and societies, start to reopen or restart. However, there are some local attractions to visit, and arts, music and theatre online.

Bourne Bridge Club

Bourne Bridge Club is currently closed until further notice due to the Covid-19 situation. However, online bridge is available to all using Bridge Base Online. Please check their website for further updates as the situation changes/ improves. www.bridgewebs.com/bourne.

Burghley House

The Garden of Surprises will be open, although there will be limited access to certain areas and no contact with water features. To maintain your safety, the children’s paddling area, maze and viewing mound will be closed. The Sculpture Garden will be fully open, including the new areas of herbaceous planting and a selection of new sculpture. The Garden Shed will be open, providing hot and cold drinks, ice creams and cakes. You are welcome to picnic in the Park or the Sculpture Garden but please take your litter home or to the nearest bin. The Garden Shop is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm (closed 1pm-2pm).

August 29th - Food markets with a difference!

Come and meet a large range of local suppliers in a celebration of local produce with handmade cheeses, organic vegetables, luxury sweet treats and rare breed meats at one of our seasonal Fine Food Markets. The market takes place in The Courtyard at Burghley House. Open 10am to 4pm. Free admission and free parking.

Easton Walled Gardens

July 22nd until the end of September - Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday. 10.30am - 4.00pm. For further details, visit www.visiteaston.co.uk.

Willoughby Memorial Trust Gallery Moreley’s Lane, Corby Glen, NG33 4NL

The Gallery re-opened on July 15th with appropriate safety measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. August 19th to September 16th - “So’Bosch,” an exhibition of contemporary ceramics and prints by Stamford-based artist, Soraya Smithson, which have been inspired by the 15th century painter, Hieronymus Bosch. She has been working on this body of work for several years now and some pieces have been shown in St. Ives, Cornwall, but this is the first time they will be displayed as a coherent group. 12noon – 5 pm. Stamford Arts Centre

Stamford and Grantham Guildhall Arts Centres now have their own YouTube channel so you can catch up on a variety of performances that were recorded during lockdown: they include Jazz, theatre, children’s theatre and workshop sessions. Just search for Stamford and Guildhall Arts Centres on YouTube. Shows are also available on Facebook www.facebook.com/stamfordarts.

Two of their online events for August are: -

● 6th - Music in Quiet Places from Bourne Abbey Church. An online concert with Freya Goldmark and Rueben Goldmark. Freya Goldmark, violinist and artistic director of Stamford International Music Festival, plays a wonderful selection of pieces for this very special online concert, recorded in the beautiful Bourne Abbey Church: 7-30pm. ● 29th - “The Anarchist’s Mobile Library” by Tessa Bide Productions: an exclusive online premiere for SKDC over the Bank Holiday weekend, (August 29th – 31st). ‘The Anarchist’s Mobile Library’ is an online family event which will take you on an incredible audio adventure that YOU choose, solving problems and meeting characters, all from your living room: 10.30am. @stamfordarts.
