Visit Spalding

There’s more to Spalding than tulips but it certainly has some fabulous gardens and acres of attractions well worth a family day out. Whether it’s a relaxing trip down the river, a walk around vibrant gardens, some retail therapy or keeping the kids active, there’s so much choice. From history and heritage to animal encounters you can easily spend a day, in and around Spalding.

Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens

This is the perfect time for a stroll around some wonderful gardens which are open from dawn until dusk. The 5 acres of Ayscoughfee Gardens beautifully complement historic Ayscoughfee Hall Museum, and feature a Yew Tree walk dating back to the 1720s. There’s an Ornamental Lake, children’s play area and a Peace Garden on a more contemporary theme.

Spalding Water Taxi

To really feel like you’re getting away from it all we can recommend the hourly, 40 minute Spalding Water Taxi river cruise. This is a tranquil trip with the chance to spot plenty of birds and wildlife during your gentle journey through the countryside. Linking Springfields Outlet Shopping & Festival Gardens to Spalding town centre it’s a great way to experience both and a return fare is just £7 or £10 for a family ticket.

Spalding Fun Farm

The Fun Farm is a venue where the children can burn off some energy whatever their age. There are soft play areas for both under 4s and babies under 18 months while children up to 12 years can safely explore a three-storey soft play structure packed with exciting activities. For older children there’s a Laser Storm gaming arena and the Fun Farm High Ropes is an outdoor course on two levels offering lots of fun and exciting challenges for both children and adults.

Springfields Adventure Land

If you’re looking for something different to entertain the kids why not put them to work at Adventure Land. Located at the rear of Springfields it includes the UK’s largest JCB Young Drivers Zone, giving children an exciting opportunity to drive around in bright yellow mini diggers. They can use up some energy on the huge JCB slide and scaffold themed climbing frame and use their imagination on loads more unique interactive play equipment. Families can walk through the trees at the new Tree Top Village which has seven wooden towers and a huge suspended net. There’s also a sand play area and rockpool water stream all covered by a large canopy so the weather doesn’t stop the fun. Then there’s the Dino Golf, with dinosaurs peering around every corner, and a chance to pan for gold at Goldie’s Gold Mine or ride the miniature railway through the woodland. When they’ve worked up an appetite you can all refuel at Springy’s Diner with burgers and shakes.

Springfields Festival Gardens

This is a beautifully landscaped area open all year round but looks particularly good at the moment. The gardens were completely redeveloped in 2004 and are free to view. There are Chelsea-style celebrity showcase gardens, including designs by Charlie Dimmock, Chris Beardshaw, Kim Wilde and Steven Woodhams, and a spectacular Japanese Garden by Sansui Design as well as a collection of Stephen Newby stainless steel sculptures.
