OUR WINTER WONDERLAND

Winter in Charlottetown is anything but boring. In fact, it has its own unique charm and offers a number of magical ways to experience the city in a cozier fashion. Decked out in its sparkling best, Charlottetown is a captivating place to visit and offers plenty of winter activities and events that will have the whole family excited to come back each year.

CHARLOTTETOWN CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL - This annual celebration (Nov 17 - Jan 2) transforms historic downtown Charlottetown into a storybook Christmas setting filled with holiday traditions for all ages. Enjoy the enchanting open-air Victorian Christmas Market (Nov 24 - 26), rated among the top 50 Christmas Markets in the World, Founders' Deck The Hall Series, visits from Santa, the Charlottetown Christmas Parade and tree lighting, Whoville-inspired decor, classic Christmas movies, horsedrawn carriage rides, carollers, live music, and more!

EPIC DINING - A number of unique outdoor dining options have begun popping up in the city: Snow Pods, clusters of red Adirondack chairs, cozy fire pits, Sugar Shacks, and more. Experience Downtown Charlottetown's food festival, WinterDine (late-Jan to mid-Feb), which features various participating restaurants offering curated 3-course feasts inspired by local ingredients. Cozy up in a booth with your favourite people for an evening of live acoustic music and creative cocktails in one of the many charming pubs or lounges located throughout the city.

FLOW IN THE SNOW - A weekend tradition done right. Flow in the Snow takes place every Saturday & Sunday (Jan to March) outside at Confederation Landing. The outdoor movement series has become a favourite annual event and is the perfect way to warm up from the inside out while working out those winter kinks. It’s free and all abilities are welcome to participate.

BOOST YOUR ENDORPHINS - Grab your skates and hit one of the city’s outdoor skating rinks, such as the artificial one at Founders’ Hall Green Space. Get a workout in and do some sightseeing at the same time while cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or fat biking. Within city limits, Victoria Park, the Confederation Trail, and the Acadian Forest offer groomed trails that are perfect for all. Or head out to Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park where you can rent a variety of outdoor equipment and enjoy gorgeous trails that take you through peaceful forests and fields.

SNOWSHOES IN THE CITY - Enjoy a unique winter experience with Snowshoes in the City. Book your stay with a participating accommodation and borrow complimentary snowshoes for a winter adventure. The City of Charlottetown and the Charlottetown Library Learning Centre also offer free rentals during opening hours. Whether you're after forest walks, beautiful coastlines or something in between, the Island is well loved for its variety of trails.

JACK FROST WINTERFEST + ICE CITY FESTIVAL -

Although Jack Frost Winterfest went into hibernation over the last couple of years, its distant cousin, Ice City Festival, was born. Decking the streets in art installations and other wintery decor, the event features Sugar Shacks on outdoor patios, horse & wagon rides, Disco Skating, Snowshoes After Dark, fat biking lessons, DJs, kitchen parties, drag brunches, children’s entertainment, outdoor fitness, and more. Jack Frost is slated to return in 2024.
