“COME HOLY SPIRIT” I read a post on facebook that got me to thinking strongly about the Holy Spirit. The post read in part: “Tonight at church Something Supernatural happened that I have never experienced before. On February seventh, 2021 at 5 PM we gathered to pray before the service. As we were worshiping God, I was standing in the back when all of a sudden it seemed like the whole sanctuary was filled with the real Hardy deep beautiful fragrance of very strong cedar. During the whole worship service, I was smelling this strong fragrance. I went up to pastor Gary Schaeffer and asked him if he could smell it. Tears were in his eyes. He told me that he had hardly any sense of smell because of what he had just gone through, but instantly his nostrils were opened, and he could smell that fragrance. During the whole service, we could smell this amazing fragrance. Wave after wave, wave after wave. It would come, dissipate, then it would come again. I am not exaggerating in the least.” We should welcome stories like these. I have heard of gold dust appearing during worship. I have actually experienced Holy Laughter. Maybe we should begin to step away from religious tenets that hold our mind captive to what can be understood. In God’s Kingdom one plus one does not always equal two. Sometimes donkeys speak; sometimes the sun stands still; sometimes angels appear and give direction. These supernatural manifestations can only be experienced through the Holy Spirit. I want to live a magnificent Spirit-filled life! The Holy Spirit has a mind (Rom. 8:27), He convicts us of our sin (John 16:8), He grieves over our sin (Eph. 4:30), He can be resisted (Acts. 7:51), quenched (1 Thess. 5:19), He cries out to God (Gal. 4:6), He informs us and directs us (Acts 8:29), He reveals the Word of God in your heart (1 Cor. 2:10), Most importantly, The Holy Spirit glorifies God and declares that Jesus is Lord (John 16:14).

New Year, Same Visit
by Taleia House
Reflecting on 2020, the impact of COVID-19 was substantial. The world stopped and so did our lives. Along with our daily routines, it seems our health might have struggled as well. Some report weight gain, which we are calling the “COVID 15”. More importantly, women are not visiting their gynecologist for a well woman exam. I know, I know. Who wants to do THAT while we’re in a pandemic? Well ladies, I am here to tell you that YOU DO! Obstetrician-gynecologists are traditionally known to provide preventative care for women. However, we also have the unique ability to provide comprehensive counseling regarding healthy lifestyles and risk factors as well. In the midst of the COVID madness, the well woman exam is still recommended annually for all women. Here’s what you can expect when visiting your physician’s office for a well woman exam: Comprehensive History and Physical Exam. This allows the physician to gather important information about you and is one of the most significant aspects of your visit. History-taking includes current symptoms, medications, allergies as well as medical, surgical, family, social, and gynecological history (sexual, reproductive, and mental health). It is the patient’s detailed history that will help channel not only further questions, but help guide the physical exam, which can include breast and pelvic exams. Family history is a gem and can serve as a risk assessment tool to uncover possible heritable diseases like breast cancer. For reproductive aged women, we also explore fertility options as well as the various contraceptive options. Screening tests. Yes, this is where we discuss the single most important screening test for all women – the infamous pap smear. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that screening should start at the age of 21 years old and continue until the age of 65 years old although screening can expand beyond the age of 65 years old for certain women. Cervical cancer is a preventable disease, and screening is one way to identify those affected early. The HPV vaccine, Gardasil 9, is FDA approved for women and men ages 9-45 years old to prevent not only cervical, but also vaginal, vulvar, anal, and throat cancers. So have no fear ladies….get your Pap Smear! We also offer breast cancer screening via clinical breast exam and mammography. Mammograms start at the age of 40 years old unless you have a significant family history. Relationships. This admittedly is my favorite part of the visit….YOU! I chose the specialty of OB/GYN because I wanted to continue to cultivate relationships with women of all walks of life. Your physician wants to get to know the woman behind the chart and the wellness visit is the perfect time. We want to know about your holidays, grandkids, growing children, and favorite hobbies. Your wellness visit affords us this opportunity, so go ahead and see your provider today. As we continue to navigate the “change” that COVID has brought, don’t forget about your health. This is one aspect of your life that you can take the reins and steer it the way you choose. Remember…seasons come and go but your annual wellness visit is here for you always.

Cast Your Burdens on Jesus
by Roy Chapman
God knows the root of your problems and He knows how to solve every one of them. On your own, you cannot handle them with a great deal of success. He wants to handle them for you because He never intended for you to carry a heavy load. First Peter 5:7 (NIV), affirms you to, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” Jesus desires to be your burden bearer. Jesus, Himself, said these words in Matthew 11:2930, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Throughout every difficult situation, we must focus on the Word of God and He will give us perfect peace. He made all of us. Therefore, He knows we cannot carry heavy burdens. We need to cast all the cares of yesterday, today, and tomorrow on the Lord. He will give us perfect peace when our minds are focused on Him and not on our problems. We need to lay our burdens at the nail pierced feet of Jesus and leave them there. Yes, the winds of life may blow and your boat may be tossed in the sea, but you can be anchored in Him. An anchor is a large piece of metal tied to a ship or boat to keep it stationary in the water. If you let Jesus be the anchor of your life, the worldly things around you will only have limited influence. However, you will stand firm amidst everything going on around you when Jesus is your anchor. That is the peace available to you when you trust Him in all you do. In Hebrews 6:19, Paul uses an anchor to indicate the stability of God’s promise of salvation to those who believe in Him. Regardless of what is going on around you, God will provide comfort.

