Star ting in 1992, Tim DeJong the owner and creative force of the Wimberley Glassworks has amazed both Wimberley residents and visitors alike with unique pieces of glass ar t and lighting. “Live here, create here, inspired here,” as Tim puts it, the Hill Country and the beautiful scenery never stops encouraging him and the creation of new ar t. Creating hand blown glass is an art form that is over 2000 years old, and has a connection with history. At the glassworks, product is not just made; it is a deeply creative process, with
the same “creative force in every single piece that’s made.” Since 2006, they are located on 6ERGL 6SEH NYWX TEWX XLI .YRGXMSR on the way to San Marcos. The showroom itself is dazzling with an array of different colors, shapes and pieces on display. Whether it is a chandelier, wall sculpture, vase or just a drinking glass, the workmanship and passion is evident in each. the works. Not just local ar tists, pieces are commissioned from across the U.S., both residential and commercial. Vases, sculptures, platters, home décor and gifts are available for purchase and include both indoor and outdoor glass art. Daily free demonstrations take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. They are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Easter. “The demonstrations are
fun, because we have fun,” according to Tim. “People retain a lot more if they laugh.” Each individual piece is carefully hand blown and crafted one by one making each truly unique. The Wimberley Glassworks also offers special events throughout the year. Check their website for up to date information on their happenings at: www.wimberleyglass.wordpress.com. “I love it here as it offers the passion, inspiration and love and we put it into every piece we make,” says Tim.

Looking to start a new venture, they fell in love with the Hill Country, Wimberley in par ticular. They decided to pursue their love for Belgian style beers, which they obtained in their many travels to Belgium. They serve all their beers “Belgian-style, that is in a chilled glass made for that particular beer, a little foam, and with the label facing the patron. “We intend to honor that tradition that it is
