Variations of the basic lnst-O -Matic design are also available to meet a more specific requirement The Wigg111s 6000 Series Inst-O-Matic 1s a quick connect, quick disconnect, light weight self-sealing fluid connector of aircraft quality. It features the unique dog latching design which provides a positive connection and prevents brinelling of nipple, and also an en ry seal which prevents external leakage during connection. InstO-Mahc is double sealed for Zero- eakage.

The Wiggins 30 A Series Connect-O-Matic Coupling is a quick disconnect, quick connect type connector suitable for a wide variety of fluid applications. It features the unique Wiggins dog latching design which provides a positive, dependable connection without "brinelling" of the nipple.

Connect-O-Matic operation allows a simple push to conned, and a straight pull on the actuating ring to disconnect, one single, simple motion. No twisting , no separate movement required to lock or unlock the latch mechanism .

Flush Valving provides a m1rumum of spillage during disconnection plus positive sealing of both halves when disconnected. Mini mum air inclusion during connection is an added feature of flush valves.

Pressure Drop is kept to a low value with smooth , open flow passages when coupling halves are connected.

Burst Pressures are tabulated on Page 2 ±or use in coupling selection. Maximum allowable operating pressure depends on type of service, safety factor and other operating criteria.

Seals are all standard a-ring sizes. The standard synthetic rubber seal material may be used with most common fluids. Various other seal materials are also available on order for compatibility with special requirements.

A Relief Valve is available on order as part of the standard valving to provide for thermal relief when disconnected. This eliminates the need for a special bleed valve or thermal relief valve in the system.

"WF" SERIES INST-0-MATIC COUPLING

WlF8 Pressure servicing of jet engine oil tanks became necessary with Century Series aircraft both for reduced turn around time and because tanks were buried within structure for aerodynamic reasons.

The Wiggins WlF8 and W4Fl2 series were designed specifically for pressure servicing, adapting the proven Wiggins dog latch to the design specified by Military Standard 24476. The nozzle (socket) and adapter (nipple) are q ualified in accordance with Military Specification MIL-N25677 (USAF) and MIL-A-25676 (USAF) respectively.

OPERATION To connect puU nozzle (socket) actuating ring back and push nozzle onto adapter

(nipple). Release actuating ring after initial insertion and hear the actuating ring snap forward when the dogs drop into the groove.

No twisting required To disconnect pull on actuating ring No twist requ1red.

The WlF8 is the ½" series for pressure servicing of the oil tank while the W4Fl2 is the ¾" series for overflow return indication.

A complete·senes of pressure caps and dust caps and plugs are included.

NOZZLE ADAPTERS (REF. MIL-T-38266A PARA. 3.8) Certain aircraft have standard Wiggins Inst-O-Matic nipples (adapters) installed for oil servicing and cannot be serviced with the QPL Military Standard assemblies.

Specifications MIL-T-38266A for the PMU- 29/ E tank and pump unit provides for special adapters to allow servicing for all jet aircraft. These adapters are supplied by Wiggins and are described below.