Lanza tus cargas sobre Jesús
by Roy Chapman

Humble has a rich history going back as far as 1824 when David Harris, a member of Stephen F. Austin’s colony, received the first land grant in this part of Harris County. By 1869, a Civil War veteran named Pleasant (Plez) Smith Humble migrated to the area and purchased land along the south side of the San Jacinto River, taking over the operation of a ferry and opening a grocery store. In February 1886, Pleasant Humble took over responsibility for the local mail, most likely out of his store or home. Local legend states that mail carriers from other towns were instructed to “deliver to Humble,” meaning Pleasant Humble. Through continued use of this phrase, “Humble” eventually became the name of the town. Whether this story is true or not, when the application was made to have a U.S. Post Office established in his town in August 1886, the official name of the town on the application was listed as “Humble, Texas,” Pleasant Humble became the town’s first postmaster in 1886 and was also elected as the local Harris County Justice of the Peace in May 1887. The pronunciation of the town name was based on the way Pleasant Humble spoke his last name with a silent “H”, so the town name was pronounced as “Umble.” The fortunes of the town improved dramatically on November 7, 1904, when the Moonshine Company struck oil in Humble. Humble became an oil boomtown overnight. The population increased from a few hundred residents to several thousand as Texans descended upon Humble to make their fortunes in the oil field. At that time, the Humble oil field was the largest producing oil field in Texas. The Good Oil Days Festival was created to celebrate Humble’s rich history in the oil industry as well as to bring business into the ‘hub’ of the city. Good Oil Days has developed over the years into one of Texas’ premium, family friendly festivals! Should I really go to freshman camp?
Yes! You definitely should go to freshman camp. It is one of the main things that helped me to get comfortable with the school. They usually take you around to where your classes are going to be and they take you through the extra step that you won’t be able to get the first day of school. Also, you get to meet some of your upper classmen and they’ll get to explain everything to you. They’ll be a friendly face in the hallway and they’ll explain all the stuff that the rule book might not be able to tell you. They really just give you the extra edge, extra step to be ready for your first day of school.
Q: A:
Does freshman year really matter? Don’t I have four years to bring my GPA up?
Yes! Any class that you take your freshman year is going to basically impact where you’re at your senior year. And if you give just a little bit more effort your freshman year, then you’ll be a lot more thankful your senior year.
High school students make a positive difference in our community. I am especially grateful for the students who serve on my Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. Humble ISD students in grades 9-12 who were chosen as Students of Character at the end of their eighth grade year make up this group. At our meetings, which have been held by Zoom this school year, students tell me what they love about Humble ISD and identify areas where they would like to see enhancements made. Their input and feedback allows my team to continuously improve what we offer to kids. The Superintendent’s Advisory Council also gives back through student-driven projects, such as hosting High School Hacks. I am proud of the impact students make on our community.

A Tribute to Mother Mother has longed to be in God’s presence, Her heart desire to feel His touch; To be numbered among heaven’s residents, Embracing family and friends loved so much. She told us she longed for heaven, We asked her not to go, But her hands lifted upward She saw sights we’ll never know. She whispered in the night To someone we could not see. We asked her “mother, do you see things soon to be?” She slowly shook her head but would not say; We knew in our heart, It was about a brighter day. She got a little inpatient because she wanted to go She even asked the question, “why is this going so slow?” God always has a plan, His ways we do not know; At last came the time and God beckoned, “Audrey, it’s time to go!” I can’t imagine the excitement she must have felt At home at last in the presence of the King she knelt. She found great blessing in serving others, Unfailing love; to many a loving mother. She reached out to troubled teens Who found life so unfair, But they found God’s grace is sufficient, Through Mama Audrey’s loving care. All the promises she found in God’s Word Have come to pass She has passed through death’s door Reaching paradise at last! She has passed through the portal How her heart sings Elated, joyous, shouting and dancing Present, in the presence of the King! By Ron Ramey 22 Kid-and-Kaboodle.com

