Since 1966, the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce has worked to strengthen the economic foundation of our region as a dedicated nonprofit professional organization. With more than 500 member businesses, we remain deeply committed to collaboration, shared knowledge, and the collective success of our community. As we move forward, we are proud to share that the year 2026 will mark our Chamber’s sixtieth year of service, an important milestone that we look forward to celebrating with all who have contributed to our journey.

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR ORTHOLA
Every year, the Thibodaux Chamber evaluates its members to recognize businesses that demonstrate growth, provide significant local employment opportunities, embrace innovation, and show a strong commitment to the community through their contributions. This year’s Business of the Year is OrthoLA. OrthoLA was founded in 2007 and has since expanded its practice to better serve the needs of its patients. OrthoLA is a practice of nine dedicated professionals, providing quality care to the Thibodaux community. They provide a variety of services, including sports medicine, joint replacement, physical therapy, and fracture care, to support the health and recovery of their patients. The physicians at OrthoLA are committed to ensuring the Thibodaux community has access to quality care, eliminating the need to travel to larger cities for treatment. This unwavering dedication to growth, innovation, and community health is why OrthoLA has been named this year’s Business of the Year.
SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR SALON MOXIE
Small businesses are the backbone of our community, showcasing its diversity, culture, and shared commitment to making our city thrive. The Chamber is proud to support these businesses by providing resources, opportunities, and advocacy to help them grow and succeed. The 2024 Small Business of the Year is Salon Moxie. Owner Tiffany Lagarde opened her salon in 2013, and as her business grew, she recognized the need for more space. In 2023, she purchased a bowling alley, which is now the new home of Salon Moxie. What began with just Tiffany and her sister has grown into a thriving salon with 15 talented stylists. Salon Moxie is more than just a salon; it’s an experience that offers clients a unique and memorable atmosphere, making every visit special. The definition of “moxie” perfectly aligns with how Tiffany approaches life. She embodies determination, confidence, and a bold spirit that drives her to continuously push boundaries and pursue her goals.

OUTSTANDING CITIZEN OF THE YEAR MICHAEL RIETH
The recipient of the Outstanding Citizen of the Year award is selected based on their significant contributions to improving the quality of life for our residents. Their actions and deeds reflect a deep commitment to making a positive impact in the community. The recipient of the 2024 award is Michael Rieth. Michael Rieth has been working at John Deere Thibodaux for over 20 years, consistently demonstrating a strong commitment to his work and community. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to making a positive impact and helping those around him. Michael is actively involved in numerous organizations including the Virtual Academy of Lafourche, Lafourche Education Foundation, Louisiana King Cake Festival, Knights of Colombus, E.D. White Band and more. He is also a dedicated volunteer firefighter, further demonstrating his commitment to serving his community.
MEMBER OF THE YEAR START CORPORATION
The Member of the Year award honors a chamber member who consistently makes significant contributions to both the chamber and the community. This year’s recipient of the 2024 Member of the Year is Start Corporation. Start Corporation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive health services to individuals, including those with mental disabilities, the homeless, youth, and veterans. Start Corporation, along with its community health centers, provides care by addressing patients’ basic needs through a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and licensed social workers. Their clinics offer comprehensive primary care, treating everything from minor injuries to major medical conditions. Under the leadership of CEO Casey Guidry, who has been with Start Corporation since 2000 and assumed the role of CEO in 2006, the organization remains persistent in its dedication to helping others and making a meaningful impact in the community.
TEENAGER OF THE YEAR LILLY BILELLO
The Chamber’s mission focuses on engaging young individuals and recognizing them as the future leaders of our community. The Teenager of the Year award honors an outstanding teen who shows exceptional commitment to their studies, school, and community. This recognition includes a $500 scholarship from the Norman “Big Boy” Swanner Foundation, in memory of the late Norman Swanner. 2024’s Teenager of the Year is Lilly Bilello. Lilly Bilello is a dedicated Thibodaux High School cheerleader and an active member of several organizations, including the student council, Key Club, Christian Club, National Honor Society, and senior class council. She is ahead with college credits and plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in Biochemistry. Motivated by her passion for helping others, Lilly is focused on making a positive impact in her community and beyond.
TOMMY BAUDOIN
Founded in 2000 by the late C. Lindy and Mary Anne Delaune Hoffman, the Mr. and Mrs. Lindy Hoffman Music’s Unsung Hero Award celebrates the lasting influence of music on our local culture. This award honors an individual or group whose contributions have made a significant impact on the musical arts community. In 2024, we proudly recognize Tommy Baudoin as the deserving recipient of this award. Tommy Baudoin began his music journey at an early age, with music running in his family and started performing at 9 years old. He grew up knowing the Hoffman family and had the opportunity to work at the Hoffman Music Store for five years. Tommy has played in many bands and is a current member of The Groove. In his mid-20s, Tommy began teaching music to both adults and children, sharing his passion and expertise with a diverse range of students. Tommy currently serves as the band director at St. Joseph’s Elementary School, where he continues to inspire and guide young musicians.

