I recently attended a special service at Worship Tabernacle with Pastor Roy Chapman. I was sitting there enjoying the presence of God as Pastor Chapman was ministering to those that came forward for healing prayer. I picked up a brochure in the pew that had a picture of a wall and was labeled The Supernatural Oil. I looked to my right and realized I was sitting by that very wall and I could see the oil on it. I read the brochure and talked to the Pastor and his wife and one of the members and here is the story. In 2001, the church received a call from a lady named Connie Wilson while she was in Israel. She prophesied that oil would appear and rise up the wall and when it reached the ceiling, a spark from Heaven would ignite the oil and revival would break out at Worship Tabernacle. It didn’t happen right away so it was soon in the back of everyone’s mind and forgotten. Three or four years later the oil did appear on the wall and they thought they had a water leak so someone was hired to check it out but there was no leak. When it started going up the wall different cleaning agents were tried to no avail. Then one of the leaders in the church said “wait a minute’ and recalled the prophecy. The oil reached the top of the ceiling in 2016 and the church has been experiencing an increase in answered prayers and miracles. Last night I attended Prayer and Praise on Main St. in Humble and I observed…. Catholic, Methodist, Inter-Denominational, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, Baptist, Assembly of God and NonDenominational Pentecostals worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit was present in the worship and I know God was pleased. Though believers in Christ have differing perspectives, values, gifts, passions, and personalities; God has called us to be unified in the faith. John 17:21 Jesus speaking. “That they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. This is a season for thanksgiving and honor with Easter, Graduations of our young people and celebrating Mother’s Day. What better way to honor our families than by attending Church and praying for not only our families and our brothers and sisters in Christ but our nation.

I know you must be thinking- floral arrangements and hormones? This is really odd- but think about it. If you are trying to arrange flowers- the heights have to be cut so that the arrangement is balanced, the different flowers in the arrangement have to be distributed throughout the vase, and you will make your flowers last longer in the vase if you have cut them straight on with a sharp knife (rather than scissors as that may crush the stem some) and cut them under warm water and then put them promptly into the vase of warm water and the floral preservative powder already mixed into the vase water. So hormones are just as complex. The thyroid has a significant part in helping manage your metabolism and also insulin levels. If you are a woman your progesterone and estrogen have to be balanced for women to have regular cycles, be able to conceive and to be free from menopausal symptoms. But in this article I will focus on testosterone. It’s a red rose amongst other flowers that most people have never thought of. Testosterone is often considered the male hormone, the muscle building, possibly aggressive making, and masculine hormone. Now that is true to some extent, as healthy men normally have 10 times the levels of women at (800 ng/dl) plus, with women needing levels 7080 (ng/dl) for feeling healthy and vibrant. Low testosterone in both women and men is very common and detrimental to our well being and overall health. The symptoms of low testosterone: low libido, fatigue, depression/anxiety/mood swings, sleep disturbance/night sweats, difficulty reaching climax, weight gain through the middle

(“spare tire”), dry and lax skin including dryness for females in the genital area, poor energy and loss of muscle mass. More importantly, low testosterone levels have been associated with prostate cancer, elevated cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. Now the question comes, “How do I know if my levels are a problem?” Well you need to get your levels checked. That requires blood work for evaluation. Do not just check one hormone though- it is several hormones, including thyroid, and vitamin levels (consider that the floral preservative in the vase water). Your electrolytes, liver tests, cholesterol, blood sugar and blood counts need to be checked if they have not been recently (consider that the warm water the flowers are drinking from- is it healthy water or not?). If your levels are abnormal then a consultation with a provider who specializes in hormones is recommended. I also strongly recommend that the provider only uses bioidentical hormones (the exact same chemical make-up as what your body should be making) and that you aren’t given them orally. Synthetic hormones are associated with an increased risk for cancers; bio-identical hormones have not been shown to cause this. In addition, it is the oral form of estrogen and testosterone that go from the stomach to the liver (the first pass effect metabolism) that increases the clotting factor production of the liver which may increase the risk of blood clots in your legs, heart attack and stroke (compare this to damaging the stem of the flower while cutting it). The dose is critical too as if low or high (cutting the flowers the wrong height) you will feel poorly too. The goal: making you feel better with increased energy, stamina and feeling of vitality, without the increased risk of traditional “hormone replacement”. More importantly, the right provider looks at your vitamin levels, your overall health and has you optimize all of it together. It’s not a single flower in a vase with no support- it is the right balance, support and adjustments to make the bouquet.

