EDUCATIONAL RETREAT

PROJECT LOCATION : Kerala, India PROJECT TYPOLOGY : Educational institute & Research centre. Research,Concept Work,Final Drawings ROLE : SEMESTER : 10(Bachelors of architecture) DATE : November - April (6 months) INSTRUCTOR : AR. Swati Ray Nature and the environment provide essential goods and services for human development. Humans have been interacting with their environment ever since their birth. Although we realize the interdependence of the two factors that is environment and human, our poorly conceived urban life style divides us from our wilds and has contributed to seeing nature as something isolated from us. Creating a centre that professes the symbiotic relationship between tourists and local communities which makes people aware about the natural eco-systems and in turn educates people about conserving and propagating forest lands. The centre also uplifts the community financially and creates a vital importance socially.

MASS HOUSING PROJECT LOCATION : Navi-Mumbai PROJECT TYPOLOGY : High Density Development Research, Concept Work, Final Drawings ROLE : SEMESTER : 9 (Bachelors of architecture at ASU) DATE : 6 months, 2021 INSTRUCTOR : AR. Urvashi Purohit Understanding the neccesity and complex challenges associated with the creation of affordable urban housing. Also, to explore the unique character that derives from the various social economic and contextual forces that shape the urban society of India. The aim is to understand the typologies of housing in urban areas, quantitative aspects of mass housing and lastly user aspirations and affordability.

MASS HOUSING 13

The middle income group has been given a common RG space in between to continue visual and practical interactions and at the same time avoiding overlooking into other house by provinding minimum distance between housing blocks.

LIG users usually prefer walking and visiting the market and since the users have to commute for their work and since this housing has maximum number of users hence it is given close-by road access which makes it easier for them.

Shared apartments tend to have a set of temporary users from time to time, the users might or might not be new to the city and hence making road access more convinient from them. The buildings are placed here for them to merge with the exisitng context. It also has easay access to the kitchen and mess areas.

Privacy is the main concern here and hence a separate green space is provided, the entry to house have been provided inward looking where the windows have an overlooking green space providing vistas to each house.

A shop front belt is provided facing the road as this can create easy access for all the outside users. Various amentities such as library, co-working spaces and kindergarten school apart from that their are many shops - medical, salon, laundary area, general stores etc.

The comerical area has a huge facility for the outsiders as well as the people residing in the building such as mall, parking area and club house which has a swimming pool, library, common hall etc. This commercail belt adds to the benefit of not only the housing colony but also other residents residing in the vicinity and the commuters passing thrugh the adjacent highway.

HIG Block having a road vista and green open spaces on both the sides of the building and having community space on the first floor for interactive sessions gave this privacy and at the same time gave value to culture.
