National Theatrefest success

Agnes of God

Huge congratulations to the more 100 students who took part in the 2019 Auckland Theatrefest, hosted at Dio in association with Theatre New Zealand. Over four days the girls presented work to adjudicator Hilary Norris. Hilary is an experienced actor, director and teacher, with a speciality in voice and communication skills. This was a valuable learning opportunity for the students to receive critique from a seasoned theatre professional.

The varied programme included new writing Ahakoa he iti he pounamu (Although it is small it is a treasure), which will be performed in the United Kingdom in July as part of the Ayr International Theatre Festival; and Sad Club, which was presented in conjunction with the National Connections Festival London. Emily Clelland directed her second entry in the Festival, having won Best Director last year at the National Festival in Wellington, and again received recognition for her play Chaos. The groups chosen to represent Auckland will perform again, hoping for a place in the national final in Wellington in September.
