Taxation Without PROCRASTINATION
U
nless you're a CPA, you probably do not look forward to doing your taxes. The word procrastinate does not come close to describing the level of avoidance I will attempt to put off doing my taxes. Last year I even volunteered to clean the toilets instead of starting my taxes.
Every year after I finish my taxes I pledge to get them done by the end of February the next year.
6
Here I sit writing this article, the last few days of February, and I have not even come close to starting my taxes. You have most likely heard that the only things in life that are inevitable are death and taxes. When it comes to taxes, procrastination is inevitable. And just for the record, I plan on continuing to procrastinate on death as well. I did find a wine that should put you in the mood for doing taxes.

In fact, when I saw it on the shelf at my local HEB, it reminded me that I had not yet started on my taxes. Procrastinate Sauvignon Blanc, is fresh and packed with citrus fruit. Lemon-line and grapefruit flavors finish crisp and clean. Procrastinate also makes a chardonnay, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe I'll try it next tax season - in February.

matter how long you’ve lived in your home, I think it’s always fun to “shake things up a little bit” and give at least one room in your home a fresh new “face lift’! So here are a few ideas that might just help you get started on your own fresh new look!
REARRANGE! Often times it’s not something new you crave, although new

furniture can definitely give any home an instant face lift. Perhaps, simply rearranging what you already own within a specific room – or transferring pieces from one room to another will make a huge difference! I like to work with my clients to help move their furniture into more interesting positions. Rather than the traditional line of furniture around the walls, try angling your large furniture pieces. I guarantee that you’ll love the

difference an angle can make! LIGHT IT UP! Nothing gives a room a brighter sparkle easier and faster than new lighting… especially if your room seems drab and dull. Consider adding a new lamp – or even an pair of new lamps! Even replacing an old lampshade with something new and fresh can make a huge difference in brightening your room!

TEXAS STYLE!
Authentic Mexican Taco’s made with fresh ingredients are the winning combination for lunch any day of the week. Choose from their daily menu of custom made taco’s or try their Tortas and Consomes. Whatever you like, the atmosphere is friendly, and the food will definitely halt any craving you might have. - 12617 Louetta Rd #216, Cypress, TX 77429 (832) 559-1677
SIERRA MADRE TACO CO.
All “Happy Hours” should start here. Known for their unique hand squeezed lime margaritas, their famous dish is a distinctive pepper marinated beef fajitas served with hand-rolled tortillas. Our favorite was the beef fajitas topped with bacon wrapped pepper shrimp. The atmosphere is fun and kid friendly. This is a place to frequent often. - 22465 Tomball Parkway, Tomball, TX (832) 843-0004

LEARN TO
SKATE Ice
skating, a popular activity dating back to ancient times. It wasn’t until the mid-19th century that ice skating separated into two forms -- speed skating and figure skating.
Our local Aerodrome offers figure skating lessons for children as young as three years old along with competitive skating. There are typically two to three competitions locally and even more throughout Texas a year.
At that time, Jackson Haines, a U.S. ballet dancer credited with being the founder of modern figure skating, added dance moves to his ice skating routines. Even today, ice skating remains a favorite recreational pastime for kids whatever form of skating they choose.

Animals & Allergies
W
ith the emergence of springtime, comes the arrival of allergies. Although the landscape is lush, many people experience the beauty that comes with the warmer weather as well as the bothersome allergy symptoms. Pets can also be affected by allergies and it is important to be mindful of any symptoms that your pet might be displaying.
son, clinical assistant professor and a board certified dermatologist at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. “The hallmark sign of allergic skin disease is itch that can be manifested as licking, chewing, rubbing, biting, scooting, head shaking, and/or scratching. Typically, the face, ears, paws, armpits, groin, and rump are the most affected sites.”
care veterinarians to get down to the bottom of how to best diagnose and manage skin and ear disease, including allergies, in animals.
“People sneeze and wheeze with allergies, while dogs tend to itch and scratch,” says Dr. Adam Patter-
“Animals tend to be allergic to many of the same things people are hypersensitive to such as pollen, mold, dust, house dust mite, and foodstuffs,” Patterson explains. “An exception would be fleas - the most common thing dogs and cats are allergic to. Despite this, many people are in ‘fleanial’ and refuse to believe just a few flea bites can be triggering the itch response in their pet Allergic skin disease can be mistaken for many other forms of skin disease. A veterinary dermatologist is trained to work with primary
“Management regimens might include increased frequency of bathing (washing pollens of the skin surface), antimicrobials or antibiotics, flea prevention, fatty acids, antihistamines, change in diet, steroids, and immunotherapy, also known as desensitization.

It is important to understand that allergies can be managed, but not cured, just as with humans. The goal is to reduce the extent and severity of signs, not completely eliminate them.
Patterson explains that rainfall cuts down on airborne pollen and may provide itch relief to pets, but at the same time rain may cause plants to produce more pollen over the next few weeks. Indeed, rain fall might worsen flea and mold allergies because moisture and humidity are favorable to fleas and mold. Of course, rain has no effect on food-related allergic skin diseases. It is important to be aware of the symptoms and to notify a veterinarian when they persist. Pet Talk is a service of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University.
