2021 School leaders
Charlotte Hulme has made the most of every opportunity at Dio. She is an accomplished runner who won team gold at the 2019 Cross Country Nationals, and also does dragon boating, netball, tennis and, until recently, football.
Academically Charlotte has excelled, receiving three board scholarships, Academic Honours (2017, 2018, 2020) and High Distinction in 2019. Last year she won a NZ Bright Education Trust Scholarship and travelled to China to study Chinese. In Year 10, Charlotte won the Heritage Foundation CJ Tunks Memorial Award for General Excellence.
She has been an avid member of schoolwide committees and the Community Service Council, and a volunteer after-school tutor at Tuakana Teina in the Junior School. Outside of school, Charlotte volunteers for the Cancer Society and SPCA. She is about to complete her gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Charlotte is honoured and excited to be Diocesan’s Head Prefect for 2021.
Phebe Mason’s extracurricular involvement at Diocesan includes lacrosse, debating, the Literature Club, several committees, the Community Service Council and volunteering as a chapel server.
Performing arts is Phebe’s passion and she has won numerous awards at the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand National Festival and One Act Play Festival. She was part of the 2018 and 2019 National Theatre Connections Company in London, and represented Diocesan at the International Festival of Theatre in 2019.
Phebe was a cast member in Beauty in the Beast, she has competed in the Senior Aria Competition and is in the Senior Choir and St Cecilia Singers. She is also a silver scholar who received Academic High Distinction and the Angela Edgington Cup for Excellence in Historical Research Level 3. In 2019, Phebe won the Mary Pulling Award for her contribution to the School.
Phebe was a member of the Young Enterprise business ‘Period’ that created wallets out of 100% repurposed sanitary pad wrappers and donated sanitary products to women in need. At the Auckland Central regionals for the Young Enterprise Scheme, Period came third and Phebe won Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