CRYPTOGAINS© January 2021 Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto, a pseudonymous person or a team who presented this technology to the world in a 2008 document. The concept was simple i.e. to allow peer-to-peer transfer of money across the internet and without the use of a middleman [say, Paypal, Venmo etc. etc.]. Unlike government-issued currencies such as the Euro or the Dollar, Bitcoin can be purchased on cryptocurrency exchanges. You do not need to seek the permission of a bank, company or government to buy or transact with it. Bitcoin allows online transfers without using a bank or a payment processor. The removal of such gatekeepers creates a range of new possibilities including the potential for money to move around the global internet more cheaply and quickly while at the same time, allowing individuals to have maximum control of their own assets. Anyone with an internet connection can securely send Bitcoin across the globe without having to seek anyone's permission. It only exists digitally; there's no physical version of it. Bitcoin is internet money and is legal to use, transact with, hold or trade. It is used for everything from travel to charitable donations. It is accepted as payment by Microsoft, Paypal, Starbucks, Whole Foods and thousands of retailers across the world. Depending on your goals, Bitcoin can function as a store of value [similar to gold], as an investment, or as a way to transfer value across nations. Unlike the world's paper currencies, there will only be 21 million Bitcoin ever produced. Consequently, it's a deflationary asset whose value has increased by several thousand percent since it's inception in 2008. Bitcoin is divisible i.e. just as 100 cents make a dollar, 100 million Satoshi's make a whole Bitcoin. It is therefore, possible to buy Bitcoin in fractions [called Satoshi's]. Since Bitcoin is only 12 years old, it's highly volatile and experiences wild swings in the course of a day. However, as the world goes increasingly cashless and even as national currencies begin to devalue, it has become evident that the future of Finance lies in Bitcoin. Already, it's the world 7th. largest currency. Besides Bitcoin, there are thousands of other cryptocurrencies that have launched and each performs a specific function that includes insurance, supply chain management, cross-border payments, medical recordkeeping, borrowing, lending, saving and earning interest without the use of banks. This internet money has given 2.3 Billion people around the world access to the banking and the credit system.

Leaning on the Truth Deborah Elum, Author & Speaker
One day, I wanted to make a cup of coffee. As I pulled my Keurig coffee maker away from the wall towards me, I heard something behind it fall and break. The sound I heard was a glass jar as it hit the marble countertop. It had shattered and pieces of glass were everywhere. Most of the pieces were in plain sight on the countertop. But some of the pieces were hidden under the toaster, the coffee maker, and other objects. I did not realize it until it was too late that the jar was leaning against the coffee maker the whole time. In life, if we are not watchful, we can become comfortable hiding behind the security of a job, our family, a savings account, a relationship, or even a position in the church. But what happens when what we are trusting in is suddenly removed from our lives? Will we be like that glass jar, breaking into pieces and shattered forever or will we be able to continue to trust and rely on God? As women of faith, we must not put our confidence or trust in anything other than God and His word. God loves us so much that He sent His only Begotten Son to die for us. That is why we can lean on Him and His promises at all times. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 You have a reason why you exist. Now, it is time to discover the REAL YOU! Enjoy Every Day
Every day is a good day, no matter what comes your way. When you don’t know what to do, say a prayer for Jesus to help you! Dear kids, every day you have to make choices. You make choices about what to wear, what to eat, and what to do. You choose to do what is right or you can choose to do what is wrong. One of the important choices you can make is to give your heart and life to Jesus. Jesus loves you and wants to be a part of your life. When you invite Him into your heart, He will help you make the right decisions. Give your heart and life to Jesus today. Pray this prayer with me: God, I thank You that You made me. I ask You to forgive me for the things I have done wrong. I am sorry. I believe Jesus is Your Son and He died for the things I have done wrong. Please save me so that I can talk to You every day and You can help me do the right things. Please save me now and forever, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

A SEASON OF CHANGE Springtime is about embracing new life, renewal, transformation, new growth. It is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what’s happening inside us and what wants to emerge in powerful new ways. Sometimes growth can be difficult. And having gone through a major transition in my own life, I came across this beautiful story of the butterfly. One day, a young girl was playing in her grandmother’s garden when she noticed some caterpillar’s cocoons that were getting ready to open and become a butterfly. She watched the first one trying to come out of its home. It struggled and took a long time. By the time the butterfly got out, it was exhausted. It had to lay on the tree branch and rest awhile before it could take flight. The little girl felt so terrible for the little butterfly, who had to go through so much of a struggle just to get out of his little cocoon. When the little girl saw the second cocoon getting ready to hatch, she didn’t want it to go through what the first butterfly did. So she helped open the cocoon herself, and took the butterfly out. She laid him on the branch and saved him from the struggle. But the second little butterfly came out with a swollen body and small, shriveled wings, and could not fly, while the first little butterfly who had fought so hard took off into the sky. Distraught, the little girl ran to her grandmother, crying. “What happened? Why didn’t the second butterfly fly?” she asked. Her grandmother explained that butterflies have a liquid in the core of their body, and as they struggle to get out of the cocoon that liquid is pushed into the veins in the butterfly wings where it hardens and makes the wings strong. The struggle to get out of the cocoon strengthens the butterfly’s wings. “Without the struggle, there are no wings,” Grandmother said as she stroked her granddaughter’s hair to comfort her. Struggling is actually an important part of any growth experience. In fact, it is the struggle that creates who you are and gives you the ability to become the best version of you. If you ever feel lonely or out of place, remember a season of loneliness and isolation is when the caterpillar gets its wings.