Shepherding Your Son by Rev. Gabriel Delgadillo
Just recently my kids and I attended a local Houston theatrical production of David and Goliath where the play opens with David taking care of his sheep. In comical fashion, this rendition has the young cowboy shepherd running from one corner of the ranch to the other chasing down one sheep getting ready to walk off the edge of the stage, while quickly coming to the aide of another that can’t stop running into a wall. Another slightly mischievous member has to be caught in the act and stopped by the shepherd. It was a classic picture of one man’s heart felt attempt to bring order to innocent and unsuspecting lives who need, but may not even know they need, direction. Years ago, a very talented and passionate counselor who had already practiced in the northwest area of town for years introduced me to a series of lessons by Dr Douglas Wiess called “Shepherding Your Sons.” While both a candid and graphic approach to working through issues of common themes in sexual development and identity for young boys, it also made me acutely aware of something I really needed to acknowledge. In fact, I am convinced that both this and the cowboy David speak to all of us as fathers about our sons. They need us. This thing we call life is not something they were ever meant to figure out on their own, nor is it something that we can leave up to society or place the full weight on mothers, no matter how much they would give their lives to do it. Fatherhood is far more than propagation and provision. We are far more than a seed to start a life and check to finance it. The impact and raw requirement for a man in the life of his son is deeper at every age and expands far into the years of life. That is why the shepherd is most impactful metaphor for this relationship. That journey with my son began later than I would like to admit. Josiah was our firstborn, so I was
focused on providing for our new family and very much engaged in the daily stream of activities and schedules that maintained our active lifestyles are a family. Like most situations, unfortunately, something had to happen to shake me from my apathy and I realized just short of his preteen years that I neglected this well-behave, cheerful spirited boy. I took for granted that he was okay. I told myself it was faith and trust in him, but it was my laziness and convenience. Shepherding my son meant I had to be intentional and constant. There were nights during the week, after a long day of work, that we sat at the dinner table and went through activities and stories from material I had to choose and plan to deliberately teach him on a topic I had to select for his time of life at his level. This meant I had to know what he needed and when he needed it. As Josiah grew older, aside from some of the practical things (cars, money, grades, etc.) that a father teaches his sons about, I developed a system of accountability, like an ever-present check engine light that was on our father and son dashboard of life. There were areas of his life, often mirrored in my life, that I kept up with him on a regular basis. If I want to prevent a moral, emotional, spiritual, or sexual breakdown, there had to be a father-son maintenance program that only a dad could walk his boy through. This is my story with my son. The Bible is the story of a Perfect Father loving broken children in a broken world. This story gives us hope that in the chaos and confusion of our culture we can help create character that will stand. Hope that they will become men. Josiah Delgadillo Hope that, if at all possible, they will become even better men than we ever were.

Pastoreando Tu Hijo by Rev. Gabriel Delgadillo

In the 1950s, scholars worried that, thanks to technological innovations, Americans wouldn’t know what to do with all of their leisure time. What wishful thinking!! Today, Americans are overworked, putting in more hours than ever. Technology disturbs our leisure time, our family time and even our consiousness. Juggling between work, family and personal needs makes it easy to get sucked into the never-ending list of to-dos and end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed.

For nearly two decades, teachers and community partners have come together to host a Fine Arts Festival that is second to none! This day of free, family fun is one of the ways in which our community wraps itself around children and puts children first. I love seeing students engaged in the arts; creativity and innovation make the world better. By making art, presenting and performing, students demonstrate what they know in an authentic way – beyond the four walls of their classroom. Participation in the arts helps students develop skills as communicators, global citizens, critical thinkers, creative innovators, leaders and collaborators, and personally responsible individuals. These are skills that they will use for the rest of their lives. Follow Dr. Fagen on Twitter @ElizabethFagen

Putting Out the Fire of Anger by: Deborah Elum, Author & Speaker
I could see the flames bursting forth through the roof from a house across the street. The firemen worked feverishly, trying to get the fire under control and to keep it from spreading to nearby homes. The beautiful two-story home was destroyed from a small flame that grew into an out of control disaster. The same way a fire can destroy a home, anger can spread and destroy a family. One evening, a relative of mine was upset about the way her husband had disciplined their daughter. Instead of sitting down and working it out, she talked to her friends about it. When she told me her version of what had happened, I felt that her husband had not done anything wrong and that they should talk about it and put the matter behind them. Yet, the flames of anger continued to spread after she refused to forgive him. As her anger and bitterness blazed through their home, she turned his daughter and son against him. Two years later, her version of the story changed as she shared it with close and distant relatives to justify her filing for a divorce. What was once a small spark of anger had now destroyed their marriage and friendship of 30 years. As mothers, we must be quick to forgive when others have wronged us. We put out the flames of anger with the water of the Word, prayer, and, if needed, godly council. We must continuously see peace and resolve conflict quickly. Hebrews 12:14-15 (NLT) sums it up best: “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.” Deborah’s other books are also available on Amazon.com and AllThatFilms.com.