This year’s Chairman’s Award honors Brian Vaill of Gaubert Oil Company for his outstanding contributions to the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce. Through his vision and dedication, Brian initiated and executed the Workforce Wednesday Program, a transformative initiative focused on fostering youth workforce readiness. By creating valuable opportunities for skill-building and meaningful connections, he has not only strengthened our community but also inspired other businesses to join this impactful effort. We are proud to recognize Brian’s commitment to empowering the next generation and building a brighter future for Thibodaux.

Building Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
An essential part of the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce’s mission is acting as a resource for the younger generation through mentorship, helping students explore opportunities that set them up for long-term success right here at home. In line with this goal, the Chamber has partnered with the Lafourche Parish School District, Nicholls State University, and Fletcher Technical Community College to offer Workforce Wednesday , a unique program within the Quest for Success class for eighth-grade students.

QUEST FOR SUCCESS is designed to help students explore different career paths and determine their pathway to graduation, whether that is college-prep or trade/skillbased. Workforce Wednesday brings the classroom to life by connecting students with professionals from local businesses. Once a month on a Wednesday, participating businesses send representatives to classrooms to give students a firsthand look at a variety of careers available in the Bayou Region. Workforce Wednesday currently features representatives from a variety of local businesses and organizations, including Acadian Ambulance, Bollinger Shipyards, DDG, Gaubert Oil Company, Grand Isle Shipyard, Hancock Whitney Bank, John Deere Thibodaux, Lafourche Ambulance, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Meyer Financial, Sea-Level Construction, and Thibodeaux Regional Health System. Students learn about day-to-day responsibilities, required skills, and potential career pathways, gaining valuable insight that goes beyond textbooks. Ten schools within Lafourche Parish School District currently participate in the program, including Bayou Blue Middle School, E.D. White Catholic High School, Golden Meadow Middle School,
Larose Cut Off Middle School, Lockport Middle School, Raceland Middle School, Sixth Ward Middle School, Thibodaux Middle School, Bayou Community Academy, and Virtual Academy of Lafourche.
Workforce Wednesday is about more than just career exploration, it’s about investing in the future of Lafourche Parish. By connecting students with the opportunities that exist right here at home, the program helps combat the challenges of a shrinking workforce and encourages young people to build their futures in the community that raised them. Students are embracing the opportunity to learn from professionals in their community. “I’m glad I got to take part in the Workforce Wednesday program. I was exposed to career opportunities I had not considered. All in all, it was a very beneficial program,” said Dylan Barker, an eighthgrade student at E.D. White Catholic High School. His experience reflects the goal of Workforce Wednesday, to inspire curiosity, open new doors, and show students that opportunities can be found close to home.

