This program is a must for anyone interested in volunteering during summer playground programs. Training includes material packet and 2022 recreation shirt. Please bring the park location (Hamlet, Hearthside, Peter Thompson or Pine Tree Valley) and shifts you would like to volunteer this summer to the training. Shifts are: 8:30-Noon or 12:30-4:00pm. Volunteers may schedule up to four shifts per week OR combine and do two whole days.

Join Cottage Grove and Woodbury Parks and Recreation as we partner to offer this annual event. From army crawls, slack lines, running ramps, net climbs, tire run, spider webs, rock walls, hanging noodle dash and dodging swinging balls in the forest-this experience has a new challenge at every corner.

The route will be staffed and marked to aid in a successful run. Racers will run in waves, completing 20+ obstacles through the Hamlet Park and ending with a dash through the MUD PIT.

Join Cottage Grove and Woodbury Parks and Recreation for an experience like no other! Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to find and safely return 30 plutonium rocks! Participants beware: the park area is home to many mad scientists who will try to prevent you and your friends from finding the plutonium. Prepare for a thrilling and exhausting chase with challenges along the way. Come dressed in your best zombie attire; but please make sure physical movement like running and climbing is possible. Participants will get instructions at 8pm. Event will consist of 3 chase rounds, 15 min each, and end at 9pm.

’t miss the Annual Strawberry Fest Race and Walk at Kingston Park.

The 5K race runners will be chip timed and race times will be posted onsite concluding the race and posted on our website, by age category, the following Monday (walkers will not be timed).

Medals will be awarded to the first place male and female in the following age categories: 25 and younger, ages 26-46, 47 and older. In an effort to reduce costs and make the race affordable to more; we are no longer doing t-shirts, all race participants will receive a carton of fresh strawberries upon completion of the race.

The Strawberry Fest 1K Race is for anyone 10 and younger. Recreation staff will line 2 soccer fields cheering runners on as they make 4 loops. Family and friends can also cheer from the sideline or run with them. The goal is to run and have fun! 1K runners receive a medal and a bottle of Strawberry Milk at the end of the race.

This camp is open to anyone interested in fishing, wanting to learn more about fish or those other tiny critters living in the pond. Participants will have the opportunity to fish for bass, crappie, bluegill, sunfish, and even the elusive walleye. Camp will focus on conservation techniques, proper handling and release of fish, and general fishing techniques. Participants should bring a backpack with a cold lunch and water bottle. We will take a break and have lunch at the park. All equipment will be provided. Feel free to bring your own pole if desired!

Did you know the city has a Kayak Rental program at Hazen P Mooers Lake?

Resources for information on how to rent a kayak, rules for renting and using kayaks, and current water levels and weather conditions are available on the cities website. Rentals include use of lifejackets.

Paddle at your own risk. Be vigilant of weather, water levels, and other environmental risks. For your safety, please do not paddle South East outside of Mooers Lake, outside of Baldwin Lake or through the bridge in Grey Cloud Channel. The main channel of the Mississippi can be dangerous and unpredictable.

This camp is great for beginners and those looking to learn the fundamental basics of the game. Sessions will focus on forehand, backhand, serving, and other techniques. Come have fun and get introduced to the life-long sport of tennis. Please provide your own racquet; we will have a few available for use if needed. Participants should wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle.

These sessions are certainly a favorite among all participants and fill quickly. Utilizing NASP curriculum, participants will learn new skills and create a lifetime hobby. Archers must wear tennis shoes, snug clothing around the chest and arms, and no jewelry. Long hair should be tied back. All equipment will be provided. Please bring a water bottle.

Prerequisite: Beginner Archery

This camp will expand on the lessons learned in Beginner Archery. Archer’s will test their skills at 25-30 yards on the upper range, shooting in an elevated/wooded setting. Archer’s will track their own scores, documenting their progression. Session 3 will include 3D archery targets. Session 4 will be a final, scored shooting competition to determine our archer champion.

The Cottage Grove Recreation, Police, and Fire Departments are teaming up to encourage youth safety. Safety Campers will learn by watching live demonstrations and presentations from top safety professionals.

Proposed sessions include: Regions EMS, Wash Co Mounted Patrol, CG K9, State Patrol Rollover Sim, Regions Burn Center, Wash Co 911 Dispatch, Kitchen Safety, Internet Safety, and Fire Dept Truck Ops.

What I need to bring: Each day a cold lunch in a disposable bag with my name and a water bottle and Wednesday, my bike including helmet.

Hamlet Park parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. Hamlet Park Parkrun is 5K and takes place every Saturday morning at 9:00am at Hamlet Park. Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Parkrun is free and you only need to register once whether walking, jogging, running, volunteering or a combination.

After stretching and warming up our bodies, we will have fun trying the long jump, hurdles, throwing balls, high jump, and finish with an Olympics. All of the equipment will be provided. Parents are required to stay.

Looking for a place to do projects and get messy? Without the clean up? We have a great 3 day program just for you. Each day will include a paint project, Playdough time and a science experiment. Recreation staff will provide all the setup, project supplies and clean up. Parents are required to stay.

TENNIS LESSONS FOR LITTLES

Lessons are structured so that participants can learn the skills of tennis and play games while learning techniques. lessons are a great way to get introduced to the life-long sport of tennis while having fun. All of the equipment will be provided. Parents are required to stay.
