Yangzi Wang Works… Her current project, The Future of Tradition, aims to combine the traditional Chinese hand-woven technique together with the characteristic carpentry skill for creating a new look of handicraft and thereby, exploring the future possibility of traditional handicraft.
About… Yangzi is a surface textile and new material designer. She is currently finishing her MA in Textile/Material Futures at Central Saint Martins. Two years ago, she graduated with a BA in Textile Design from the same college, specializing in weaving and printing. Three years of professional weaving experience has facilitated a profound interest in fabric creation and innovation. Yangzi positions herself as a textile artist who uses materials to communicate with people and express ideas. This year, Yangzi has started her own design studio in Hangzhou China, for the purpose of teaching, experimentation, and technical exchange, as well as design project collaboration.