Local businesses have also seen the impact of the initiative firsthand. Anna Molaison, Human Resources Generalist at Thibodaux Regional Health System, shared, “Thibodaux Regional Health System has enjoyed being part of the Workforce Wednesday program for the past three years. Our goal is to show students that a hospital offers more than just doctor and nurse roles. As we introduce the variety of careers available, students begin to see new possibilities for their future. They start to recognize the potential to build a successful career right here in the Bayou Region.”
As Workforce Wednesday continues to grow, the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce hopes to welcome even more local businesses to join in shaping the future workforce of Lafourche Parish. By sharing their knowledge, experiences, and passion, business leaders have the power to inspire students to pursue fulfilling careers close to home. Together, schools, businesses, and the Chamber are creating a lasting impact, one that strengthens the local economy, fosters young talent, and ensures that the next generation of professionals sees a future in the Bayou Region.
Our 2024-2028 Strategic Plan is a comprehensive blueprint for community and economic growth. It’s focus is on enhancing prosperity in the city of Thibodaux and Lafourche Parish and strengthening connections between businesses, neighborhoods, and residents.
A New Era for Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou
When people think of Louisiana, their minds often jump to New Orleans or Baton Rouge but right here in Cajun Country is Lafourche Parish, a destination with its own authentic culture, traditions, and important story to tell. At the center of sharing that story is Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism , the official tourist commission for Lafourche Parish. With a mission to position Lafourche as a year-round destination for travelers on the regional, national, and international stage, the commission works to showcase the area’s unapologetically Cajun culture, food, festivals, and outdoor beauty.
LOUISIANA’S CAJUN BAYOU TOURISM fulfills this mission through robust marketing campaigns, public relations efforts, sales and outreach, and advocacy across the parish, state, and nation. Their ultimate vision is bold yet clear: to place Lafourche Parish among the top 10 tourist destinations in Louisiana. Out of 64 parishes competing for that recognition, Lafourche continues to climb, thanks to the commission’s dedication to telling the authentic story of Cajun life up and down the Bayou.
Leading the way at Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism is Cody A. Gray, President & CEO, whose passion for sharing the story of Lafourche Parish has been evident since he joined the team in April 2020 as Director of Sales and Marketing. By the end of that same year, his leadership and vision earned him the role he holds today. He is supported by a dedicated team, including Ian Wallis, Sales and Marketing Manager; Brandi Hebert, Office Manager and Executive Assistant; and John Adams, Travel Counselor, all who play key roles in promoting Lafourche Parish and assisting visitors. The tourist commission has placed a strong emphasis on preserving and promoting the unique Cajun culture that makes Lafourche Parish so special. Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism also works hand in hand with the Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce to promote local businesses, events, and attractions, strengthening both tourism and the economy. Gray sees the visitor center as a cornerstone of that mission. “Our visitor center does an excellent job of encapsulating our culture and our heritage. We like to say it serves as a hub, not only for the visitor but for the resident, to learn more about where they live, their culture and so forth. And our job as the visitor center is to inspire people and to drive visitation to our tourism partners and area businesses. We want them to get interested. We want them to get excited,” said Gray. Through this vision, Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism ensures
that both locals and visitors have a place to connect with and celebrate the deep-rooted traditions that define life in Lafourche Parish.
What makes Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou unique is its people, its hospitality, and, of course, its food. Festivals and events bring these elements together, offering the best of music, cuisine, and community spirit. Festivals and events are a big part of life in Lafourche Parish, attracting thousands of visitors each year to celebrate our food, music, and culture. Some of the most popular include Thibodeauxville Fall Festival, Louisiana Gumbo Festival, Acadia Music Fest, Thibodaux Fireman’s Fair, French Food Festival, Big Boy’s Main Street Cook-Off, Louisiana King Cake Festival, and many more. Mardi Gras is also a must in Lafourche Parish, with 15 parades rolling through our communities each season. The parades offer all the fanfare and excitement you would find in larger cities, but in a more welcoming, familyfriendly environment. People of all ages can line the streets, catch beads, and enjoy the festivities together while still feeling connected to the destination
The parish’s waterways are another defining feature of Lafourche Parish. Bayou Lafourche flows through the center of the parish, shaping our way of life and the towns that dot the landscape. Life here on the bayou is much like its current, meandering and slower paced. .One of the best ways to explore our bayous and waterways is by taking a swamp tour. Whether it’s an airboat or a pontoon you are sure to see plenty of wildlife and unspoiled beauty. At the end of our parish, the bayou empties into the Gulf, creating a sportsman’s paradise. Leeville and Port Fourchon are two signature places that are worth the visit. These areas offer opportunities for kayaking, birding, inshore fishing,

