Mobile Access Platforms
Mobile Access Plaform (MAP)
Typically seen at household waste & recycling centres, a Mobile Access Platform allows people to safely throw their refuse into containers while allowing operatives to move the steps easily from one container to another as they fill up.
It’s not just recycling centres that can benefit from a Mobile Access Platform. They can be built to any size so are ideal for providing flexible cleaning or maintenance access to boats, machinery, lighting, ventilation systems or windows. Wheels are braked so while they’re in use they won’t move around.
GRP is much lighter than the steel equivalents, making the MAPs easier to manoeuvre while maintaining strength. It’s also anti-slip – even when wet, impactresistant and won’t rust, so will last longer with little to no maintenance. All the materials used are self coloured and UV-stable so won’t chip or fade.
It’s also much quieter to walk on too, helping to reduce noise on site.
DeckSafe’s Mobile Access Platforms (MAPs) are: Designed to BS standards with 5kn/m2 loading
Braked wheels hold them in position while in use
• GRP Grating and Stair Nosing remains anti-slip even when wet or oily
Non-corrosive, non-conductive and long-lasting Lightweight, making them easy to manoeuvre into position
Allows safe access for cleaners, engineers and pedestrians
• Easy to install and modular in design – can be supplied as full fabrication or in modules
Bespoke designs can include anti-climb mesh and safety gates

Maintenance Platforms
Whether you need to reach the top of a storage tank, or the top of a truck or simply need to reach a machine access hatch or panel to work comfortably and safely our designers will create a solution that meets all your requirements.

From hi-vis solid top fibreglass panels allowing wheeled and foot traffic to move easily into position, to raised open mesh gantries that allow maintenance workers to simply walk over pipes rather than between them, For multi-floor machinery or control panels and maintenance hatches that are installed in hard-toreach places, gaining access safely can be a challenge. We can design, supply and install a wide variety of GRP Stairs, Gantries and Access Platforms, ranging in size from simple threshold steps to more intricate high-level platforms that ensure operational and maintenance crews remain safe at all times.
We incorporate Tread Grating in the design of all our fibreglass Stairs and Access platforms. This stair tread is manufactured from 38mm thick grating with an integral solid reinforced nosing for optimal slip resistance.
Our inhouse designers can create solutions that will meet all your safety and access requirements and our fabricators build everything at our headquarters.

Maintenance Platforms
GRP Fabrications don’t usually need heavy lifting equipment to manoeuvre into position so are quicker and more economical to install.

Rooftop Access
Rooftop Access
From building a Staircase to reach the roof, to adding Platforms, Gantries and Walkways that smooth the surface allowing maintenance teams to navigate safely, roof-top access can be as simple as adding a Hop Over or as extensive as resurfacing the whole area. The DeckSafe Solutions team can help you assess how much or how little is required to assure HVAC engineers safety and allowing easy access to the control units, ducting and vents on your building.

All our stairs and platforms are constructed using QuartzGrip® anti-slip GRP grating with edges highlighted with hi-vis yellow nosing to help reduce trips and falls. Platforms and steps more than 400m high are fitted with handrailing, and self-closing gates can be installed where necessary. Glass reinforced plastic is a fraction of the weight of steel equivalents making it an obvious choice for roof installations. It's also easier to handle, reducing the need for lifting equipment and quicker to install.

Once in place GRP Grating and Structural GRP Profiles are long-lasting and require little to no maintenance. They are UV stable and non-corrosive so won’t fade or rust.

Oil Tanker Walkways

After working closely with our client Barr and Wray for 13 months, DeckSafe Solutions was contracted to design a Raised GRP Walkway on board the deck of an oil tanker being refitted in Scotland. The new layout of services left the deck heavily populated with no safe walking routes or maintenance accessibility.

DeckSafe’s collaborated design provides the safe walking routes for crew members in the most hazardous weather environments. Considerably reducing injury from slips, trips and falls, the maintenance walkways will also ensure M&E services are not damaged by occupants clambering over pipes and conduits.
The substructure boasts a subframe and handrailing system that is both non-corrosive, non-conductive, fire resistant and anti-sparking which is ideal for international sea bearing vessels such as this. The meshed floor panels are also designed in GRP Open Mesh Anti-Slip Grating with DDA and Equality Act Compliant Nosing’s, which hosts the highest anti-slip certification available in the BS and EN standards.
