MAXIMIZING ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Harnessing otherwise wasted electrical energy is crucial for reducingcostsandenhancingsustainabilityinbusinesses Power and Energy Loggers, such as the PEL103 play a vital role by monitoring and analysing energy usage to identify inefficiencies, optimize consumption, and prevent malfunctions These tools enable businesses to implement cost-saving measures, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and comply with energy regulations By reviewing and acting on these insights, companies can achieve significant financial and environmental benefits, making operations more efficient and sustainable Inefficiency can stem from outdated equipment, poor maintenance, and suboptimal usage patterns Left unchecked, electrical waste energy contributestohigherelectricitybillsandalargercarbonfootprint.

A BRIGHT OPPORTUNITY

THE BRIGHT FUTURE OF PHOTOVOLTAIC

The sun has powered life on Earth for millennia, and now it's lighting up the industry. Installing PV systems can save homeowners up to £300 annually, with costs dropping 70% over the past decade. Beyond savings, it's about pride in sustainable, homegrown energy. It’s dawning on people that now is the time to invest in PV. Even though Installing PV panels requires some specialised training (that’s where you come in), maintenance couldn’t be simpler, so plenty of new customers are seeing the bright side in hopes of a greener future. Panels are more efficient than ever and now even the ugly aesthetic could be a thing of the past... Heard of these “Solar Skins”?

Now don’t be fooled like most, Solar Skins aren’t going to be transparent solar panels they simply add a thin ‘skin’ that still allows the light through whilst allowing for a digital overlay to mimic your roof, or other materials present in the clients home exterior. At roughly 10% more than traditional solar panels they could quickly become a gimmick before they even take off.

Another interesting topic in PV worth mentioning is “Floatovoltaics” which I’m sure you can probably guess is when you put a solar panel on a body of water. Designed to float on reservoirs and dams, the first commercial 175 kWH floating panel system could be installed on any large lake in the UK. The water the system floats on also helps cool the entire system, allowing for up to 10% more efficiency The Floating panels also prevent certain algae from forming, decreasing water treatment costs along with blocking unnecessary evaporation.

PV Fabric is also set to shake things up, from clothing that charges your devices to tents and awnings that provide both shade and electricity. By weaving PV fibres into fabric, it creates lightweight, portable power sources that remain durable and flexible The sky is the limit when it comes to these PV materials.

Safety isn’t a suggestion, following the correct isolation procedure prevents severe injuries, read this quick guide to strengthen your knowledge

Let’s face it, as obvious as it might seem to protect yourself and those around you from any risk, safe isolation is neglected more often than we like to admit Which is why we preach about a consistent lockout-tagout practice before any type of installation

MITIGATE THE RISKS ENTIRELY WITH THESE STEPS

Assessment: Before commencing any work on electrical installations, conduct a risk assessment Identify potential hazards, assess the voltage levels involved, coordinate with supervisors and the client, obtain t correct permits, and don’t forget to communicate the planned wo

Lockout: Switch off the main power supply and implement lockou procedures to prevent accidental re-energization Reference yours date, and indicate that the circuit must not be re-energized until t and tags are removed by authorized personnel using a large “DO OPERATE” warning sign

Verify: Before starting work, it is essential to verify the absence of v using an appropriate testing device Test each conductor to confi there is no voltage present and reconfirm periodically throughou duration of the work