and offshore fishing. It also provides a unique glance into how industry and environment can work together to preserve and promote some of our most precious resources..
Music is also big part of the parish’s culture, with local bands gaining recognition nationwide. Zydeco, swamp pop, and Cajun jams define the music traditions of Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou. Venues like Gina’s at the Legion and the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center help keep these styles alive with their Cajun Jam Nights, while organizations such as the Cajun Music Preservation Society bring together musicians of all ages to ensure our music continues to thrive for generations to come.
Food is at the heart of the bayoulife, with dishes crafted from long-standing local traditions. No two dishes are ever the same, each with its own unique twist. Lafourche Parish is full of flavorful cuisine, from traditional gumbo and etouffee to po’boys and seafood specialties, each prepared with recipes passed down through generations. “A meal is so much more than just a meal here, it is an experience. Our culinary culture is something that brings people together. Whether it is at a festival or at a restaurant, everyone gathers and they talk, they laugh, and it does not matter who you are or where you come from. It is about the food, the fellowship and the people,” said Gray. The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute continues this legacy by training the next generation of Cajun chefs, many of whom stay local or pursue careers around the world to serve as our very own culinary ambassadors. The Cajun Bayou Food Trail, created by
Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism, invites visitors to sample these flavors while exploring communities along the bayou. The trail stretches up and down the bayou, featuring 18 restaurants and six events that embody a true Cajun dining experience. Guests can download their map and passport or pick one up at the visitor center and head out on the trail. To earn a free food trail t-shirt, get your passport stamped at five stops along the trail.
In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism landscape shifted dramatically, not just nationally, but in Lafourche Parish. As travelers moved away from crowded urban areas, they began seeking destinations where they could enjoy wide-open spaces, fewer crowds, and a more personal connection to the destination. Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou fit that need perfectly. Located within driving distance of major Louisiana cities, the parish became a convenient getaway for those seeking a different pace and atmosphere. Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism was quick to recognize and respond to this shift. Travel is no longer seen as just a luxury but as a true necessity after being restricted for so long. The tourist commission leaned heavily into marketing and public relations efforts to position Lafourche as an authentic, must-visit destination. By promoting intimate, personal experiences rooted in Cajun heritage, they captured the attention of a new wave of travelers eager for genuine connections. And as events began returning, the parish saw a surge in visitation from near and far, highlighting how much the region appeals to travelers looking to experience true Louisiana culture.
Tourism is one of the biggest economic drivers in Lafourche Parish, making a major impact on local businesses and families. According to the 2023 Tourism Spending in Louisiana Parishes Report, visitors spent $92.19 million in Lafourche Parish, helping support restaurants, shops, hotels, small businesses, and more. That spending created $31.08 million in earnings for local workers and supported more than 1,100 jobs in hospitality, retail, and services. Visitors also generated $6.75 million in state taxes and $3.71 million in local taxes. Every household in Lafourche saved about $285 in taxes, showing how tourism directly benefits residents. With these numbers, Lafourche Parish ranks as the 18th largest visitor economy in Louisiana, proving how important tourism is to keep local businesses strong and the community thriving. Tourism’s success depends on both visitors and locals working together to celebrate and share this special place we call home.
Our job as the visitor center is to inspire people and to drive visitation to our tourism partners and area businesses. We want them to get interested. We want them to get excited.
In 2021, Hurricane Ida brought devastating impacts to Lafourche Parish, including the complete destruction of Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism’s visitor center. Despite the loss of their building, the team immediately shifted into crisis-response mode, operating out of the Hampton Inn. During this time, they worked closely with local partners, government agencies, and local businesses to track which hotels and restaurants were open , which had supplies, and which were in need. The team also assisted recovery crews, distributed essential supplies, and helped displaced residents find housing. Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism became a vital part of Lafourche Parish’s recovery effort, providing stability and support when the community needed it most.
As the parish began to heal, President & CEO Cody A. Gray and Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Board of Directors made the decision to rebuild. A temporary modular trailer was brought to the site, where it served as both an office and a makeshift visitor center for nearly four years. This commitment to pressing forward, even under difficult circumstances, speaks to the resilience of the organization and its determination to continue serving both visitors and residents. That perseverance ultimately paved the way for the opening of the brand-new tourism center; a facility designed not only to welcome travelers but to stand as a symbol of recovery and growth for Lafourche Parish.
In August 2025, Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism celebrated the opening of its brand-new visitor center, a space designed to both welcome guests and showcase Lafourche Parish. One of its main attractions is the Fun Finder, a 3D interactive map of the parish that highlights life up and down the Bayou. The map

illustrates topography, bridges, and local wildlife, and features more than 30 interactive buttons and screens where visitors can learn about key sites such as the E.D. White Historic Site, Laurel Valley Plantation, the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center, Port Fourchon, and many others. This hands-on feature invites guests to explore Lafourche Parish before even setting foot in its communities, inspiring curiosity and sparking adventure.
The center also features a variety of exhibits and interactive displays that reflect the parish’s way of life. Guests can take a photo with the center’s resident alligators, Clotilde and Gautreaux. They can also walk beneath oak tree displays that connect to the Live Oak Tour. A theater inside the center plays short films about the parish, offered in both English and French. Other exhibits highlight the region’s fishing traditions, the importance
of the Louisiana coast, and areas that showcase the parish’s food culture. Visitors can also explore interactive screens that highlight dining options, activities, and accommodations across Lafourche Parish. Together, these elements create an engaging experience that invites visitors to see, hear, and learn about the culture that makes Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou unlike anywhere else in the world.

From guiding the community through Hurricane Ida to opening a new visitor center, the organization has shown resilience and growth.