Dear Stressed Out Granny, Why should your daughter buy the milk when she got the whole cow, Sugar. Your daughter has been milking you good. When are you going to put your foot, in your case, hoof down and put a stop to the unlimited source? The problem is not your daughter, Sugar. The problem is you. You needs to pray for strength and set a limit on how much you are willing to help her. You need to ween her and let Baby Girl know that the dairy is closed. I am my mother’s son It becomes apparent each day, I find myself doing things, I recollect, my mother did that way.
I am my mother’s son, I say with no regret; She lived a Godly example, A high goal for me, she set.
On my knees beside her Without a doubt I could say “I have my sweet mother Because you taught me that way.”
I wonder why it is? I didn’t see it while she was here. My life was so impacted, With mother ever near.
As I reach higher and higher, With desire I wish to attain, The integrity and character, That came with mother’s name.
I asked her to forgive me of The disappointment I had caused, She smiled and said, “I already have.” In her words there was no pause.
Now that she is gone, Her life run out of time Things she taught me will linger, I am my mother’s kind!
Just before she died, She looked into my eyes, “Son, have you repented?” Then gazed into the skies,
As we laid her to rest, My mind was filled with peace; Because before she left, We both found sweet release. She from earths trials, and All the hardship she bore; Me, I found new freedom She gave me so much more! I am my mother’s son, I am my mother’s kind She in heaven’s arms Me, in earth’s sublime by Ron Ramey.

I AM A RAMSEY KID By Beth Ann Johnson
MAKE MY DAY
In the summer between my fourth and fifth grade years in school, at age eleven, I took on a morning paper route with the Columbus Dispatch. A childhood friend and classmate had had the route and suggested my name for recruitment. There were only 21 customers, but the route was five miles long and ran partly along a two-way highway; Rt.140. The publication ran six days a week and I held the job for 18 months. The route was divided between two sides of town, which worked out well because my bike basket would only hold half the papers at a time. The post office was one block from our home and I was up early to arrive at 5:30 a.m. to pick up and start the south side deliveries. Jack Davis’ home was first, then crossing Rt. 140 where the ‘new store’ is now…and over to Gunning’s Brick Yard was second. From there, up to the right toward Hope Hill was the Shoemate’s. Then it was back down the hill and over the RR tracks there at Rawlins’…probably traveling (or flying) at about seven hundred-forty mph. Why?…one might ask. Well, the next smaller hill had something awaiting me every single morning. The Murphy’s, on the left there, had a German shepherd dog. The beast stood four feet tall at the shoulders and its fangs had to have been nine inches long. It breathed green smoke from its nostrils and had a bark the sound of a freight train. It would chase me over the hill and halfway down the other side. This would have been all of a hundred feet. On a side note, this same dog later broke the skin on the back of my leg just under my shorts during another home delivery. This time for a cleaning product the band was selling that I’d sold to the Murphy home. I guess the dog remembered the squirt gun I began to carry and took this opportunity to get even. At the bottom of this hill was the only blinking red light in town (still is) where Jackson Street begins off the two-way highway at Rt. 140. I had to cross it to deliver to Hanes Chevrolet, moving east now to Kuhner’s restaurant (note: tell about the time I set off the burglar alarm), down the back road to Carl Shamhart’s, backtrack and around and down, crossing the RR tracks, again and just a tad further to Joanne Scharder’s. I could interject stories of the

swimming pool and trampoline here, but I’ll save that for another time. My memory has blanked out on several customers, but I know the second half of the route began by darting north to Simmering’s Market, up a block and over passed the Baptist Church there to deliver to both Cook homes; Emma and Walter, back down the hill and over to Sugar Camp Road and out to Jackson Street to hit the Shumate’s there on the corner. Then it was up past the school and over to the Little Hollywood streets to make the Stroth’s, the Cunningham’s, and the Lykins’ homes. I carried the other papers to school to make personal deliveries to teachers. But on Saturdays and during the summer months, these customers had home delivery, as well. Dave Patrick was last on the route and all you in So. Webster know the treacherous hill there up past the old high school. I experienced heavy breathing and shouted out-loud prayers while peddling past the village water tower (a.k.a. Black Scary Monster), around the several curves and to his house. Like the U.S. mail…through rain or hail or sleet or snow…the papers were delivered. These memories are from more than, dare I say it, 50 years ago. I would love to have a kid on a blue banana bike with a little white basket covered with blue and yellow flowers run the entire route and film it. Or, maybe I should put this little project on my bucket list and enjoy it all over, again myself. I’m sure I’d have to walk up the hills on foot now, take the RR tracks much more slowly, and learn correct hand singles for proper bike safety. I’d also have a water bottle in one hand and the So. Webster Fire Department on speed dial in the other. I would still carry a squirt gun, too, and challenge any dog that growled at me or snapped at my tires to “Make my day!” Have a wonderful Spring everyone! God is great!
